The vivo V80 is scheduled to launch in India on October 6, 2026, and its price had not been announced as of September 22. Its headline changes over the V70 are a larger battery, a higher advertised refresh rate and a newer software generation. The V70, meanwhile, has a known specification baseline and some hands-on review coverage. If you are deciding today, wait for the V80’s price and independent testing if those changes matter; consider the V70 only if its actual selling price makes sense for you.

Availability and price: the V80 is still pre-launch
India Today reported on September 22, 2026, that the V80 was scheduled to launch in India on October 6 at noon, with its price still undisclosed at the time. The V70 has an official India product page, but a current transaction price is not established here. That means there is not yet enough information for a defensible value-for-money verdict.
Check the launch report for the pre-launch timing and price status, and the official V80 overview for manufacturer-advertised features. Both can change or be clarified at launch.

The V70 chipset and review-specific support observations come from Digital Camera World’s V70 review. vivo’s V80 page is an official specification listing; the pre-launch reporting conflict about whether the chipset had been officially announced makes launch-day confirmation prudent.
What changes most on the V80?
A larger stated battery, with no endurance test yet
The V80’s listed 7,200mAh capacity is 700mAh more than the V70’s 6,500mAh. Both are listed for 90W charging. Those figures establish a capacity and rated-charging comparison, not how many hours either phone lasts or how long a full charge takes. No independent V80 battery test or direct comparison was established.

A 144Hz display claim with an app limitation
The V80 is advertised with a 144Hz maximum refresh rate, compared with up to 120Hz on the V70. India Today says the V80 reaches its full refresh rate only in selected applications and that real performance can vary. A higher maximum is therefore not a promise that every app or screen will run at 144Hz. The two phones are both listed with 6.59-inch displays; the V70’s listed resolution is 2750 × 1260.

Newer software generation
The announced software moves from Android 16 with OriginOS 6 on the V70 to Android 17 with OriginOS 7 on the V80. vivo’s V80 materials state up to six years of security updates. The V70 review reports four OS upgrades and six years of security updates for that phone, but the exact applicability of those terms to the India configuration should be checked against vivo’s local terms. Confirm the V80’s final software and update commitment at launch.

Camera labels change, but megapixel counts do not settle quality
Both phones list 50MP main, 50MP telephoto and 8MP ultra-wide rear cameras. The V80’s telephoto is described as a ZEISS night telephoto; the V70’s as a ZEISS super telephoto. Both list OIS on the main camera and AF/OIS on the telephoto. The V80 overview advertises 4K/60fps video, while V70 materials list 4K recording. Similar resolutions do not establish identical sensors, optics, processing or image quality, and no direct V80-versus-V70 camera test is available here.
What can the V70’s review tell you?
Digital Camera World’s hands-on review of the V70 praised its main and telephoto cameras and described battery life as very good. It found the ultra-wide weaker and said performance improvement over the V60 was modest, with heavy video-editing performance limited. Those are the reviewer’s observations about the V70 unit, not comparative test results against the V80. There is no hands-on V80 review established here.

Durability and what is in the box
Both models are listed with IP68 and IP69 ratings, but vivo cautions that water and dust resistance can diminish with daily wear. For the V70, vivo describes IP68 testing in static fresh water up to 1.5m for up to 30 minutes under stated conditions, and IP69 testing with specified hot-water jets. It advises against immersion in daily use and exposure to seawater, beverages or other liquids. These ratings should not be read as a guarantee that either phone is waterproof.

Which phone should you choose?
Wait for the V80 if its announced changes are priorities
Wait for the launch price and independent testing if you specifically want the larger stated battery, the higher advertised refresh rate, or the newer software generation. After launch, check the final India specifications and update terms as well as real battery and camera tests; the announced figures alone cannot show that the V80 lasts longer or takes better photos.
Consider the V70 if its actual price is compelling
The V70 has documented India specifications and at least one hands-on review, so it is the more evidence-backed option today. It may make sense if its live selling price is attractive and you do not need the V80’s announced changes. No current price comparison is established here, so the decision depends on the price you can actually buy it for.
