AnTuTu is useful for one narrow job: comparing synthetic performance when the phones ran the same AnTuTu version, on the same platform, under comparable conditions. It is not a complete foldable-phone scorecard. A high result does not prove better battery life, cooler temperatures, sustained gaming, durability, or a smoother experience in every app.
For context, AnTuTu’s V11 global smartphone ranking, updated in August 2026, places the Galaxy Z Fold8 at rank 20 with 2,814,251 points. AnTuTu says that figure is the average of valid results for the model, not its best run. The ranking is monthly and global, covers popular models, and excludes the Chinese market. Treat the number as a starting point, then examine sustained workloads, thermal behavior, displays, portability, durability and value for your own use.

What an AnTuTu score actually measures
AnTuTu combines several synthetic tests into one score intended to describe a phone’s performance under a defined workload. The score can provide a quick relative signal: if two Android phones were tested with the same AnTuTu release and similar settings, the higher result generally indicates stronger performance in the benchmark’s CPU, graphics, memory and user-experience tasks.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
That signal is useful when you are sorting a long list of devices. It is not a specification such as RAM capacity or battery size, and it is not a guarantee that one phone will open every app faster. App code, operating-system scheduling, storage speed, display resolution, game optimization and thermal limits all affect what you feel in daily use. AnTuTu measures its own workload; it does not run every game, camera pipeline or productivity application you might use.

A ranking number is a population statistic, not a peak run
AnTuTu’s ranking note says: “The score shown is the average of all valid data for that device, not the highest score.” That distinction matters. A single screenshot from a review unit may show a peak result that is higher than the published ranking figure. Conversely, a phone can score well in a cool room and slow down after repeated runs when heat builds up.
Results can vary with firmware, background processes, battery level, temperature, performance modes and other settings. Samsung cautions that actual performance depends on the environment, conditions, preinstalled applications and software. A ranking average smooths some of that variation, but it does not remove it.
How to read the Galaxy Z Fold8 figure
| Item | What is established | How to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Model | Galaxy Z Fold8 | Use as a current foldable example, not as a universal winner. |
| AnTuTu release | V11 | Compare with other V11 results only. |
| Published score | 2,814,251 points | This is a model average of valid results, not a best run. |
| Ranking | 20 in AnTuTu’s global smartphone ranking | The list is monthly, global and limited to popular models. |
| Ranking update | August 2026 | Later software, devices or ranking methodology may change the position. |
| Geographic scope | Global list excluding the Chinese market | Do not assume it represents every regional model or market. |
Rank 20 does not mean the Fold8 is the twentieth-best phone for every buyer. It means the model’s V11 average occupied that position in that particular list and month. A different region, firmware build or benchmark release can produce a different ordering. The ranking also covers popular models, so a less common device may not appear even if it would score strongly.

Match the AnTuTu version first
AnTuTu’s ranking is explicitly V11. On September 22, 2026, AnTuTu announced a V12 public beta with more realistic usage scenarios and a refreshed interface. A V12 beta result is not directly interchangeable with a V11 result: the workloads, weighting or scoring scale may differ. Put the version beside every number in your notes and reject comparisons that mix releases unless you are only discussing the benchmark’s broad direction.

Keep the platform consistent
AnTuTu warns that its Android and iOS implementations use different platform technologies. Their scores may not be directly comparable. A very high Android result and a lower iOS result do not automatically establish which device is faster in real use. For foldable buying, the practical comparison is usually Android-to-Android, using the same AnTuTu release and similar test conditions.
Check what the number represents
- Average or single run: A published ranking average is different from a reviewer’s one-off result.
- Stable software: Note the operating-system and firmware versions where available.
- Test conditions: Record performance mode, battery state, ambient temperature and whether the phone was cool or already warm.
- Model configuration: Storage, memory and regional chipset variants can affect results; do not silently combine them.
If those details are missing, label the comparison as approximate rather than presenting the numbers as an exact league table.
Why a foldable needs more than one benchmark
Foldables combine two screens, a hinge, batteries split around the hinge, a thin chassis and a thermal system in a constrained volume. Samsung Executive Vice President and Senior Executive of Mobile R&D Office – Hardware Sunghoon Moon described the design problem this way: “With foldables, every component is interconnected. Making a device thinner, for example, means redesigning the display, hinge, battery, thermal system and internal architecture together.”

That interdependence changes how you interpret a short synthetic run. A phone can post a high burst score yet reduce clock speeds during a long game, video export or sustained multitasking session. The relevant questions are how long performance remains stable, how hot the surfaces become, whether brightness is reduced, and whether frame rates fluctuate.

