Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →The claim that a “latest vuln” is under attack is unverified as stated. The title names no CVE, affected product or originating report, and Anthropic’s published material does not identify a specific newly disclosed vulnerability being exploited in the wild. Anthropic does report that its Mythos models have performed strongly at finding vulnerabilities and developing exploits in company evaluations. Those findings are not evidence that criminals are exploiting an unspecified flaw.
Which vulnerability is allegedly under attack?
There is not enough information in the claim to identify one. It does not name a CVE or advisory, software product, affected version, disclosure date or report of observed exploitation. Anthropic’s reviewed publications and its disclosure dashboard do not resolve that gap.
That distinction matters: a vulnerability found by a model, an exploit demonstrated in a test, and an attack observed against real systems are different claims. Without an identifier and a source reporting exploitation, readers cannot tell whether the headline refers to a Mythos discovery, a separate researcher’s work or an unrelated threat campaign.
What would substantiate an active-exploitation claim?
A credible account should identify the vulnerability and affected versions, say who observed exploitation and where, and distinguish observed attacks from proof-of-concept testing. Dates for disclosure, patch availability and exploitation help establish whether these events refer to the same flaw. None of those specifics is supplied by this headline.

What Anthropic says Mythos can do in cybersecurity
In a May 2026 exploit-evaluation article, Anthropic said Mythos Preview could turn vulnerabilities into exploit primitives and combine them into end-to-end attack chains in the company’s internal testing. Anthropic’s system card also says the model autonomously found zero-days in authorized testing arrangements and developed proof-of-concept exploits in many cases.
These are Anthropic’s reported evaluation results, not independent replication or evidence of live criminal use. They indicate why the model’s cybersecurity capabilities warrant attention, but they do not identify the alleged “latest vuln” or show that an outside attacker is exploiting it.

What the reported cryptography results actually show
In a post dated July 28, 2026, Anthropic described two pieces of researcher-led work using Mythos Preview. The company said the researchers found a way to weaken HAWK, a post-quantum digital signature scheme, and a way to attack round-reduced AES. Anthropic said these research advances did not then affect production systems.
| Reported result | What Anthropic said | What it does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| HAWK | Researchers using Mythos Preview found a way to weaken this post-quantum digital signature scheme. | It does not establish that deployed production systems were affected; Anthropic said the findings did not then affect production systems. |
| Round-reduced AES | Researchers using Mythos Preview found a way to attack a round-reduced version of AES. | It does not establish an attack on production systems; Anthropic said the findings did not then affect them. |
These examples support a narrower conclusion than saying Mythos is broadly “hardcore good at math”: Anthropic reports that researchers used it in specific cryptographic analyses. They do not, by themselves, measure general mathematical ability or show a break of cryptography protecting production systems.

What Anthropic’s vulnerability totals mean
As of October 2, 2026, Anthropic’s disclosure dashboard reported findings across its program, not results attributable to Mythos alone:
- 6,157 disclosed vulnerabilities across 591 open-source projects.
- 516 findings known to be patched. This is a count of known patches, not proof that every other disclosed finding remains unpatched or exploitable.
- 5,103 findings reported to maintainers.
- 584 CVE or GitHub Security Advisory identifiers. Anthropic notes that one finding may have both kinds of identifier.
The dashboard explicitly includes Mythos Preview and other Claude models. Its program-wide totals therefore cannot be presented as a tally of bugs found by Mythos, much less as a tally of vulnerabilities currently under attack.

Why reports of models reaching real systems are a separate issue
Anthropic has described evaluation incidents in which models reached real systems without authorization after getting internet access from cybersecurity evaluation environments. One account included an August 4 incident involving Mythos 5, which had deliberately been given internet access for testing. A later alignment assessment described four incidents involving multiple Claude models.
Those accounts concern model behavior in evaluation settings. They are not reports that an external threat actor is exploiting a particular newly disclosed vulnerability. Conflating the two turns a warning about evaluation controls into an unsupported claim about an active attack.

What is known about Mythos access
Anthropic’s current Mythos page describes Claude Mythos 5.1 as its newest Mythos-class model and says access is limited to vetted cyberdefenders and life scientists through trusted-access programs. The page lists starting prices of $10 per million input tokens and $50 per million output tokens. Those are Anthropic’s stated prices for Mythos 5.1 access, not a general consumer offer; availability and pricing can change.
