To attach a webcam to a monitor, use the mount supplied for that specific model: set an adjustable clip over the top edge, or secure a designed adhesive or micro-suction mount as its instructions specify. Then connect the camera to your computer and adjust its angle. Mounts differ, so check the webcam’s model-specific directions rather than assuming one attachment method fits every display.
Identify the mount before attaching the webcam
Webcams may use an adjustable clip or hinged base, a micro-suction mount, or a separate adapter. Check the instructions for your webcam model and make sure its mount is intended for the monitor’s edge, bezel, or back surface. The manufacturers’ examples use different mechanisms, and they do not establish universal fit across monitor thicknesses, edge shapes, bezels, or screen materials.

As you check the fit, consider whether the mount sits firmly, whether you can adjust the camera angle, and whether the camera or clip blocks any part of the display.
Attach an adjustable clip to the monitor’s top edge
- Open the webcam’s clip or hinged base, following its instructions.
- Set the mount over the monitor’s top edge or bezel.
- Adjust the rear foot or base until the webcam sits firmly. Dell’s WB3023 instructions describe this approach for its universal clip; that fit guidance is specific to the model.
Do not force a clip onto an edge that does not accommodate it securely. Check the webcam maker’s directions for an appropriate alternative.

Secure a micro-suction mount
For Logitech MX BRIO, Logitech’s Getting Started instructions say: “Wipe the back of your monitor before mounting.” Its stated sequence is to open the mount, remove the protective film from the micro-suction pad, press the pad against the back of the monitor, connect the cable, and attach the webcam. Follow the instructions for your own model; this method is not a general procedure for other mounts.
Connect the camera and adjust the view
After securing the mount, connect the webcam to the computer using the cable and setup steps specified by its manufacturer. Connector types, any required software, and camera controls vary by model. Tilt or pan the camera as its design allows to frame the view.

Use desk placement or a tripod when the monitor mount does not fit
Some webcams support placement on a desk or tripod as well as on a display. Microsoft documents desk, display, and tripod placement for its Modern Webcam; Logitech and Dell also document tripod options for supported models. Before using a tripod, confirm that your webcam has a compatible thread or that you have the required adapter. Do not assume that every webcam fits every tripod.
Check these points before settling on a position
- Edge and shape: Confirm that the supplied mount suits your monitor’s edge or back surface.
- Security: Make sure the webcam sits firmly rather than resting precariously.
- Viewing area: Check that the camera and its mount do not block the display where you need to see it.
- Adjustment: Verify that you can aim the camera as needed without loosening its mount.
- Tripod fit: Check for a compatible thread or adapter before using a separate support.
Manufacturer setup instructions describe individual products, not comparative tests or a guarantee of compatibility with every monitor. When fit is uncertain, use the webcam maker’s instructions to choose a supported placement.
