Their base launch prices differed by ₹51,000, but they came out in different years and have different RAM and storage configurations—so that is historical launch-price context, not a like-for-like current deal comparison.
India launch prices: how much more did the X300 FE cost?
At launch in India, vivo priced the V40e at ₹28,999 for 8GB+128GB and ₹30,999 for 8GB+256GB in September 2024. The X300 FE launched in May 2026 at ₹79,999 for 12GB+256GB and ₹89,999 for 12GB+512GB. Comparing the base configurations gives a ₹51,000 difference, but the X300 FE base model has more RAM and storage, and the launch dates are nearly two years apart. These are announced list prices, not verified current retailer prices. vivo India’s V40e launch announcement and X300 FE launch announcement provide the dated figures.

vivo later announced an X300 FE 8GB+256GB variant at ₹84,999 on August 12, 2026. That announcement also listed the 12GB+256GB and 12GB+512GB variants at ₹89,999 and ₹99,999, respectively—a different price set from the May launch announcement. Check the live listing and the exact configuration before buying; no current street price is established here. vivo’s August 2026 variant announcement names Amazon among the sales channels, but does not establish current stock or price.

Where the main hardware differences matter
Performance and software
The X300 FE pairs a Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 with LPDDR5X Ultra memory and UFS 4.1 storage, while the V40e uses the Dimensity 7300, LPDDR4X and UFS 2.2. The X300 FE is positioned higher in the listed hardware hierarchy; the specifications alone do not establish a particular real-world speed advantage or benchmark result. They also ship with different software generations as listed by vivo: OriginOS 6 based on Android 16 for the X300 FE, and Funtouch OS 14 based on Android 14 for the V40e.
Screen size and form
The V40e has the larger display at 6.77 inches, compared with the X300 FE’s 6.31-inch flat screen. That makes the V40e the more screen-forward choice by diagonal, while the X300 FE is the more compact-screen option. The cited X300 FE launch information does not establish resolution or refresh rate, so those figures are not compared here.
Camera versatility
Both phones list a 50MP front camera, but the V40e specifically lists autofocus. On the rear, the V40e combines a 50MP OIS main camera with an 8MP ultrawide; the X300 FE adds a 50MP super-telephoto camera alongside its 50MP main and 8MP ultrawide. That extra camera gives the X300 FE a dedicated telephoto option on paper. vivo also advertises up to 100x digital zoom, which should not be confused with optical zoom.

The X300 FE supports the separately sold vivo ZEISS Telephoto Extender Gen 2, listed at ₹15,999 at launch with a 200mm-equivalent focal length. It requires the compatible accessories kit and is described by vivo as compatible only with the X300 FE. Check current availability and kit contents before purchase.
Battery and charging
vivo lists 5,500mAh typical capacity and 80W wired charging for the V40e. For the X300 FE it lists 6,500mAh typical capacity (6,350mAh rated), 90W wired charging and 40W wireless charging. These capacity and charging figures do not establish how long either phone lasts in use or how quickly it charges in every setup; vivo notes that maximum charging rates depend on the charger, cable and usage conditions.

- Consider the V40e if its lower historical launch-price band is closer to your budget, you prefer a larger screen, or you value its listed OIS main camera, autofocus selfie camera and 80W wired charging. It does not list a telephoto camera or wireless charging in the specifications compared here.
- Consider the X300 FE if you prioritize a newer flagship-positioned processor, a smaller screen, IP68/IP69 protection, wireless charging or a dedicated telephoto camera. Its optional extender adds a further photography accessory cost, and its listed prices are substantially higher.
- For a current-value decision, compare live prices for the same RAM and storage tier, then check region and warranty, included charger, and offer terms. Launch promotions attached to the May 2026 announcement were conditional or time-limited and should not be treated as current offers.
These fit judgments follow from vivo’s published feature lists; they are not based on comparative hands-on testing, battery-life measurements or independent camera benchmarks.
