An X post quoted in the report says the meteor entered the frame at 1:03:43 a.m. local time on October 6. That is the post’s stated time, not an instrument-verified timestamp.
What happened over Arizona?
The object appeared as a bright fireball, flaring as it descended through the atmosphere and seemingly breaking apart near the horizon. That visual appearance does not confirm that it disintegrated completely or reached the ground.

Astrophotographer Andrew McCarthy described it as “Visibly green/turquoise with pieces breaking off, glowed brightly until about 10 degrees off the horizon”. He also called it an “Absolutely insane sky-crossing meteor just now in Arizona.” These are eyewitness descriptions, not measured brightness, trajectory, or composition data.
Why did the meteor look green?
A fireball is an especially bright meteor: a meteoroid entering Earth’s atmosphere and glowing as atmospheric interaction slows and heats it. Space.com notes that a vivid green hue can potentially indicate relatively high magnesium content, citing the National Park Service. The color alone does not establish that this particular object contained magnesium.

Did the meteor hit the ground?
It is not confirmed. The report provides no verified endpoint, ground impact, or meteorite recovery. McCarthy speculated, “My best guess is it ‘landed’ somewhere over Tonto national forest,” but that was a guess rather than a confirmed location.
