Was the Google TV Streamer discontinued? Google’s official product pages still list the Google TV Streamer (4K), so a discontinuation has not been confirmed by the available official information. That listing does not guarantee stock at every retailer or in every country, and Google’s displayed price can vary by page and region.
What Google’s product pages say
Google’s Google TV product lineup lists the Google TV Streamer (4K) and displays a starting price of $149.99. The listing is evidence that Google has not publicly removed the product from that lineup; it is not proof of live inventory at a particular store. The price was displayed on Google’s lineup page on October 12, 2026, and should be treated as volatile and regional. Check Google’s product lineup.

Google’s support page also continues to describe and compare the Streamer with Chromecast with Google TV. A product page, retailer listing, or support article can remain available even when stock is limited, so none of those alone settles whether a specific seller has units available. - Discontinued by Google: Google has ended the product’s sale or production. The official pages cited here do not confirm that.
- Out of stock: A particular retailer or regional Google Store has no units available at the moment. This can change without the product being discontinued.
- Retailer listing removed: One seller no longer shows the item. That does not establish Google’s decision or availability elsewhere.
- Price or page change: A displayed price may differ across Google pages or markets; that difference alone does not establish discontinuation.
The available information does not establish live checkout inventory across retailers or regions. For a purchase, check the local Google Store and the retailer’s current checkout page rather than inferring availability from a search result.

What the Streamer offers compared with Chromecast
The Google TV Streamer is a 4K box rather than a compact HDMI dongle. Google’s support comparison lists these features and specifications. The figures are Google-published specifications, not independent performance tests.
| Device | Form factor and resolution | Memory and storage | Notable features listed by Google |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chromecast with Google TV (HD) | Dongle; HD | Not stated in Google’s comparison cited here | Voice remote; see Google’s comparison for full details |
| Chromecast with Google TV (4K) | Dongle; up to 4K | 2 GB RAM; 8 GB storage | Voice remote; see Google’s comparison for full details |
| Google TV Streamer (4K) | Box; up to 4K | 4 GB RAM; 32 GB storage | Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos; redesigned voice remote with customizable button and remote-finding feature; built-in Ethernet; Thread, Matter, and Google Home functions |
Google also states that the Streamer’s CPU is 22% faster than Chromecast with Google TV (4K). That is Google’s stated comparison, not an independent benchmark. Google’s comparison page displays prices of $29.99 for Chromecast with Google TV (HD), $49.99 for Chromecast with Google TV (4K), and $99.99 for the Streamer. Those are page-specific displayed figures and conflict with the $149.99 starting price on Google’s separate product lineup page; do not treat them as a reconciled, universal current price list. Check the local store for current pricing. See Google’s comparison page and the product lineup.

Should you buy one now or wait?
A TechRadar report published October 11, 2026, describes a possible next-generation device as a rumor attributed to an unnamed source familiar with the matter. It is not an official Google announcement and does not show that the current Streamer has been discontinued. A rumored successor is therefore not a reliable reason by itself to assume a replacement is imminent. Read the report on the possible successor.
If the current model meets your needs and you find it available at an acceptable local price, the official listing supports treating it as a current product rather than a confirmed-discontinued one. If you are willing to wait for a potential successor, recognize that its launch, timing, and features have not been confirmed by Google in the cited information.

- The Streamer requires a TV or display with an HDMI connection. Google recommends a 4K display for the best experience.
- Google recommends an “Ultra High Speed” HDMI 2.1 certified cable for optimal performance; the cable is sold separately.
- The device can output only up to the resolution supported by both the display and the Streamer. Available resolution also depends on the content.
