Performance: different chip tiers, unmeasured gap
The Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 sits in a higher tier than the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 on paper. That suggests vivo should have more headroom for demanding games and heavy multitasking. But neither company publishes a sustained-performance comparison, and thermals, software tuning and RAM configuration all affect real results. For everyday use such as social apps, video, navigation and payments, both chips are in a range where the difference is unlikely to be the deciding factor; treat any claim of a precise margin with caution until independent benchmarks exist.

vivo lists a 6,500 mAh typical battery with 90 W charging. Nothing’s India page footnotes a 5,400 mAh battery for India and 50 W charging. Be careful with Nothing’s headline copy: the page says “Charge in minutes, last for days with a 5,080* mAh battery”, but the footnote gives the India figure as 5,400 mAh, so use that number for the Indian model.

The capacity and wattage gap clearly favours vivo on paper. Actual endurance depends on display refresh rate, chip efficiency and software, and none of that is captured by a capacity figure. Charging speed is likewise a rating, not a measured 0–100% time.
Display
Nothing specifies a 144 Hz, 1.5K display, which is a high refresh rate paired with a resolution above standard full HD. The vivo specification listing we reviewed did not expose the panel size, resolution, refresh rate or peak brightness, so a fair display comparison needs those figures from vivo’s live product page. Until then, Nothing is the only one with a documented high-refresh, higher-resolution claim.

Cameras
Nothing lists a 50 MP main camera with OIS and a 50 MP periscope camera with OIS. vivo’s store listing promotes a 50 MP ZEISS telephoto camera. Both therefore chase strong zoom, but megapixels say little about quality. Before declaring a winner, compare the telephoto focal lengths (the magnification each actually delivers), stabilisation on the zoom lens, video modes, low-light output and independent sample photos. No such side-by-side evidence is established yet.
Durability and build
vivo lists IP68 and IP69; Nothing lists IP65 and describes testing under 25 cm of water for up to 20 minutes. The difference matters: vivo’s rating implies stronger protection against submersion and high-temperature, high-pressure water jets, while Nothing’s rating is more modest on water. These are manufacturer-stated lab ratings, and water damage is generally not covered by standard warranties, so don’t treat either as licence to swim with the phone.

If one-handed comfort and pocket weight matter, vivo has the edge by 16–23 g.
Software and update support
Nothing states Android 16-based Nothing OS with 3 years of OS updates and 6 years of security updates. That is a concrete commitment you can plan a long ownership around. The vivo listing we reviewed did not state its update policy, so check vivo India’s current commitment before assuming parity. Where a company does not state a figure, don’t assume it matches a rival’s.
