If you are considering one used or from remaining stock, weigh its included tools and ongoing bag and filter availability against its weight, uncertain variant-specific specifications, condition and asking price.
What the W9000 is—and what a review can establish
CHOICE classifies the W9000 as a bagged barrel vacuum and marks it discontinued. Its recorded price of $1,299 is a listing figure captured on 7 October 2026, not a current offer. A separate BIG W listing covers the W9000 PH, but a product page does not establish that the model is broadly available or in stock locally.

The public CHOICE page extract discloses some measurements, but gates its expert rating and detailed cleaning, carpet, ease-of-use, pet-hair, edge-cleaning and noise scores behind membership. Its visible power measurement is not a substitute for a cleaning score, so the available evidence cannot support a definitive independent performance verdict.
Specifications vary by source and variant
The published figures do not line up exactly. Sources may describe different packages or use different measuring conventions, or a listing may contain an error; they do not explain the discrepancy. Treat each set as source-specific rather than combining them into one definitive specification.

CHOICE also lists a telescopic wand, hose, carpet/hard-floor tool, power head, turbo brush head, crevice tool, upholstery tool and dusting brush among the supplied items. The BIG W W9000 PH page describes four-stage HEPA filtration and makes performance claims as a retailer. Its footnote refers to independent laboratory testing in 2017 and GfK Australian sales data from May 2017, but does not expose the underlying report or method in the available page. Those claims should not be treated as a current independent test result.
Before buying, check the label on the actual machine and the package contents. In particular, confirm whether it is a W9000 or W9000 PH and which heads, tools and warranty apply to that exact unit.

What owners report
ProductReview.com.au showed a 3.1 rating from 63 reviews in a result captured on 7 October 2026. That is a snapshot of customer ratings, not a controlled test or a representative estimate of failure rates.
Some reviewers describe good cleaning on carpet, tile or upholstery. Others report concerns about weight, maneuverability, clogging, attachments, cord rewind, reliability, service or value. These are individual experiences, not proof that every machine has those problems—or that the vacuum will perform alike in every home.

Bags, filters and the cost of keeping one
Listings identify genuine W9000 7 Series bags, W9000 filter kits and a 35mm combination floor tool. Their existence makes ongoing consumables and compatibility worth checking before purchase; it does not establish current stock at a particular retailer. Search by the full model name, such as “Wertheim W9000 vacuum bags,” and verify the listing against the exact machine before ordering. Do not assume a product labelled for another 7 Series model will fit.
How to assess a used or remaining-stock W9000
- Verify the identity. Read the unit’s model label and confirm whether it is W9000 or W9000 PH. Compare the actual package contents with what the seller says is included.
- Check the tools. Confirm the floor heads and accessories you need are present. Inspect the motorised powerhead and hose for visible damage, and test the powerhead if possible.
- Try the controls. Test the switches and cord rewind rather than assuming they work. These are practical checks, not evidence that all W9000 units commonly fail in these ways.
- Price ongoing supplies. Check the availability and price of compatible bags and filters for the exact variant before committing.
- Judge the whole offer. Compare the asking price and condition with the warranty and service access offered for that specific unit. Do not treat CHOICE’s recorded $1,299 figure as a current market quote.
When it may—or may not—make sense
The W9000 may suit someone who finds a well-kept unit at a price that reflects its condition, values a bagged format and can confirm access to compatible supplies. It is a less straightforward choice if you need a current model with clearly published independent cleaning scores, light handling, or assured local stock and support. The available information is not enough to name a comparative winner.
