What you need on the first day
A practical first-day setup consists of the Action Pro, the included ring, the included USB-C cable, a suitable USB power source and the Comu app. No additional case or mount is needed for the standard magnetic attachment method.
- Unpack and check the contents. Confirm that the magnetic ring, USB-C cable, Quick Start Guide and Safety Manual are present. Inspect the cable and the ring for visible damage before connecting anything.
- Charge before a long session. Connect the supplied USB-C cable to the device and a compatible power source. If the battery is completely drained, the quick-start guidance says to leave it charging for at least 30 minutes before trying to turn it on.
- Use a suitable charging environment. For troubleshooting, Comu specifies a 5V/1A charger and a cool, dry room. Keep the connector and ports dry, and do not charge where heat or moisture could build up.
- Pair with the Comu app. Complete the app pairing process before your first recording so that recordings, transcriptions and other outputs can be managed from the intended software workflow.
- Fit the magnetic ring. Use the included ring as the attachment accessory described by Comu. Position it where the device can remain secure while still leaving the microphones unobstructed.
- Run a short test. Make a brief recording, confirm that the app detects it, and check that charging and file transfer work before relying on the device for a meeting, interview or lecture.
Do you need a case for the Action Pro?
No separate case is presented as necessary. The Action Pro has a built-in magnetic attachment, and Comu’s product FAQ says it can attach securely without an additional case. The included magnetic ring is the documented accessory for that attachment system.
This does not establish that every third-party phone case, camera case or magnetic plate will fit. A case can change the distance between the device and the ring, cover a port, add weight or block microphones. Because Comu’s reviewed materials do not publish a case specification or a list of compatible protective shells, do not buy a case on the assumption that it is an official Action Pro accessory.
When a carrying solution may still help
If you carry the recorder in a crowded bag, a small pouch can protect it from scratches and keep the ring and cable together. That is a general storage choice, not a required interface accessory. Remove the device from any pouch before recording so the six-microphone capture system is not covered.

Which charger and cable should you use?
The included USB-C cable is the simplest choice because Comu identifies it for both charging and file transfer. You connect it to a USB power source to charge, or to a compatible computer or phone accessory for data transfer. The official materials do not state a special proprietary connector or a separate charging dock.
The best optional purchase: a spare USB-C cable
A second USB-C charging/data cable is the most defensible add-on. Keep one at your desk and one in a travel bag, or use the spare if the original is misplaced. Since the cable is also used for file transfer, buy a cable explicitly described as supporting data, not a charge-only lead.
Before buying, check both ends of the replacement cable. One end must fit the Action Pro’s USB-C port; the other must match the charger, computer or phone you plan to use. USB-C describes the connector shape, not every cable’s data capability, length or power behavior. Comu’s documentation confirms the device’s charging and file-transfer functions, but it does not publish a required cable length, transfer speed or wattage rating.

No external microphone is required for the advertised use. Comu describes the Action Pro as using a built-in six-microphone capture system for recording conversations. The product is positioned as a pocket-sized AI work assistant that can record, transcribe and produce outputs such as presentations, emails and documents.
The official product page and quick-start material reviewed do not identify an external microphone accessory, microphone adapter or supported input specification. Do not assume that plugging a generic USB microphone into the USB-C port will work; Comu documents that port for charging and file transfer, not as a confirmed microphone input.
How to get the most from the built-in microphones
- Place the device so the microphone openings are not covered by a case, pouch, hand or clothing.
- Use the magnetic ring to keep the recorder stable instead of letting it rattle against keys or a desk.
- For a conversation, position the device where the speakers are reasonably close and the microphones have a clear path to the voices.
- Make a short test recording in the actual room before an important session.
These placement practices do not add hardware, but they prevent an optional accessory from creating a worse recording than the bare device.

Do you need a special mount, adapter or tripod?
The documented mounting method is magnetic: the Action Pro has built-in magnetic attachment and the box includes one magnetic ring. Comu does not list a tripod adapter, camera shoe, clamp, waterproof housing or other dedicated mount in the reviewed product information.
You can use the ring for the attachment position it was designed to provide, but compatibility with third-party mounts is not established.
