A Legendary Core is a rare, single-use Warframe item that instantly raises one eligible mod to maximum rank. The upgrade consumes the Core but costs no Endo and no Credits, making it most valuable on expensive Primed, Umbral, or similarly costly mods.
What a Legendary Core does
When you apply a Legendary Core to an eligible mod, that mod immediately reaches its maximum rank. The normal Endo and Credit bill is bypassed entirely, and the Core disappears after use. It does not provide a permanent discount, duplicate itself, or upgrade multiple mods.

The item is therefore a resource-saving upgrade, not a general-purpose power-up. You still need a mod that can be ranked up and must select the Core in the mod-upgrade interface. A Core cannot be split across several ranks or saved after partially applying it.
How much can one save?
Prima Games reported in 2024 that a Rank 0 Primed or Umbral mod can require approximately 40,000 Endo and 1,700,000 Credits to reach maximum rank. Its estimate for a standard Rank 10 mod was about 30,000 Endo and 1,400,000 Credits. These are approximate guide calculations and can change when Digital Extremes adjusts mod costs or progression systems.
#1 Best Overall
| Target mod | Reported avoided cost | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Rank 0 Primed or Umbral mod | About 40,000 Endo and 1,700,000 Credits | Approximate calculation published by Prima Games in 2024 |
| Standard Rank 10 mod | About 30,000 Endo and 1,400,000 Credits | Approximate calculation published by Prima Games in 2024 |
Those figures are not a guaranteed exchange rate for the item. They simply show why a Core usually produces its greatest practical benefit on a high-cost, high-rank mod.
How players can obtain Legendary Cores
Sortie and Archon Hunt rewards
Legendary Cores have been reported in Sortie and Archon Hunt reward routes. Prima Games listed a reported 0.18% chance, but that is a secondary-source, version-sensitive figure rather than an independently verified current official drop-table value. Reward tables can change with updates, so check the latest in-game information and official Warframe documentation before treating the percentage as current.
Legendary Rank progression
The researched guide also reports one Legendary Core for each Mastery Rank test from Rank 30 onward. This is a progression-based source rather than a random reward, but the exact eligibility and reward rules should be confirmed against the current game version because progression systems are subject to revision.

Player trading
You can acquire a Core from another player through Warframe’s supported trading system. This is often the only practical route for a player who needs a Core immediately, but the Platinum amount is negotiated between players and no stable current market price is established here.
Can you trade a Legendary Core?
Yes. Official Warframe trading guidance lists Legendary Cores among tradeable mods. Trading requires both players to meet the game’s account and transaction rules.
- Each trader must have Mastery Rank 2 or higher.
- TennoGuard two-factor authentication must be enabled.
- Trades can be conducted at a Clan Dojo Trading Post or through Maroo’s Bazaar.
- Both players must confirm the final transaction.
- Each side needs enough Credits to pay the applicable trade tax.
Official guidance also warns against exchanging Warframe items for cash or non-Warframe goods. A normal in-game trade is different from a third-party cash sale, which is not the supported trading method.

Should you use or trade your Core?
There is no universal answer. Compare the resource bill you would avoid with the value of having Platinum now, then account for how difficult the Core would be for you to replace.

Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Use it when resource savings are the priority
- You are ready to max an expensive Primed, Umbral, or other high-cost mod.
- You lack the Endo or Credits for the normal upgrade.
- The mod will be used broadly across your builds rather than sitting in storage.
- Saving millions of combined resources would accelerate your immediate progression more than a trade would.
Trade it when flexibility matters more
- You already have ample Endo and Credits.
- You need Platinum for several near-term upgrades and can postpone maxing the mod.
- You do not yet know which mod deserves the Core.
- The agreed Platinum value is more useful to your account than the resource bill you would skip.
Do not decide from an old price screenshot or an undated forum post. Player-market values move with supply, demand, updates, and regional trading habits. If you trade, compare several recent offers and confirm the exact item and tax before accepting.
Practical decision checklist
- Choose the specific mod you would max and check its normal Endo and Credit cost.
- Confirm that the mod is eligible for a Legendary Core and that you want it at maximum rank.
- Estimate how soon you could earn the Endo and Credits without the Core.
- Compare that benefit with current Platinum offers from legitimate in-game traders.
- If using the Core, review the selected mod and maximum-rank result before confirming; the item is consumed immediately.
- If trading, use a Clan Dojo Trading Post or Maroo’s Bazaar, verify the other player’s item and your Platinum amount, and confirm only after the trade window is correct.
Important limitations and changing rules
A Legendary Core is single-use, does not refund a previous upgrade, and does not guarantee that a mod is useful in every build. The reported drop probability, progression rewards, eligibility rules, and trade requirements may change in a future update. For that reason, treat the 0.18% figure and the 2024 savings estimates as historical guide information, and verify live reward tables and account requirements in the current Warframe client or official documentation.
