That makes it a noteworthy sub-$1,000 prebuilt listing, but the price and stock may change; check the Walmart listing before buying. The claim that it is the first such PC “in months” reflects one writer’s observation, not a verified market-wide price history.
What the reported $999 MSI desktop includes
Slickdeals and Tom’s Hardware reported the Walmart offer on October 6, 2026. The listed configuration is a Ryzen 7 8700F processor, GeForce RTX 5060 Ti with 8GB of graphics memory, 16GB of DDR5 RAM, and a 1TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD. Slickdeals also lists a 650W 80+ Gold power supply, MSI Pro B840-VC WiFi motherboard, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, Windows 11, and an MSI keyboard and mouse. These are deal-page specifications, not details confirmed by an independent teardown.

The reported price is a promotional deal figure, not a guaranteed current price. Confirm that the Walmart listing still shows the price, has stock, and identifies Walmart as seller and shipper before placing an order. The reporting described the offer as limited by price and supply. Tom’s Hardware’s October 6 deal report and the Slickdeals deal page cover the offer.
Is $999 a good deal?
It is a potentially appealing price for a complete desktop with this listed CPU, GPU, memory, and storage combination, especially if you want a ready-to-use system rather than a parts build. But the price alone cannot establish value: compare current whole-PC prices and availability, not just the graphics card’s launch price, and weigh the other components and your intended games.
#1 Best Overall
- Powered by the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture and DLSS 4
- SFF-Ready Enthusiast GeForce Card
- TORX Fan 5.0: Fan blades linked by ring arcs work to stabilize and maintain high-pressure airflow
- Nickel-plated Copper Baseplate: Heat from the GPU and memory is swiftly captured by a nickel-plated copper baseplate and transferred
- Core Pipes feature a square design to maximize contact with the GPU baseplate for optimal thermal management
NVIDIA announced historical launch prices of $379 for the RTX 5060 Ti 8GB and $429 for the 16GB model in 2025. Those figures are GPU launch prices, not current street prices or a valuation of this complete PC. NVIDIA’s announcement describes RTX 5060-family support for DLSS 4, ray tracing, neural rendering, and Reflex; feature support does not guarantee a particular frame rate or image-quality setting in every game. NVIDIA’s 2025 announcement has the launch details.
What to expect from the RTX 5060 Ti’s 8GB memory
The specific card in this reported configuration has 8GB of graphics memory, so do not confuse it with the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB variant. The extra capacity on the 16GB model may matter to buyers who prioritize memory-heavy workloads or higher-resolution textures, but the available deal coverage does not establish a universal performance difference for this desktop. Decide based on the games and settings you use, and compare the full-system price against other configurations.

Resolution and performance expectations
Tom’s Hardware characterizes the system as primarily suited to 1080p gaming, with 1440p play possible if you keep reasonable expectations for image quality. The coverage provides no controlled benchmark results or specific frame rates for this exact configuration, so treat that as a use-case assessment rather than a measured performance promise.
Check the rest of the configuration before buying
- Processor and upgrade path: The listing names a Ryzen 7 8700F and an MSI Pro B840-VC WiFi motherboard. Deal coverage identifies the board as AM5 and describes standard components as supporting future upgrades; it does not establish compatibility or performance for every prospective upgrade.
- Memory and storage: The listed 16GB DDR5 and 1TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD are the supplied configuration. Consider whether you expect to add memory or storage for your own workload.
- Power supply and connectivity: The deal page lists a 650W 80+ Gold supply, Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.2. These are reported specifications, not independently verified component testing.
- Included peripherals: An MSI keyboard and mouse are listed as included. A monitor is not listed as part of the bundle, so account for one only if you do not already have a display.
Does “the first under $1,000 in months” hold up?
It should be read as the deal writer’s observation, not as a proven market-wide milestone. The available Walmart category results include other RTX 5060 Ti desktops, but do not provide a historical price series that can show whether this was objectively the first sub-$1,000 prebuilt in months. The offer itself was reported at $999 on October 6, 2026; whether it remains available at that price is a separate, time-sensitive question. Walmart’s gaming-desktops category is a place to compare current listings, not historical pricing.
