No reliable evidence establishes that Mark Zuckerberg was drinking Guinness for the first time—or that the sip shown was his last. The viral clip documents one moment on John Collison’s Cheeky Pint podcast, while Zuckerberg’s only reported explanation was: “that’s just my face.”
What happened in the viral Guinness clip
Zuckerberg appeared on John Collison’s Cheeky Pint podcast alongside Meta AI executive Alexandr Wang while discussing Muse Wonder. The show uses a pub-style setting, so the guests were filmed with drinks in front of them.

In the widely shared 12-second excerpt, Zuckerberg lifts a pint of Guinness, takes a sip, briefly swills the stout, pauses and puts the glass down. The Journal reported that the clip passed 13 million views and 100,000 likes in 2026.

What Zuckerberg said about the expression
A post on X asked about Zuckerberg’s reaction. His direct reply, as reported, was: “that’s just my face.” That sentence addresses the facial expression, but it does not say whether he enjoyed Guinness, disliked it, had tasted it previously or intended to drink it again.
Did he bring the Guinness from Dublin?
Yes. The speaker-attributed interview transcript records Zuckerberg telling Collison, “That’s a keg of Guinness that I brought you.” When asked where it came from, he answered “Dublin,” added that he had just been there that week and said it was a good occasion to get the Guinness going.

That exchange establishes that Zuckerberg supplied Guinness for the recording. It does not establish that the keg—or the pint in the clip—was his first experience with the stout. Bringing a keg to a podcast is not a drinking-history statement.
Was it his first Guinness?
No source in the available reporting verifies that claim. The footage proves only that he took at least one sip during the interview. It contains no biographical account of his previous drinks, and neither the transcript nor Zuckerberg’s public response identifies the occasion as a first tasting.

IBTimes UK specifically cautioned that the video cannot establish whether he disliked Guinness, was surprised by its taste, felt unwell or was drinking beer for the first time. “First beer” and “first Guinness” were viewer jokes and inferences rather than confirmed facts.
Was it his last Guinness?
That is even less knowable. No reported source documents a final Guinness drinking occasion for Zuckerberg. A single public appearance cannot show what he drank before or after filming, so “last Guinness” is an internet premise, not a verifiable conclusion.

Did Zuckerberg finish the pint?
The available scene report does not prove that he did. The Guardian described him as having consumed roughly half the pint after 1 hour and 20 minutes. It also reported that another full pint was present after an apparent filming break. Those observations describe what was visible during production; they do not reveal how much Zuckerberg ultimately drank or whether he liked it.
The Guardian’s humorous descriptions of the scene should therefore be read as reportage, not as evidence of Zuckerberg’s private opinion about the beer.

Was the Guinness moment staged?
The podcast’s pub-style format explains why Guinness was on camera, and the transcript shows that Zuckerberg had brought a keg for the occasion. Nothing in the reported clip or transcript proves that his facial reaction was scripted, manufactured or staged. Conversely, the material does not provide enough behind-the-scenes information to certify that every part of the moment was spontaneous. The defensible conclusion is simply that the sip occurred during a filmed interview.
Why the clip attracted so much attention
The reaction became a meme because it compresses an ambiguous expression into a recognizable social question: did the guest like the drink? Guinness is a globally familiar stout, and the contrast between a high-profile technology executive and an apparently uncertain sip made the 12-second clip easy to share. The Journal’s reported view and like totals measure the reach of the video, not the truth of the theories attached to it.
The Guardian reported that Guinness sells about 1.88 billion pints globally each year. It also described Guinness 0.0 as the UK’s No. 1 non-alcoholic beer. Those figures provide context for the brand’s visibility, but they say nothing about Zuckerberg’s personal drinking habits.

Guinness background behind the pub setting
According to the Guardian’s account, Arthur Guinness began brewing porter in the 1770s, and Guinness draft was first poured in 1959. The long-running pub association helps explain the visual language of Cheeky Pint: a pint, a conversational setting and a relaxed interview atmosphere. Historical prominence should not be confused with evidence about what one guest thought of a particular sip.
