Where can you get a VMware quote?
For VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), Broadcom’s FAQ directs buyers to a Broadcom sales representative, a channel partner, or a qualified OEM partner for pricing. Those are quote channels, not a promise that every channel or offer is available in every location. The VCF FAQ does not publish buyer-specific prices, so the route alone cannot establish which option will cost less.

Broadcom’s Partner and Distributor Locator can help identify local resellers and global distributors for Broadcom software solutions. Treat a listing as a place to start, not proof that a particular firm is authorized to sell your specific VMware product in your geography. Confirm that status directly before requesting or accepting a quote.
VMware’s buying page presents online purchasing as well as reseller and VMware sales routes. Which options are available depends on the product and location.

Compare equivalent quotes, not just the seller
Ask both routes to quote the same configuration and state what is included. Otherwise, apparent price differences may reflect different entitlements, terms, support, or services rather than a better buying channel.

Public information does not establish comparable buyer-specific pricing, payment terms, renewal flexibility, or procurement procedures across the two routes. Request itemized, written quotes and compare contract terms rather than relying on a general claim about discounts or channel advantages.

What does buying direct or through a reseller change?
Buying directly from Broadcom
Direct purchase may be a simpler path for a team that already knows its required configuration and handles vendor procurement itself. Buying direct does not mean deployment must also be handled by the customer: Broadcom says VCF can be self-installed, while recommending VMware Professional Services or a solution provider for deployment.
Broadcom lists Software Maintenance Essential Support as included with VCF, alongside options such as professional services, expert services, a Technical Adoption Manager, workshops, and training. Confirm which entitlements and services apply to the exact offer in your quote and contract.

Buying through an authorized reseller
A reseller may add local expertise or provide architecture, implementation, migration, and adoption help. That value depends on the specific provider and the written scope of work; the label “authorized reseller” does not by itself tell you what services, staffing, or support are included.
Ask the reseller to identify its authorization for your product and region, spell out any services and fees, and explain how support requests are handled. Broadcom’s locator helps find candidates, but it does not replace product-specific verification.

Does the buying route affect support?
Not necessarily in the simple way “direct means Broadcom, reseller means reseller.” VMware says support requests for certain solutions and situations may be automatically routed to authorized partners. Its support clarification quotes the Broadcom Software Maintenance Policy Handbook, Section 2.1.2: “The Broadcom partner programs allows [sic] some partners with an existing technical support infrastructure and service business model to team up with Broadcom’s Global Support Centers (GSCs) to offer technical support to end user Customers (End Users).”

Could the transaction type affect license portability?
Yes. Under Broadcom’s stated portability policy, eligible new end-user VCF subscriptions purchased directly from Broadcom or an authorized reseller qualify under the described rules. The policy excludes licenses obtained through a cloud service provider, value-added OEM, or embedded software partner. Those are distinct transaction routes, so do not assume that every offer involving a reseller, OEM, or service provider is treated alike.
Before relying on portability, check the current Broadcom license portability policy, the applicable Specific Product Documentation, the subscription date and version, and the destination service. The policy’s eligibility is tied to its stated conditions; verify that your particular subscription and intended use qualify.
