The listed external dimensions are 590 × 520 × 51mm, while the specified benchtop cutout is 560 × 490mm. The cooktop’s outside dimensions are not the opening size: compare the cutout figure with the hole in the benchtop, then check the required clearances and installation conditions in the manual. Westinghouse’s dimension sheet says its dimensions are a guide and directs installers to the product manual for complete instructions. Westinghouse lists a 4.6kW connected load, hardwired connection and maximum current rating of 20A. A hardwired appliance is not a plug-in replacement: the existing circuit and installation need to be assessed for this cooktop. Westinghouse describes its PowerReady induction cooktops as “designed to work with standard household power, removing the need for complex electrical upgrades,” but that product statement is not a guarantee that every home will need no electrical work. Will your pans suit all four zones?
The zones differ in diameter and power, so do not assume a favourite pan will work equally well everywhere. CHOICE lists usable minimum pan diameters of 12.5cm for three zones and 15cm for one. Westinghouse’s published product information identifies PowerBoost and gives the boosted figure for the left-front zone. It does not state boost wattages for the other zones in the cited specifications. Westinghouse product page
What Hob2Hood needs
Hob2Hood is a compatibility-dependent feature, not a benefit available with any rangehood. Westinghouse says compatible rangehoods can communicate with the cooktop and adjust fan speed and airflow automatically. What independent testing tells you—and what it does not
CHOICE’s public listing identifies the WHI642BE and supplies specifications; it says the model is among those tested from 2024 onwards. On the page consulted, however, its expert rating, cooking-performance score, ease-of-use score and other test results are available only to members. What to check before buying
- Measure the existing benchtop opening and compare it with the 560 × 490mm cutout specification; verify clearances in the manual.
- Ask a licensed electrician to assess the hardwired 4.6kW, 20A appliance against the home’s circuit and installation.
- Compare everyday pan bases with the zone diameters and minimum pan sizes, especially the 15cm minimum listed for one zone.
- Confirm that the installed rangehood is compatible with Hob2Hood if automatic fan control matters to you.
