On their official specifications, the realme 16T 5G has the larger rated battery, the higher listed maximum refresh rate and the higher-resolution front camera. The vivo Y31 5G lists a Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset and an India list price of ₹27,999 MRP for its 6GB+128GB version. Neither set of specifications shows which phone performs better in daily use. A price difference cannot be stated yet, because the realme 16T 5G’s current India price was not verifiable when checked, and the vivo variant showed as unavailable.
What the specifications show and what they do not
Both phones sit in the entry-to-mid budget segment with an HD+ LCD panel, a 50MP main rear camera and a 5G modem. The differences are real but modest, and most of them come from manufacturer-published figures. Treat the table below as a list of claims to verify, not a ranking of performance.

Specification comparison
| Attribute | vivo Y31 5G | realme 16T 5G | What the figure means |
|---|---|---|---|

| Display | 6.68-inch LCD, 1608 × 720 | 6.8-inch LCD, 1570 × 720, maximum 144Hz listed | Both are HD+ LCD panels. vivo’s store page did not state a refresh rate. |
| Rear cameras | 50MP main + 0.08MP | 50MP wide + 2MP monochrome | A megapixel count does not establish photo quality. |
| Front camera | 8MP | 16MP | A listed resolution, not a selfie-quality measure. |
| Battery | 6,500mAh typical | 8,000mAh typical; 7,780mAh rated | realme gives both a typical and a rated figure. vivo gives only typical. The two are not directly comparable. |
| Fast charging | 44W FlashCharge (vivo marketing term) | 45W SUPERVOOC (realme listing) | Charging brands are not test results. Actual charge times were not stated by either maker. |

Battery and charging
The realme 16T 5G carries the larger battery figure: 8,000mAh typical on realme’s Philippines specification page, with 7,780mAh given as the rated capacity. vivo’s India store lists 6,500mAh typical for the Y31 5G. Typical capacity is generally the higher, optimistic figure, so the rated number is the more conservative one. A fair comparison uses the typical number for vivo and both numbers for realme.

Battery life is a different question from capacity. Neither maker published endurance test results in the material reviewed. realme India says its battery-health and endurance statements rest on realme Lab data and that some are theoretical calculations, with actual results varying. Those are realme’s own claims and should be presented that way.
Display
Both displays are LCD panels at 720-pixel height, so neither is a Full HD+ screen. The realme 16T 5G is slightly larger at 6.8 inches and lists a maximum 144Hz refresh rate. vivo’s store page does not state a refresh rate for the Y31 5G, so no comparison on that point is possible. A higher listed refresh rate affects scrolling smoothness only when the software and content use it, and it does not indicate brightness or colour accuracy, which were not stated for either phone.

Cameras
Both phones list a 50MP main sensor, but the realme adds a 2MP monochrome unit, while the vivo adds a 0.08MP unit. Neither addition is a meaningful imaging feature on its own. The more useful difference is the front camera: 16MP on the realme 16T 5G against 8MP on the vivo Y31 5G. That gap is a resolution figure only. Image quality, low-light performance and video stabilisation require sample photos or lab tests, and none were available for either phone.
Processor and software
The vivo uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2, and the realme uses a MediaTek Dimensity 6300. Both are entry-level chips for this price band. Spec sheets do not reveal sustained performance, thermal behaviour or gaming frame rates, so a performance claim in either direction would go beyond the evidence.

Durability claims
vivo’s India page promotes an IP68/69 rating. realme’s India page promotes IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings along with military-grade shock resistance. Ingress ratings describe tested conditions for dust and water, and “military-grade” refers to a standard the maker chose to meet, not an independent certification of the device. Neither claim implies accidental-damage cover or warranty terms.

Why the Philippines specifications differ
The detailed realme specifications used in this comparison come from its Philippines page, which itself warns that specifications and box contents may vary by market. The battery, memory and accessory figures may not match the India model. Do not assume the Philippine variant’s radio bands or configurations are identical to India’s.
Which phone fits which buyer
- Choose the realme 16T 5G if a larger rated battery, a higher listed refresh rate and a 16MP front camera matter most, and you can confirm an India price and a 6GB or 8GB variant at a figure you accept.
- Choose the vivo Y31 5G if you want the India price the brand has published and its own software, and the 6GB+128GB configuration is in stock where you buy.
- Neither choice should rest on the processor or camera spec sheets alone. Read reviews that test those areas before deciding.
Before you buy
- Open the vivo India e-store and the realme India product page on the day you buy, and note the price and stock status of the same RAM and storage combination.
- Confirm the variant on the retailer’s listing matches the model name exactly, including the “5G” suffix and any “t” or other suffix.
- Check the box contents and warranty terms for your market, since the realme accessory list was taken from the Philippines page.
- Compare the typical battery figure for vivo with both the typical and rated figures for realme, and do not treat them as equal.
- Look up each brand’s current software update commitment for the specific model.
