Its core service estimates employees’ home EV-charging sessions from vehicle and electricity data, then prepares reimbursement receipts—without requiring a dedicated home charger, the company says.
What Voltaback’s €2.8 million round will fund
Tech.eu reports that the round was led by European investment fund Serena, with business angels including Aurélien de Meaux, Electra’s co-founder, and Maxime Brousse, a Sequoia Scout. Voltaback plans to use the funding to expand its team and support a rollout of its platform in six European countries. The countries, the round’s investment instrument and the company’s valuation were not disclosed in the report.
The expansion comes as electric vehicles make reimbursement for home charging a practical fleet-management issue: employees may charge company vehicles using household electricity, while employers need a defensible way to calculate and document what they owe. Voltaback is pitching software that handles that workflow without requiring hardware at every employee’s home.
How Voltaback calculates home-charging reimbursement
Employee setup and session estimates
Voltaback’s product page describes a setup in which an employee connects a vehicle through the app and provides an electricity bill to configure the home’s tariff and consumption information. Tech.eu says the platform combines electricity-bill, meter and connected-vehicle data to reconstruct charging sessions and calculate their costs using the employee’s electricity contract.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
The company says it can produce monthly receipts listing the date, duration, energy and cost of each home-charging session. It also says the service supports all vehicle makes and models and works without a dedicated chargepoint or smart cable. Those are product claims; the available reporting does not include an independent audit of the calculation accuracy or coverage across vehicles and electricity tariffs.
What is reported about compliance
Tech.eu reports that the calculation method has been validated by Bureau Veritas, patented and covered by an advance ruling from France’s URSSAF, the agency responsible for collecting social-security contributions. The report does not provide the validation’s scope, patent number or text of the ruling, so these points do not establish how the method applies to every employer, employee arrangement or country in Voltaback’s planned expansion.

Voltaback is broadening beyond electric vehicles
The platform’s remit has expanded from EV charging reimbursements to wider fleet tasks, according to Tech.eu. These include mileage tracking, benefits-in-kind calculations and CSR reporting, as well as support for combustion-engine vehicles. The company says it uses vehicle-generated data without requiring telematics devices.
Tech.eu reports that Voltaback says 20% of CAC 40 companies adopted its platform during the preceding twelve months. The article does not define whether “adopted” means a pilot, signed contract or operational deployment; the figure should be read as the company’s reported claim, not as audited market penetration. The article names Veolia, Equans, BNP Paribas, Sanef, Lyreco, Loxam, Fayat, Fives and Sodexo.

Dealroom gives some scale context for two named customers: Veolia operates more than 20,000 vehicles in France and is rolling out Voltaback over three years to cover at least 6,000 electric vehicles; Equans operates a fleet of 25,000 vehicles. Those fleet figures describe customer scale, not independently measured Voltaback performance.
Why home charging matters to fleet costs
Voltaback co-founder Arnaud Tran told Tech.eu that an employee who is not reimbursed for home charging loses €600 a year, while the corresponding company cost can reach €2,000 a year. These are Tran’s estimates, not independently established averages, and the report does not specify the assumptions behind them.

A Veolia press release gives a separate illustration: it says a 50 kWh charge costs an average of €30 while roaming, compared with €8 at an employee’s home. The release does not describe the comparison’s methodology or establish that those prices apply broadly across locations or charging situations.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What remains unclear about the European rollout
The funding announcement establishes the intended scope—six European countries—but does not identify the markets or provide a launch timetable. Nor does the available reporting state Voltaback’s pricing, detail its session-reconstruction method, or independently verify the accuracy of reimbursements. For employers considering the platform, those details matter alongside country-specific payroll and tax rules: a calculation accepted in one jurisdiction should not be assumed to satisfy requirements elsewhere.

For now, the news is a funding and expansion announcement rather than evidence of a Europe-wide deployment. The investment gives Voltaback resources to grow its team and pursue the rollout; whether it can translate its French fleet-software proposition into compliant, reliable operations across six markets will depend on details not yet reported.
