Start by checking whether the show or channel is available through a service in the Philippines. Catalogs change by country, and a VPN is not a dependable way to turn a Philippine subscription into a US one: Hulu and YouTube TV explicitly restrict international access, while one September 2026 report found that some US network websites played over VPN connections but several subscription services did not reach playback.
Check Philippine availability before trying to reach a US catalog
Search for the specific show, event, or channel in services available where you live. Streaming rights differ by country, so a title carried in the US may be absent from a Philippine catalog—or available through a different local service.

Disney+ changes its catalog by location
Disney+ says travelers can stream content available in the country or region they are visiting. Having a Philippine account does not mean you will see the US catalog while in the Philippines. Read Disney+ travel guidance.

Netflix says its licensed catalog varies by country. Its help guidance for users in the Philippines says that when Netflix detects a VPN, it hides the viewer’s region and shows titles available globally. A VPN may therefore narrow what appears rather than reliably reveal the US library. See Netflix’s VPN guidance.

What the September 2026 VPN test found
A Gizmodo report published September 24, 2026, says it connected NordVPN, Proton VPN, and ExpressVPN to Seattle servers and opened US network websites in a browser. It reported playback on CBS, ABC, NBC, PBS, and Fox with each of those providers. In the same test, Hulu, Peacock, and YouTube TV loaded sign-up pages; the report did not describe successful viewing on those services. Read the reported test.
These are the report’s observations at that time, not independent tests by this publication or a guarantee of future access. Results may differ by account, device, network, server, and date. The test does not establish that every US network stream, paid service, or VPN connection will work from the Philippines.

Know the official limits before relying on a VPN
Hulu says it does not support anonymizers or proxies
Hulu says its standard service is intended for members of a single US household and requires a US-issued payment method at signup. It also says Hulu + Live TV subscribers cannot stream internationally. Its help page states: “Hulu doesn’t work with anonymizers or proxy services.” That published policy takes precedence over assumptions based on a VPN test elsewhere. Check Hulu’s international-use guidance.

Peacock’s test result is not a published policy
The September 2026 report found that Peacock loaded a sign-up page rather than playing video during its test. That observation alone does not establish Peacock’s current international policy or prove that every account will behave the same way.
Choose an approach based on what you want to watch
| What you want | Practical first step | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| A particular show on a service available in the Philippines | Search the local catalog first. | Catalogs are location-specific; Disney+ and Netflix both describe regional differences. |
| US network website streams | Treat the September 2026 report as a time-stamped indication, not a promise. | It reported playback for CBS, ABC, NBC, PBS, and Fox through three Seattle VPN connections, but outcomes can change. |
| Hulu or Hulu + Live TV | Read Hulu’s current eligibility and location rules before subscribing. | Hulu says it does not work with anonymizers or proxies; Live TV subscribers cannot stream internationally. |
| YouTube TV | Check YouTube TV’s travel policy before relying on it abroad. | YouTube TV says programs are unavailable during international travel. |
| Peacock | Confirm current availability and signup eligibility directly with the service. | The cited report saw a sign-up page, not successful playback; that test is not a general policy statement. |
A streaming device helps with playback, not location access
Amazon lists the Fire TV Stick Basic Edition as supported in the Philippines, but support for a device does not guarantee that a specific app or title is available there. Amazon cautions that content availability varies by country and that some apps may not work after moving to another country. Confirm the exact device model and the desired app’s Philippine availability before buying. Check Fire TV country support and Amazon’s app availability guidance.

A practical way to decide
- Identify the exact program or channel. A title, a live US network stream, and a paid US subscription can have different availability rules.
- Check services operating in the Philippines. Search their current catalogs before paying for another subscription or device.
- Read the service’s location policy. Hulu and YouTube TV publish explicit international limits; do not treat a VPN’s ability to connect as proof the service permits or will deliver playback.
- Use VPN test results narrowly. The September 2026 Seattle-server report is relevant only as a snapshot of the specific websites and services it tested.
- Check the app on your exact playback device. A supported Fire TV model does not ensure that a particular app or US catalog will be available in the Philippines.
