There is no universal winner. Choose Vue if its incrementally adoptable, more explicitly guided path fits your team and application. Choose React if your team already knows it or a React framework such as Next.js or React Router better fits your requirements. For a new React app, React’s own documentation recommends starting with a framework, so compare complete application setups—not just Vue and React’s core packages.
Start with the application you need to build
Vue and React can both be introduced gradually into an existing site, and both can support substantial applications. The practical differences are in how you prefer to build, which surrounding tools you need, and how your team will maintain the result.
- Choose Vue when you want its documented path from enhancing static HTML to building a single-page application, server-rendered application, or statically generated site—and its conventions suit your team.
- Choose React when your team’s React experience, required libraries, or wider ecosystem are a strong fit. For a new app, also choose the framework and its routing, data-fetching, and rendering approach.
- If neither is an incumbent choice, prototype the risky part. Try the required rendering strategy, a specialized component, or the most demanding interaction before committing. Compare implementation effort and real-browser measurements for your own requirements.
These are project-selection criteria, not claims that one framework is faster or universally easier. The best choice is the one your team can deliver and support against the site’s actual needs.
How Vue and React differ in setup
Vue: a documented path from enhancement to full application
Vue describes itself as incrementally adoptable: it can enhance existing static HTML or serve as the foundation for a full application. Its guide covers single-page applications, server-side rendering, and static generation. For full applications, Vue recommends Composition API with Single-File Components; for simpler use or projects without build tools, it points to Options API. See the Vue introduction.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
This makes Vue a natural candidate when you want a clear official route from a small interactive feature to a larger web app. You still need to select and configure the tools appropriate to your application; “incrementally adoptable” does not mean every production concern disappears.
React: choose the framework as part of starting a new app
React can also be added to an existing website or used gradually. For a new app, however, its documentation says, “If you want to build a new app or website with React, we recommend starting with a framework.” The React app-creation guide names React Router and Next.js among the options. Starting from scratch instead means choosing tools for routing, data fetching, and other common patterns yourself.

So “React” is not a complete new-site architecture decision on its own. Compare the framework you would actually deploy with the Vue setup you would actually deploy, including rendering, routing, data needs, build and deployment workflows, and team familiarity. React’s installation guide also explains gradual adoption.
Choose by project constraints
| Project factor | Lean Vue when… | Lean React when… |
|---|---|---|
| Existing website | You want to progressively enhance static HTML and value Vue’s documented range of application modes. | You want to introduce React into an existing page or application in stages. |
| New application | Your team prefers Vue’s Composition API and Single-File Component path for full applications. | A React framework such as Next.js or React Router fits the app and operating model you need. |
| Team and libraries | Your team already knows Vue, or the Vue conventions suit how it works. | Your team already knows React, or the React ecosystem and required integrations are a better fit. |
| Hiring and organizational adoption | Your existing codebase, local candidates, or partners favor Vue. | Your organization or hiring market favors React. |
| Rendering or performance requirements | A Vue implementation meets your measured page-load, interaction, and size targets. | A React framework and rendering model meet those targets more effectively for your workload. |
| Broader platform roadmap | The project is centered on Vue’s web ecosystem. | React Native may be relevant if your organization also plans native apps; that is not, by itself, a reason to choose React for a website. |
Vercel’s vendor-authored 2026 comparison characterizes Vue as a more curated path and React as having a wider third-party catalog. Treat that as one vendor’s comparison, not a neutral census of every library or integration.

Performance: measure the site, not the framework label
Neither “Vue is faster” nor “React is faster” is a reliable blanket conclusion. Results depend on the workload, implementation, rendering strategy, build configuration, and network costs. Vue’s FAQ cautions that synthetic benchmarks emphasize raw rendering performance and may not represent real-world outcomes; it recommends auditing the actual website’s page-load performance. Vercel’s comparison likewise discusses architecture and rendering strategy as important influences. No workload-specific, independent head-to-head result establishes a winner for your site.
For a useful comparison, implement the same representative page or interaction in each candidate stack. Use comparable content, production builds, and equivalent deployment conditions. Measure the outcomes that matter to your users—such as load and interaction behavior—and inspect real browser performance rather than extrapolating from a framework benchmark. Keep the tested versions, configuration, and conditions with the result so the comparison remains meaningful.

What usage figures can—and cannot—tell you
Vercel’s 2026 article reports that the JetBrains Developer Ecosystem Survey 2024 found React usage of 57% and Vue usage of 32% among 23,262 respondents. These are survey usage figures reported secondarily by a vendor; they are not a measure of current 2026 market share, your local hiring supply, or suitability for a particular website. Use local hiring evidence and your own team’s skills to make staffing decisions.
Check version and browser requirements
As of October 3, 2026, Vue’s FAQ identifies Vue 3 as its current major version, says Vue 2 reached end of life on December 31, 2023, and notes Vue 3 does not support IE11. React’s official versions page lists React 19.3 as the latest version, released September 9, 2026. Framework versions and guidance change; check those official pages when starting a project and account for the browsers your users need.

Use screenshots to review the website you build
Visual review can complement browser performance checks when comparing representative pages or checking changes across viewports. ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server; it can capture a URL as an image or PDF. Its cookie-banner, popup, and chat-widget removal options can help produce cleaner captures, while its response headers indicate page verdict and billing status. For this framework decision, screenshots are a review aid—not a substitute for measuring performance or validating behavior.
A minimal request is:
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://example.com -o shot.webp
See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request options. Other available request examples:
import requests
r = requests.get("https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot", params={"access_key": "YOUR_API_KEY", "url": "https://example.com"}, timeout=90)
open("shot.webp", "wb").write(r.content)
const q = new URLSearchParams({ access_key: 'YOUR_API_KEY', url: 'https://example.com' });
const res = await fetch(`https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot?${q}`);
ScreenshotNeo is an alternative to consider when you need website captures without setting up browser automation yourself. Its MCP server offers screenshot and PDF tools for AI agents, and its pricing includes 1,000 shots per month free with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 shots. Learn about ScreenshotNeo.
