In RuneScape: Dragonwilds, a Saga is a complete story arc with its own beginning, middle and end. It is not simply the name for one patch or region: a Saga links quests, areas, enemies, bosses, resources, equipment and skills into a longer progression through Ashenfall. The first arc, the Kuldra Saga, ended when version 1.0 launched in September 2026 and players defeated Kuldra in the Scorned Wilderness raid. That ending closes Kuldra’s story, not the wider story of Ashenfall or the game itself.
Jagex has announced Luminance as a December 2026 prelude, the Blood Crystal Saga for 2027 and The Plundered Gods Saga beginning in 2028. Those are roadmap plans announced in October 2026, so they should be distinguished from content already released.

What a Saga means in Dragonwilds
A Saga is the game’s large-scale narrative unit. Instead of treating story as isolated quest lines, Dragonwilds uses a Saga to connect exploration, combat and character development across multiple updates. A complete arc introduces new places to visit, problems to investigate, opponents to defeat and rewards that expand what your character can do.

1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsThat structure makes progression part of the fiction. Reaching a new area is not only a map unlock; it advances the current story and exposes you to materials, equipment, enemies and skill content associated with that stage. The exact order in which an individual player improves every skill or obtains every item is not fixed by the published announcements, but the regions and updates are designed to build on one another.

Is the Kuldra Saga over?
Yes. The Kuldra Saga concluded with the Scorned Wilderness raid at the September 15, 2026 version 1.0 launch. Jagex described the raid as the point where players enter the wilderness and defeat Kuldra, completing the arc’s central conflict.
The conclusion is a story ending rather than a statement that Dragonwilds has no more content. Executive Producer Jesse America described the 1.0 launch as “the culmination of months of working towards bringing the game to millions of new players, and we’re only really getting started.” In practical terms, you can finish Kuldra’s narrative and still have the broader setting, future updates and later Sagas ahead.
How Kuldra’s Saga used regions and progression
The Kuldra arc began with Early Access in April 2025 and expanded as Jagex added major regions. The completed release sequence is:

| Stage | Role in the arc | What progression added |
|---|---|---|
| Fellhollow | Early part of the released Kuldra-era journey | Foundational exploration, quests, combat and survival progression |
| Dowdun Reach | One of the major expansion regions announced during development | Further quests and encounters, with new materials, gear and skill-related content |
| Umbral Sands | A later region in the Kuldra sequence | Another step in the narrative and an expanded set of challenges and rewards |
| Scorned Wilderness | Final region and location of the concluding raid | The opening core narrative’s climax and Kuldra’s defeat |
Jagex’s January 2026 roadmap described Dowdun Reach, Umbral Sands and Scorned Wilderness as successive stages that would extend the world and the Saga. The September launch announcement confirms that those plans culminated in the shipped Scorned Wilderness conclusion. Earlier roadmap material is useful for understanding the intended shape of progression, while the 1.0 announcement is the authority for what had actually released.
What changed as players moved forward
- Story: Quests and encounters moved the Kuldra conflict toward its resolution.
- World: Each major region expanded the explorable portion of Ashenfall.
- Combat: New enemies and bosses increased the kinds of threats players had to prepare for.
- Crafting and equipment: New materials and gear supported survival and combat in later areas.
- Skills: Updates added skill content and were planned to raise the overall skill level cap to 99, with retroactive content for existing skills in future updates.
This is best understood as a connected progression framework, not a mandatory single gear checklist. The official announcements do not establish one exact route through every skill, item tier or boss, so guides that present a universal order should be treated as player strategy rather than an official Saga requirement.
What happens after the Scorned Wilderness raid?
Defeating Kuldra resolves the first major mystery and conflict, but Ashenfall remains part of a larger, multi-year story. A July 2026 developer update described the unexplained place of Ashenfall in the wider world as the subject of continuing narrative development, with more regions, quests, skills, enemies, bosses and rewards expected.

The useful distinction is therefore:
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|

| Is Ashenfall’s story finished? | No. Jagex describes the setting as the beginning of a longer journey. |
| Is Dragonwilds finished? | No. Further updates and Sagas have been announced beyond the Kuldra conclusion. |

Quarterly updates are planned to include new skills such as Hunter and Slayer, while monthly updates are intended to add side quests, weapons, decorations and quality-of-life improvements. “Quarterly” and “monthly” describe the announced schedule, not a guarantee that every named feature will arrive on a particular date.
Official modding plans
Jagex has announced a 2027 partnership with CurseForge for official modding. The plan includes creation tools and an in-game mod browser and installer, with support intended across platforms including console. Until those tools launch, their exact capabilities, moderation rules and supported mod types should be considered unconfirmed.

What is The Plundered Gods Saga?
The Plundered Gods Saga is the next named arc after Blood Crystal, announced to begin in 2028. Jagex has not supplied a complete feature list or a detailed release sequence for it in the announcements covered here. The important point is that the roadmap places another full Saga after Blood Crystal, reinforcing that the Kuldra ending is not the end of Dragonwilds’ planned narrative.

How to think about progression between Sagas
When a new Saga arrives, expect progression to operate on several linked layers rather than as a reset automatically replacing everything that came before:
- Enter the new story space. A region or introductory quest establishes the next conflict and its setting.
- Gather local resources. New materials normally support crafting, construction or equipment appropriate to the area.
- Develop capabilities. Skills, gear and recipes expand the solutions available for exploration and combat.
- Take on stronger encounters. Enemies and bosses test the capabilities developed in the preceding steps.
- Advance the narrative. Quests connect those activities to the Saga’s larger mystery and eventual climax.
This model explains why a Saga feels larger than a conventional quest chain: the story, map and character systems move forward together. It does not mean every player must complete activities in one prescribed order.
What the 1.0 launch means for players
Version 1.0 marks the end of the opening core narrative and makes Dragonwilds available beyond Early Access. It does not erase the regions, skills, gear or quests built during the Kuldra period. Players who have not reached Scorned Wilderness can still experience the arc as a progression through Ashenfall; players who have completed the raid have reached the current story endpoint.
Jagex also announced physical Standard and Deluxe editions for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S for the fourth quarter of 2026. Availability can vary by territory, and the announcement does not establish which regional retailers will stock each edition.
Quick Recap
Frequently misunderstood points
- A Saga is not a synonym for a patch. A patch may add one part of a Saga; the Saga is the complete arc.
- The Kuldra ending is not a server shutdown or final chapter of the game. It is the conclusion of one antagonist’s story.
- A roadmap is not a release log. Scorned Wilderness is confirmed as shipped; Luminance, Blood Crystal and Plundered Gods remain future plans at the stated dates.
- Sales are not completion statistics. Jagex reported one million sales on January 29, 2026, but that figure does not measure how many players finished a Saga or predict demand for future content.
