GTA Online Business Battles are optional Freemode contests in which players race to claim event cargo and deliver it. If you own a Nightclub, successful deliveries can add eligible goods to its warehouse; according to a community-maintained guide, players without a Nightclub can still deliver cargo for cash and RP. The objectives and package counts vary by event, so a Business Battle is best understood as a cargo-and-delivery activity rather than one fixed mission.
How a Business Battle works
- Notice the event. Watch for a Freemode Event notification and activity on the map. Rockstar says Freemode Event notifications are purple and explain how to join; some events require travelling to a location or finding a vehicle. These are general Freemode directions, not a guarantee of when a Business Battle will appear. See Rockstar’s Freemode Events guide.
- Reach the event site and secure cargo. Other players may be competing for the same goods. Depending on the event, you may collect packages directly, use a vehicle, or complete additional combat or hacking objectives. The community-maintained GTA Wiki Business Battles guide describes several structures, including battles with two crates and variants involving eight.
- Deliver the cargo before the event ends. A successful drop-off is the point at which the activity pays off: Nightclub owners can add eligible goods to warehouse inventory if there is room. The community guide says that when the relevant goods are already full, the delivery gives cash and RP instead; it also describes a marked cash-and-RP drop-off for players without a Nightclub.
Do you need a Nightclub?
No, according to the community-maintained GTA Wiki guide: it describes a marked delivery point where players without a Nightclub can receive cash and RP. A Nightclub matters if your goal is to turn eligible Battle cargo into warehouse stock. The guide says that the goods are added when there is available capacity, so check the relevant warehouse stock before treating a delivery as a way to build inventory. Rockstar’s general Freemode support page does not specify these Business Battle reward details, so treat them as community-documented mechanics that may change.

Do Business Battles require a public session?
Rockstar says Freemode Events are available in private sessions as well as other session types, and participation is voluntary: you can ignore a notification if you do not want to take part. Its support page also notes that many events require a minimum number of participants, but it does not give a Business Battle-specific threshold. Availability in a private session therefore does not guarantee that a battle will trigger there or that enough players will be present.

Aircraft Carrier Assault and Factory Raid
Rockstar’s 2020 update notes describe Aircraft Carrier Assault and Factory Raid as Business Battle variants in which players compete over eight packages, compared with two in earlier battles. The larger package count is an official distinction for those variants, not a rule that applies to every Business Battle. See Rockstar’s update notes.

UFO Battle
Rockstar also describes a UFO-themed battle in which players cooperate to fight Merryweather agents and take extraterrestrial equipment to Omega’s shack. It is an example of how the objective can involve more than simply picking up and delivering crates; Rockstar’s update description leaves some details redacted.
Other cargo described by the community guide
The GTA Wiki guide lists cargo connected with nightclub products and businesses, including cocaine, meth, weed, counterfeit cash, and forged documents, as well as weapons, cargo, and special event goods. This is a community guide’s list, not a complete official catalogue, and the cargo available depends on the activity.

What to consider before joining
- Objective: Check whether the event calls for a direct pickup, a vehicle run, or a multi-step combat or hacking sequence.
- Warehouse capacity: If you want Nightclub stock, available room for the relevant goods affects whether a delivery adds inventory.
- Route and competition: The trip to the drop-off and interference from other players can make delivery riskier than securing the cargo itself.
- Session and participation: Freemode Events are optional and can be offered in private sessions, but Rockstar does not publish a fixed Business Battle participant minimum in its support guidance.
The community guide reports a 20–30 minute event limit and a 20-minute cooldown between activities, but Rockstar’s cited support and update pages do not confirm those timings. Treat them as approximate, potentially version-sensitive figures rather than dependable scheduling rules.
