The Westinghouse WHI644BA is a 60 cm, four-zone induction cooktop with a 7.4 kW hardwired connection. Its published specifications cover the essentials—dimensions, zone sizes, controls and safety features—but the public evidence does not establish how it performs in independent testing: CHOICE lists the model as discontinued and keeps its detailed scores behind membership. Check the cut-out and electrical supply before considering a replacement or remaining stock.
What the WHI644BA offers
Westinghouse describes the WHI644BA as a black ceramic-glass induction cooktop with four cooking zones. The manufacturer lists a two-year domestic warranty. Its published zone ratings are:

| Zone | Diameter | Published power |
|---|---|---|
| Left front | 210 mm | 2,300 W; 3,200 W boost |
| Left rear | 140 mm | 1,400 W |
| Right front | 140 mm | 1,400 W |
| Right rear | 180 mm | 1,800 W |
These are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements of cooking speed or heat distribution. The front-left zone is the only one for which the product page lists a boost rating. Match cookware to the zone sizes, especially if you regularly use larger pans.
Controls and safety features
The product page lists touch controls, a programmable countdown timer of up to 99 minutes, Pause and Keep Warm functions, fault indication, residual-heat warning lamps, hot-surface indication, safety cut-off, child lock and sound-off.
#1 Best Overall
- PORTABLE INDUCTION BURNER: Duxtop induction cooktop uses 110/120 V 15 amp electrical outlet–standard in all North American homes. ETL listed and built to North American electrical standards. It is lightweight and compact for easy handling and storage
- Choose from 20 preset power levels (100 to 1800 W) and 20 preset temperature level settings (100 °F to 460 °F). With an 83% energy efficiency, induction burner is more efficient than traditional gas or electric stoves
- DIGITAL LCD SENSOR: Touch control panel: child safety lock keeps the cooking and timer settings from being accidentally changed once they have been set; fast boil button; keep warm button (for 1-30 minutes at 140 °F); up to 10-hour timer button
- Induction stoves rely on cookware to heat, so it’s essential to choose magnetic bottom cookware with a minimum diameter of 5 inches. Auto-pan detection will shut off automatically after 60 seconds if no cookware, or the incorrect cookware is detected
- Although induction itself is a noiseless process, there may be high pitched sounds from the cookware due to multiple layers of metals sandwiched together. Please allow the induction cooker to cool down before cleaning
Westinghouse says Pause drops operating zones to Keep Warm and lets the user resume by touching Pause again. That is the manufacturer’s description of the feature, not an independent assessment of how reliably it works in use. The fact sheet also describes touch-on-glass controls and residual-heat indicators.
Will it fit your kitchen?
The cooktop measures 590 mm wide, 520 mm deep and 46 mm high. The listed bench cut-out is 560 × 490 mm. Confirm the existing opening and surrounding bench dimensions rather than relying on the nominal 60 cm category; dimensions for both the appliance and its installation opening matter.

What independent review evidence is available?
CHOICE’s public listing marks the WHI644BA discontinued and gives its test year as “2023 or earlier.” It displays a price of $1,849, but that is a listing figure, not evidence of a current offer. CHOICE’s expert rating, performance scores, pros and cons, and recommended-product information are available only to members, so the public listing cannot support a performance ranking.

The public specifications on CHOICE broadly align with the manufacturer’s: four zones, 60 cm width, 59 × 52 cm product dimensions, 56 × 49 cm installation dimensions, 7.4 kW maximum output and a two-year warranty. The manufacturer’s product page also displays a customer-review rating, but without a review date range; it is not a substitute for independent comparative testing.
Westinghouse’s marketing describes induction as faster and more efficient, including an “almost twice as fast” comparison. The product material does not define the test conditions behind that comparison, so it should not be treated as a verified result for this model or a guarantee of everyday cooking times.

- 【CHECK YOUR PAN FIRST — MAGNET TEST + FLAT BASE 4 –10 IN】Works only with magnetic, flat-bottom cookware: cast iron, magnetic 430 stainless steel, or enameled iron. Fridge-magnet test on the flat bottom: clings = works; slides = no heat. Not for aluminum, copper, glass, ceramic, or non-magnetic 304 stainless steel. Measure the flat magnetic base, not the rim: 4 –10 in (10–26 cm). Round-bottom/warped pans or small magnetic dots won’t work. “E0” = pan mismatch, not a defect.

Availability, repair and replacement checks
Because CHOICE labels the model discontinued, treat any offer you find as stock that needs checking, not proof of ongoing production. Confirm the exact model, condition, seller, warranty terms and local availability directly before committing.
Westinghouse Parts Australia lists a user-interface board assembly as compatible with WHI644BA, but its listing says the model checker cannot find the model and directs customers to check against the manual or manufacturer. Treat this as a repair lead only: confirm compatibility using the appliance product number and the relevant manual before ordering.
How to compare it with another cooktop
Compare like with like rather than relying on the 60 cm label alone. Check the following against the alternative’s published specifications and any accessible independent testing:
- Product dimensions and required cut-out.
- Connected load and whether the appliance is hardwired.
- Zone diameters and power ratings, including which zones have a boost rating.
- Controls and useful functions, such as Pause, Keep Warm and the timer.
- Safety indicators, automatic cut-off and child lock.
- Warranty and whether the model is currently available in your market.
- Independent laboratory results, where the scores and test context are accessible.
CHOICE’s public WHI644BA page does not expose its expert scores, so the available evidence here cannot establish where this cooktop ranks for cooking performance.
