In a follow-up indexing audit, Nova Solutions found that two important product pages were live and linked but still among 34 sitemap-listed pages the company said had not yet been crawled. The audit also exposed a redirect that ended at a 404 and a canonical URL that had used the wrong version of the domain. The practical lesson: publishing a fix and confirming it worked are different steps.

What the follow-up audit found
A redirect that ended at a 404
The article reports that an older redirect pattern remained after an earlier fix. Its first response was HTTP 308, which looked healthy when checked alone. But following the redirect led to a destination returning 404. The first hop did not reveal the failure; checking the whole path did.
A canonical using the bare domain
One page’s canonical URL used the bare domain, while the site’s other pages and redirect rules used the www address. Little says the live canonical tag had already been corrected when the team checked it, even though Search Console still showed a status reflecting the prior crawl. That difference made it important to distinguish the current page from an older report state.

Thirty-four pages discovered but not yet crawled
Nova Solutions reported that 34 pages listed in its sitemap had been discovered but not yet crawled at the time of the check. Two were product pages for roofing and restaurants. The company described those pages as live, internally linked, and included in the sitemap. The article does not establish that the reported count was independently verified.
Little attributed the backlog to a site-level authority and crawl-allocation constraint. The account does not provide independent evidence for that cause, so it should be read as the publisher’s explanation for its own site—not as a general rule about why pages on other sites are not crawled.

How the team checked whether fixes worked
The process described in the article was to review reports in Search Console, then inspect current behavior directly. For the redirect, that meant following the chain through to its final destination rather than stopping at the first response. For the canonical, it meant checking the live tag rather than treating a historic status as proof of the page’s current setup.

- Inspect the live behavior. Check the current URL, follow redirects to the final destination, and inspect the page’s live canonical tag.
- Compare the two. Decide whether the report reflects current behavior or an earlier crawl, and whether the live page now behaves as intended.
Little summarized the distinction this way: “Publishing a fix and confirming it worked are two different steps.” — Landon Little, author, Nova Solutions article, September 5, 2026.

What this audit does—and does not—show
The account shows why checking the first redirect response or relying only on a previous report can miss a problem in a specific audit. It does not establish a universal cause for uncrawled pages, nor does it independently confirm the reported site findings. The article also makes no claim that the fixes improved rankings: Little said there had not been enough time to isolate their effects.
