The project will replace four older turbines with three new ones, increasing installed capacity from 3.6 MW to 18 MW. VSB announced the construction start on 8 October 2026.
What is changing at Liethe-Lehmden?
The project replaces four NEG Micon NM52 turbines, each rated at 0.9 MW, with three Vestas V150 turbines. VSB says the new installation will have total installed capacity of 18 MW—five times the existing farm’s 3.6 MW capacity. The figures describe installed capacity, not annual electricity production.

VSB estimates the repowered wind farm will generate enough electricity annually to match the demand of around 11,300 three-person households. It also expects annual generation to increase more than tenfold compared with the existing wind farm. These are company estimates; the announcement does not provide an independent generation forecast in GWh. The household figure is an equivalent-demand comparison, not a count of customers who will receive electricity.

What construction work is under way?
VSB says preliminary archaeological investigations are complete. Site setup, access roads and crane hardstands are under way. The developer identifies waterlogged and locally peaty soil at one turbine location as a construction challenge.

Thomas Winkler, Managing Director of VSB in Germany, said in the company’s 8 October 2026 announcement: “The start of construction brings our plans to life on site. We are upgrading a location with a long history of wind power generation and significantly increasing its output.” VSB’s regional office in Osnabrück is managing the project.
What is the announced construction schedule?
VSB has announced the following targets and plans. They are projected milestones, not confirmed completion dates.
Rank #2
- The windmill generator uses green science to harness wind power and light an LED bulb.
- This kit contains all the materials needed to build a 5-inch windmill generator with LED light. Just add a recycled soda bottle.
- An enclosed pamphlet contains fun facts about renewable energy.
- Detailed assembly instructions included.
- Recommended for ages 8 years and up.
- By the end of 2026: Foundation preparation is targeted for completion.
- From February 2027: Dismantling of the old turbines is scheduled to begin.
- From June 2027: Delivery of components for the new turbines is due to start.
- Late summer 2027: Commissioning is planned.
VSB’s earlier permit announcement in August 2025 had expected construction to start in November 2026. The company’s October 2026 announcement now reports that construction has started. Neither announcement establishes that the later schedule will be met.
How does the project compare with the existing wind farm?
| Measure | Existing installation | Planned repowered installation |
|---|---|---|
| Turbines | Four NEG Micon NM52 turbines | Three Vestas V150 turbines |
| Installed capacity | 3.6 MW total (four at 0.9 MW each) | 18 MW total |
| Annual generation comparison | Baseline for VSB’s comparison | VSB expects more than ten times the existing annual generation |
The turbine and capacity figures are from VSB’s project announcements. The generation comparison is VSB’s estimate, not an independently verified operating result.

- Build and experiment with a real, working 3-foot tall wind turbine to learn how wind is one of the most promising sources of clean, renewable energy available today.
- Single-piece blade construction for improved durability and better aerodynamics.
- Generate electricity to charge a battery and power a small model car.
- New weatherproof battery box can be left outside!
- Includes stakes to secure the turbine to the ground.
Where does Liethe-Lehmden fit into VSB’s Lower Saxony plans?
VSB describes Liethe-Lehmden as its first wind farm in Lower Saxony. The company also cited Oldenbrok Süd, a separate project around 20 kilometres away that received approval in July 2026 and is planned at 14 MW. Oldenbrok Süd is not part of the Liethe-Lehmden construction project.

Quick Recap
Best Value
- Realistic Wind Turbine Model: This wind turbine model toy mimics a real wind turbine to scale, and the most interesting thing is that its blades can also turn.
- 21.65inch Large Size Model: Compared to other ordinary wind turbine models, this wind turbine model has a large size, which can be installed up to 55cm/ 21.65inch.
- Wind-up Wind Turbine: This windmill toy adopts wind-up design that enables the blades turn automatically after it gets winded up. To wind it up, we just need to turn its blades clockwise for several rounds.
- Learn While Playing: This model of a wind turbine is not only a toy, but also a scientific and educational tool. It can guide children to understand the role of wind and inertia more intuitively, and cultivate children's interest in science.
- Suitable for Multiple Occasions: Kids can play with this windmill toy on their own or DIY transform it in the company of their parents. Teachers can also use it as an improvised teaching tool in the classroom.
