Its main trade-offs are a small 1.5L tank and a low rumble that carried through floors and walls. It can help dry lighter laundry, but heavy clothes took longer than the six-hour test.
Which VonHaus 12L model is this review about?
This is the 12L Auto Dehumidifier with Laundry Mode, SKU 2000276. It is easy to confuse with VonHaus’s separate 12L Low Energy Dehumidifier, SKU 2000273, but the specifications differ. The latter has a 2L tank and a different body size; its figures should not be used to describe the 2000276.

VonHaus lists the 2000276’s maximum extraction as 12L per day, its coverage as 15m², and its tank capacity as 1.5L. The manufacturer also specifies 240W rated power, 42dB noise, dimensions of 43.4 × 25.6 × 20.3cm and weight of 9.5kg. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent test results. How well does it reduce humidity?
In a hands-on review published on 5 October 2026, Expert Reviews tested the unit over several days in a three-bedroom home. The reviewer used a damp-prone living room and a smaller bedroom, with rooms held around 19–20°C. In the bedroom, relative humidity fell from 70% to 60% after an hour, 57% after two hours and 55% after three.

In the larger lounge, humidity dropped from 72% to 65% after one hour and 63% after two. After a third hour it reached 61%, which the reviewer described as the lowest level the unit achieved in that room during the test. Those are observations in the reviewer’s rooms, not guaranteed results for other spaces; room size, temperature, starting humidity and conditions affect performance. Can it dry clothes?
Yes, it can assist with indoor laundry drying. Expert Reviews ran it continuously for six hours with the fan on high: socks, underwear and T-shirts were dry, while jeans and heavier joggers needed longer. Treat this as a helpful boost for lighter items rather than a substitute for a tumble dryer or a promise that every load will be dry in six hours.
The control is described in the manual as Continuous Laundry Mode, rather than a separate, clearly labelled one-touch laundry button. Select the mode using the unit’s mode control. In continuous mode, the compressor and fan run regardless of the humidity reading, and fan speed is adjustable. The VonHaus manual explains the controls.

How often will you need to empty the tank?
The 1.5L tank is the clearest day-to-day drawback. Its actual fill time depends on how much moisture it collects, but during Expert Reviews’ combined dehumidifying and laundry-drying use, the tank filled before the drying cycle ended. The unit pauses and signals when the tank is full, according to the manual.
If you have a suitable drain, continuous drainage can reduce manual emptying. VonHaus says a drainage hose is included. The manual advises keeping it straight and unobstructed, connecting it securely, and routing it below the outlet. It recommends a hose length of around 1m and a downward angle greater than 20°.
How noisy is it?
VonHaus specifies noise of 42dB. Expert Reviews measured up to 44.7dBA with the compressor running and the fan on high, and 40dBA on low fan. The reviewer also noted a low-pitched rumble that carried through walls and floors, so the sound may feel more intrusive than a single decibel figure suggests. If you plan to run it beside a bed or in a room above another occupied space, that character is worth considering.

How much does it cost to run?
VonHaus lists 240W rated power. At the 26.32p/kWh Ofgem rate its product page identifies for 1 October 2026, running continuously at that full rated power works out at about 6.3p per hour (0.24kW × 26.32p). That is an arithmetic estimate, not a measured household bill; it excludes standing charges and assumes the unit draws 240W throughout.

In Expert Reviews’ test, observed use peaked at 168.5W at maximum settings and fell to about 28.5W while the compressor was off as Auto mode cruised. Real use varies as the compressor cycles and with the selected mode. VonHaus also describes the appliance as costing “just 7p per hour” based on the January 2026 price cap, but electricity tariffs change, so check the current tariff and operating draw rather than treating that line as a fixed cost.
What does it offer, and what are the compromises?
VonHaus lists Auto, Laundry and Sleep modes, an LED display, timer, wheels, child lock and drainage hose. In Auto mode, the manual says the fan and compressor activate when room humidity is more than five percentage points above the selected target; the compressor stops once humidity is five points below it. The target can be set from 30% to 80%.

For maintenance, the manual advises switching the unit off and unplugging it before cleaning the filter. Dust can be vacuumed off, or the filter washed with mild soap and water; let it dry fully before reinstalling. The manual suggests cleaning it every two weeks.
At 43.4 × 25.6 × 20.3cm and 9.5kg, the 2000276 is designed to be relatively easy to place and move, but its small tank limits how long it can run unattended when collecting a lot of moisture. The available review supports a focused view of this model, not a ranking against every dehumidifier on the market.

For occasional autumn and winter use in a small space, the 2000276 is a reasonable choice if compactness and a low purchase price matter more than long unattended runs or especially quiet operation. Expert Reviews’ Stuart Andrews concluded: “This one’s cheap to buy, easy to stow away and effective in small spaces.” That is the reviewer’s verdict, supported by the small-bedroom test; performance was more limited in the larger lounge.

Consider another size or design if you need a larger tank, quieter operation or longer laundry-drying sessions without interruption. Expert Reviews names the Devola DVH12L as a comparable 12L model with a 2.7L tank, and the Meaco Arete One 6L as a lower-capacity alternative; the evidence here does not establish a broader market winner.
Price snapshots vary: VonHaus’s page showed £94.99 against a regular £119.99 when accessed on 7 October 2026. Expert Reviews displayed a reviewed price of £120 and a linked Amazon price of £94.99. Check the current price and confirm the listing is for SKU 2000276 before buying.