Thermal design is product-specific
Samsung’s engineering explanation states: “As a device gets thinner, there is less room to manage the heat generated inside.” The company says it uses graphite and tailors the thermal structure to each product’s size and performance requirements. For the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Samsung reports that the graphite heat-dissipation layer volume increased by approximately 7% compared with the stated predecessor context. That is a design detail reported by the manufacturer, not independent evidence of a particular sustained benchmark result.
When evaluating a foldable, look for repeated or long-duration tests that report temperatures, frame-rate stability and performance over time. The available information does not establish matched independent sustained-performance results across the current foldable lineup, so a single AnTuTu table cannot settle which model is best for prolonged gaming or heavy editing.
What a higher score can—and cannot—tell you
What it can suggest
- A higher, same-version score can indicate greater headroom in the benchmark’s CPU, graphics, memory and interface workloads.
- It can help separate entry-level, midrange and flagship-class hardware before you investigate finer differences.
- Within one model family, a consistent gap may reveal a meaningful chipset or cooling difference, provided the tests were controlled.
What it does not establish
- Battery life: AnTuTu does not model your screen brightness, cellular signal, camera use or app mix over a full day.
- Cool operation: A short run can finish before heat limits appear.
- Everyday smoothness: App optimization, animation tuning and storage behavior can outweigh a small benchmark gap.
- Long-term durability: A score says nothing about hinge wear, crease behavior, repairability or display lifespan.
- Display utility: It does not tell you whether the inner screen’s size, aspect ratio and multitasking layout suit you.
How to compare foldables step by step
- Define your workload. Write down whether you care most about short gaming sessions, long gaming sessions, split-screen work, reading, photography, video editing or one-handed portability. The priority determines which evidence matters.
- Collect like-for-like scores. Record the AnTuTu version, platform, model variant, date and whether each value is an average or a single run. Exclude mixed V11/V12 comparisons.
- Separate burst from sustained performance. Prefer repeated runs, extended game tests or long exports that show temperatures and frame-rate stability. If no matched test exists, mark sustained performance as unknown rather than inferring it from the peak score.
- Inspect thermal behavior. Check whether the phone becomes uncomfortable, dims the screen, lowers clocks or shows stutter after warming up. Compare results taken under similar ambient conditions.
- Evaluate the two-screen experience. Consider cover-screen one-handed use, inner-screen reading area, keyboard space, game controls, app continuity and the weight you carry when folded.
- Check durability evidence. Read the warranty and repair terms for your region, and distinguish manufacturer validation claims from independent longevity testing.
- Price the complete purchase. Use the current regional price, storage tier, accessories, insurance and repair cost. The reviewed evidence does not establish current prices or comparative lifespan, so those remain buyer-specific checks.
- Make the decision from the whole record. Use AnTuTu as one filter, then select the phone whose sustained behavior, screens, portability and support fit your routine.
Comparison axes that matter on a foldable
| Axis | Questions to ask | Evidence quality |
|---|---|---|
| Benchmark comparability | Same AnTuTu version and platform? Average or peak? Similar settings? | High when all conditions are documented. |
| Sustained performance | Does performance hold after 15–30 minutes of gaming or repeated workloads? | Requires long or repeated tests; not established by the ranking alone. |
| Thermals | What temperatures, surface feel, throttling or brightness changes occur? | Product-specific and environment-dependent. |
| Form factor | Is the cover display comfortable one-handed, and is the inner display useful for reading or multitasking? | Highly personal; hands-on use matters. |
| Durability | What are the hinge, display, water-resistance, warranty and repair provisions? | Manufacturer claims and regional terms must be separated from independent evidence. |
| Value | How much do you value the larger screen, and what is the total ownership cost? | Depends on local pricing and priorities. |
Match the score to your use case
Gaming
Use the score to identify likely performance headroom, then prioritize long-session tests for the games you actually play. Check frame-rate consistency, touch response, heat and whether the inner display’s aspect ratio causes black bars or awkward controls. A short, high AnTuTu result cannot prove that a foldable will maintain its target frame rate for an hour.

Multitasking and productivity
For documents, email, browser tabs and split-screen work, the inner display, software window management and keyboard layout may matter more than a modest score difference. Samsung positions the Galaxy Z Fold8 for immersive viewing, reading and gaming, and the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra for multitasking and productivity on its expansive folding screen. Those are manufacturer product positions; verify independent software and sustained-performance tests before treating them as performance conclusions.

Reading and media
Screen size, aspect ratio, brightness, weight and hinge feel dominate this use case. AnTuTu does not measure text comfort, crease visibility, speaker quality or how often you will unfold the phone. A lower-scoring model with a more comfortable shape may be the better reader’s phone.
Portability and one-handed use
Cover-screen width, folded thickness and weight determine whether the phone is practical for quick replies and navigation. Benchmark points cannot compensate for a device that is awkward to hold or too heavy for your daily routine.
What durability claims mean
Samsung reports that the latest Galaxy Z series underwent more than 100 reliability validation tests covering drops, repeated folding, pressure, moisture and debris. This is a manufacturer-reported test count, not a comparative durability result or a promise of a specific service life. It tells you that validation work was performed; it does not tell you how another foldable would rank in identical testing or how an individual phone will age.
For a purchase decision, read the warranty exclusions, accidental-damage coverage, authorized repair options and local parts availability. Pay particular attention to display and hinge terms, because those components are central to the foldable experience and can be expensive to replace.
Common AnTuTu mistakes and how to avoid them
- Mixing V11 and V12: Put the release in the headline of your notes and compare within one version.
- Comparing Android with iOS directly: Follow AnTuTu’s warning about different platform implementations.
- Using a peak screenshot as a model average: Label it as a single run and record the conditions.
- Equating score with cooling: Look for sustained tests and temperatures.
- Reading rank as a buying recommendation: Remember that the list is monthly, global, popular-model-only and excludes China.
- Assuming a manufacturer claim is an independent result: Keep Samsung’s thermal, graphite and reliability statements in their proper context.
- Ignoring the screens: Decide whether you will actually use the inner display enough to justify the foldable’s compromises.
A practical decision rule
Choose the foldable with the higher same-version AnTuTu result only when your other requirements are already met and sustained evidence does not reveal a problem. If the scores are close, stop treating the benchmark as a tiebreaker and compare heat, long-session stability, displays, weight, hinge and support. If sustained data is unavailable, acknowledge the uncertainty rather than converting a synthetic number into a promise.
The Galaxy Z Fold8’s 2,814,251-point V11 average demonstrates how to read a ranking entry: identify the version, date, population and averaging method before drawing a conclusion. The number can help you shortlist a device, but your final choice should be based on how the foldable performs over the sessions you actually plan to have and how well its two-screen design fits your life.
