WARDOGS progression is split across six role tracks, so the quickest route to a tank is to stay on Driver and repeat useful logistics rather than relying on kills or another role’s XP. In the current three-faction Control Zone match, move supplies and players, keep the spawn APC useful, and use the roaming Hot Zone to finance more vehicle runs. Tank placement has changed during Season 2, so verify every unlock on the in-game role screen.
How WARDOGS progression works
WARDOGS has six independent role tracks: Assault, Medic, Support, Recon, Driver and Pilot. It also has an overall WARDOG/Career level. XP earned on one role does not transfer to another. Driver XP cannot advance Medic, Assault or any other role, so changing roles mid-session changes which progression bar receives your actions.

The game’s progression is action-based rather than a single universal combat level. Each role is built around a different contribution to the team, and the equipment associated with that role appears as you reach its levels. The exact XP value for an individual action is not published in the current authoritative material, so claims such as “one delivery equals X XP” or a definitive kill-versus-supply ranking should be treated as unverified.

Season 2 XP milestones
Bulkhead’s Season 2 progression table gives cumulative XP totals for selected role levels. These are totals required to reach the level, not XP awarded by a match, kill, delivery or other single action.
| Role level | Total XP required | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| 10 | 25,000 XP | Season 2 cumulative total |
| 15 | 54,750 XP | Season 2 cumulative total |
| 20 | 111,500 XP | Season 2 cumulative total |
| 25 | 206,600 XP | Season 2 cumulative total |
| 30 | 318,200 XP | Season 2 cumulative total |
| 35 | 525,000 XP | Season 2 cumulative total |
Season 2 specifically targeted the mid-level grind. Bulkhead said that levels 10 to 20 had been a slow wall and that reaching level 20 now takes less than half the playtime it required in Season 1. That is a relative statement about Season 1 playtime, not a promise of a fixed number of matches, because match length, role activity and successful actions vary.
Progression can still feel volatile. A quiet round in which you spend time travelling or waiting may produce little role activity, while a coordinated round with constant deliveries, construction or rescues can move the bar much faster. Use the milestone table to plan a long-term target, not to estimate the payout from one run.
Tank unlocks: what is confirmed and what may be stale
The current evidence does not support one permanent tank-unlock chart. Season 2’s table places the SPH-2 at Driver level 31, while a September Driver guide lists the L2A6 at level 35. Those references conflict because the progression and unlock data changed during the season.
A dated Driver guide lists the URAL as available at Driver level 3. The XP total needed for level 3 is not stated in the published Season 2 figures, so there is no defensible number for “the first tank’s XP cost.” Check the role’s unlock screen in your current build instead of converting a level from an old guide into an assumed XP total.

On October 15, 2026, Bulkhead announced a Driver-progression fix and a fix for an exploit that exposed tanks too early. Older screenshots, videos and tables may therefore show equipment at the wrong level. The in-game unlock screen is the authoritative check after every progression update.
The fastest supported Driver XP loop
No current source establishes a precise XP-per-action ranking. The strongest documented approach is a logistics loop that creates useful activity repeatedly while keeping the team supplied.

- Reach Driver level 3 and use the URAL when it becomes available. The September guide identifies that level as the URAL unlock. If your current build shows a different requirement, follow the live unlock screen because the season’s tables have changed.
- Load supply pallets at headquarters. Begin the run at HQ and take a load that your team can actually use. A pallet left unused at a remote location creates travel time without the same team value as a delivery that supports an active build.
- Coordinate the destination with builders. Ask a friendly squad or FOB builders where supplies are needed before leaving. The documented Driver advice specifically recommends delivering to a friendly FOB and coordinating so the shipment is consumed.
- Transport players toward active objectives. Pick up teammates moving toward the current fight rather than making empty journeys. Passenger demand changes during a match, so announce your route and keep the vehicle available near the next objective.
- Keep the spawn APC useful and safe. A spawn APC positioned where teammates can use it, but outside an obvious kill zone, supports continued team activity. Do not park it in an exposed lane merely to remain close to the front.
- Run the route around the active Control Zone and Hot Zone. Staying near the action shortens the distance to passengers and supply needs. The Hot Zone supplies extra cash and control value, which can fund further vehicle use; it is not documented as a separate Driver-XP multiplier.
- Take combat opportunities only when they do not break the route. Vehicle kills and turret kills may award XP, but their current payouts are not authoritative. Treat them as opportunistic additions rather than abandoning a reliable supply run to chase an uncertain combat award.
This loop is efficient because it combines repeatable Driver responsibilities with team demand. Its result still depends on route safety, whether builders consume the supplies, passenger availability and how long the vehicle survives. The available guidance does not justify a universal “best map,” “best vehicle” or exact XP-per-minute claim.
What makes a logistics run repeatable
- Safe repetition: Use roads and staging areas that let you return to HQ or an FOB without crossing the most exposed part of the fight.
- Cash discipline: The exact cash cost of each vehicle attempt is not stated. Use Hot Zone cash and avoid unnecessary losses so the next run remains affordable.
- Coordination: Builders and passengers are part of the loop. A solo delivery to an unused FOB is less useful than a planned drop that immediately supports construction.
- Role consistency: Stay on Driver while performing the loop. Switching to another role may help the match but sends later XP to that other role.
How the documented game mode affects progression
Current descriptions present WARDOGS primarily as a three-faction Control Zone or King-of-the-Hill-style match, not as a verified collection of separate XP modes. The roaming Hot Zone is a sub-zone inside that match. Advice about “every game mode” should therefore be read as advice for the main Control Zone battle and its Hot Zone layer; separate mode-specific XP tables are not established.
Control Zone basics
The Field Guide describes a 100 Match Point win condition. Teams contest the active zone, and role XP comes from the actions each role performs while helping that contest. You can contribute as a fighter, healer, builder, scout, driver or pilot rather than following one mandatory path.

