Several hosting providers include a domain registration for the first year when you buy an eligible hosting plan. The domain is not free forever: renewal charges apply, and the offer may require a prepaid term, a specific extension, or redemption before a deadline. The four providers below are options with documented offers, not a performance ranking; compare the commitment and renewal costs before choosing.
How to compare a free-domain hosting offer
Start with the total you must pay for the hosting term, then check what hosting costs when the promotion ends. A low monthly figure may depend on paying for a year or more upfront. Separately, verify which domain endings qualify, how soon you must claim the domain, and what it will cost to renew.

- Term and eligibility: Confirm the hosting plan and billing period required; monthly plans may not qualify.
- Domain rules: Check eligible extensions, redemption deadlines, and whether the benefit covers only the first registration year.
- Ongoing cost: Compare the hosting renewal price and the domain’s renewal rate. The latter may not be listed alongside the hosting price.
- Cancellation: Find out whether cancelling hosting during the first year triggers a charge for the domain.
Prices and eligibility can vary by country, promotion, and checkout state. The figures below are provider-published offers accessed in 2026, not independent price or performance tests.
Four hosting providers with a documented domain offer
Bluehost: a WordPress-oriented option with published renewal pricing
Bluehost includes one domain for one year with qualifying 12- or 36-month hosting plans. You must redeem it within 90 days. The domain automatically renews at the then-current rate after the first year unless you cancel, and premium domains are excluded. Check the provider’s plan and domain policy for the current eligible extensions and terms.
#1 Best Overall
The Starter offer displayed at $3.99 per month for a 36-month term, renewing at $9.99 per month. The listed plan features include 10 websites, 10 GB NVMe storage, SSL, weekly backups, a migration tool, and 24/7 chat. Those prices and features are provider-published, not independently verified. Bluehost is also included in WordPress.org’s hosting directory; directory inclusion is not a comparative performance rating.
SiteGround: a one-year domain with a steep hosting renewal increase
SiteGround says its plans include a free domain for one year; its FAQ limits the no-extra-cost extensions to .com, .org, or .net. StartUp was displayed at $2.99 per month when prepaid for 12 months, then $17.99 per month. The plan page lists one website, 10 GB storage, SSL, CDN, backups, email, and support. See the SiteGround hosting page for current terms. The introductory monthly figure is tied to the prepaid year and should not be treated as the continuing monthly cost.

DreamHost: a registration credit for qualifying annual plans
DreamHost offers one free domain-registration credit to eligible new accounts on annual Web Hosting, qualifying annual Managed VPS, or annual DreamPress. Monthly Web Hosting and monthly DreamPress do not qualify. The credit covers the first registration year, applies only to listed extensions, and must be redeemed within the first three months. Later domain renewals are charged at regular rates. The domain-credit terms do not establish a comparable current hosting price, so check the live plan page before buying.
HostGator: eligible plans require a 12-, 24-, or 36-month cycle
HostGator’s offer applies to eligible newly purchased Shared, WordPress, Cloud, or eCommerce packages on 12-, 24-, or 36-month cycles, with a limited choice of domain extensions. The domain renews at the regular rate. Cancelling during the first year can trigger a domain fee; the provider’s FAQ gives a different amount for .com domains than for other eligible domains. Hosting promotions apply to initial terms and renew at regular hosting rates. Read the plan offer and domain eligibility FAQ before choosing a term.

What the offer pages do—and do not—establish
The listed pages document eligibility, selected plan features, and some prices. They do not establish an independently tested winner for uptime, speed, or support quality. Treat provider claims as descriptions of their own offers, not as comparative test results. A sensible choice depends on whether the plan fits your site and whether you are comfortable with its full initial payment, renewal price, domain rules, and cancellation terms.
