What actually changes between the phones?
The Fold 5 is thinner and lighter on paper
vivo lists the Fold 5 at 217g in Gray or 226g in White, compared with 236g for the Fold 3 Pro. Folded thickness is listed as 9.20mm or 9.70mm for the Fold 5 depending on color, versus 11.20mm for the Fold 3 Pro. That makes portability the clearest hardware case for choosing the newer model, although these are specifications rather than hands-on measurements.

Battery capacity rises, but charging ratings fall
The Fold 5 lists a 6000mAh typical battery, 300mAh more than the Fold 3 Pro’s listed 5700mAh. The Fold 3 Pro, however, has the higher rated charging speeds: 100W wired and 50W wireless, against 80W and 40W for the Fold 5. Capacity and charging ratings do not establish real-world endurance or charging time; those depend on use and conditions, and the figures here are not independent test results.
Camera resolution is a trade-off, not a quality verdict
The Fold 3 Pro lists a 64MP telephoto camera and 32MP inner and cover front cameras. The Fold 5 lists a 50MP telephoto and 20MP front cameras on both displays. The rear-camera totals otherwise include two 50MP cameras on each phone. Megapixel counts alone cannot establish image quality, so compare sample photos and independent reviews if camera performance is decisive.

Displays stay the same size; the Fold 5 lists adaptive refresh
Both phones list an 8.03-inch inner display and a 6.53-inch cover display at the same stated resolutions. The Fold 3 Pro lists 120Hz refresh, while the Fold 5 specifies adaptive 1–120Hz LTPO. The Fold 5’s listed chipset also remains Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, the same generation as the Fold 3 Pro; its listed memory/storage changes to LPDDR5X Ultra and UFS 4.1 from LPDDR5X and UFS 4.0.

vivo India announced the X Fold 5 at ₹149,999 on July 14, 2025. A vivo Community forum result reports a ₹159,999 pre-order price for the X Fold 3 Pro 16GB/512GB, but the date is not established in that result and it is a lower-confidence source than the official announcement. The arithmetic difference is ₹10,000, with the Fold 5 figure lower. It is only an indicative comparison of historical launch/pre-order figures, not evidence of the current retail price difference. vivo announced the X Fold 3 Pro’s India launch on June 6, 2024 (vivo India Newsroom).

Which phone makes more sense for you?
Choose the X Fold 5 if portability and battery capacity lead
- You want the lighter, thinner device according to vivo’s listed figures.
- You prefer the larger stated typical battery capacity.
- You value adaptive 1–120Hz LTPO refresh and the newer listed storage specification.
Choose the X Fold 3 Pro if rated charging speed or resolution matters more
- You prioritize its higher manufacturer-rated wired and wireless charging speeds.
- You prefer the higher listed telephoto and front-camera resolutions, while recognizing that megapixels do not predict photo quality by themselves.
Before buying either model