Why rotate through the Hot Zone
Players inside the Hot Zone count twice toward faction control and receive extra cash. That makes a Hot Zone rotation valuable for financing vehicles, ammunition and loadouts while your role actions continue elsewhere in the match. The documentation does not say that entering the Hot Zone doubles Driver XP, so do not treat its control bonus as an XP multiplier.
- Check where the active Control Zone and Hot Zone are moving.
- Move supplies, passengers or your vehicle staging point toward that area without exposing the APC or transport to unnecessary fire.
- Use the extra cash generated by Hot Zone participation to fund another useful logistics attempt.
- Leave the zone when the route becomes unsafe; surviving to complete several useful actions is preferable to one dramatic but unrecoverable run.
Role-by-role progression choices
Assault
Assault progression is tied to combat-oriented activity. Stay near an active objective, take fights that your squad can support and avoid turning every engagement into an isolated push. Because no authoritative per-action values are published, choose positions that produce repeatable combat opportunities rather than gambling on a particular weapon or kill type.
Medic
Medic work is healing and reviving. Follow the squad into contested areas, but do not enter a hopeless position solely to reach one downed player. A medic who survives to heal several teammates can maintain useful activity over a longer portion of the match. The current material does not state a separate XP value for a heal versus a revive.
Support
Support combines building, supplying and anti-vehicle work. Coordinate construction with the people running Driver logistics so deliveries are used rather than abandoned. Anti-vehicle engagements are situational; take them when a target threatens your team instead of leaving a productive supply task for an uncertain payout.
Recon
Recon is oriented toward spotting and reconnaissance-supported combat. Use positions that reveal enemy movement to the faction and remain connected to the active zone. The sources do not publish a current numerical award for a spot, so a safe, sustained observation position is more reliable than repeatedly exposing yourself for a single possible action.

Driver
Driver has the clearest documented repeatable loop: supply pallets, passenger transport, spawn-APC placement and safe vehicle activity. Builders and passengers directly affect how much useful work a Driver can perform, which is why communication matters more than simply driving in circles.
Pilot
Pilot is the aviation-oriented logistics track. Treat aircraft as a team resource: coordinate destinations, select safe approaches and avoid wasting a flight on an empty route. Exact Pilot action payouts and unlock thresholds are not stated in the current figures, so use the live role screen and your match feedback rather than an old spreadsheet.

Before spawning
- Open the current Driver unlock screen and note the next vehicle level shown by your build.
- Confirm that you are actually on Driver if Driver XP is the goal.
- Identify the active Control Zone, likely supply destinations and whether builders need a pallet.
- Reserve enough cash for a replacement vehicle instead of spending the entire balance on one risky run.
Opening minutes
Use the first available transport or supply opportunity to establish a route. Carry players toward the objective, then return for a pallet or move supplies to an FOB that builders have identified. The aim is to keep the vehicle doing useful work instead of waiting at headquarters.
Mid-match rotation
Follow the moving zone and Hot Zone, but keep the APC and transport out of predictable kill lanes. Ask teammates where they are spawning and where construction is happening. If the route is temporarily quiet, reposition safely rather than forcing a turret or vehicle fight for an undocumented bonus.

End of match
Prioritize deliveries and safe passenger movement that can still affect the 100-point contest. A late risky detour may not return before the match ends, while a short completed transport can still help the faction and produce role activity.

Season 2 changes and exploit warnings
Season 2 reduced the large mid-level progression wall. Bulkhead described the change as making level 20 take less than half the playtime of Season 1, while retaining the role-based structure and its long-term milestones.
The update also removed a Blue-team XP and cash bonus. That means older advice based on deliberately joining or exploiting a Blue-team advantage no longer describes the intended balance.
On October 15, Bulkhead fixed Driver progression and an exploit that allowed players to reach tanks too early. PC Gamer reported that clear exploit abuse could result in 24-hour bans and the removal of cash and XP. Do not build a progression plan around a glitch, duplicated reward or unlock that appears before the level shown in your current menu.

“My Driver bar did not move.”
Verify that you were still assigned to Driver when the actions occurred. Role XP is separate, and a late role change can send later activity to another track. Also check whether the action was actually completed: an undelivered pallet, an abandoned passenger pickup or a destroyed vehicle may not produce the same result as a completed task. Because the exact action payouts are not published, use several completed activities before concluding that a single event failed.
“The tank is missing at the level an old guide promised.”
Open the current Driver unlock screen. The Season 2 table and the September guide disagree about later tank placement, and the October 15 fixes changed progression behavior. The live menu takes precedence over a dated video, screenshot or spreadsheet.
“I cannot afford another vehicle.”
Use the Hot Zone’s extra cash opportunity when it is safe, and avoid sacrificing a vehicle for an uncertain kill. Keep the spawn APC and supply route alive so the next attempt has a purpose. The published material does not give a universal vehicle price or reimbursement schedule, so plan around the balance visible in your build.
“The route is too dangerous.”
Move the staging point back from the front, wait for a safer opening and coordinate a different destination with builders. Driver progression is not documented as requiring constant combat. A completed, repeatable logistics run is a better-supported plan than repeatedly losing a vehicle at the same choke point.
