The vivo S2 5G has the larger, sharper display and bigger battery; the vivo V40e offers a dedicated rear ultra-wide camera, a higher-resolution autofocus selfie camera and faster listed charging. vivo India’s store snapshots show ₹35,999 for the V40e with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage and ₹42,999 for the S2 with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. Because storage differs, that ₹7,000 gap is not a like-for-like price comparison.
How the vivo V40e and S2 5G compare
These figures come from vivo India’s product listings accessed on 7 October 2026; they are manufacturer-published specifications, not independent test results. The S2 5G label appears on 91mobiles’ comparison page, while vivo India calls its 2026 model S2. This comparison refers to that India-market S2, not an older similarly named model from another region.

What do the camera specifications mean?
Rear cameras
The V40e includes an 8MP ultra-wide rear camera, a distinct option for fitting more of a scene into a shot. The S2 lists a 2MP secondary camera alongside its 50MP main camera; it is not a listed ultra-wide. vivo identifies the S2 main sensor as Sony IMX852, while the V40e listing names Sony IMX882 and optical image stabilization (OIS). These specifications describe camera hardware and roles, not comparative photo quality.
Selfie cameras
The V40e lists a 50MP autofocus ultra-wide front camera, while the S2 lists a 32MP front camera. The V40e therefore has the higher listed selfie resolution and explicitly listed autofocus. Megapixels alone do not determine sharpness, skin tones or low-light results, and no controlled camera comparison is available here.

vivo’s S2 product page states three generations of OS updates and five years of security updates. The cited V40e listing does not state a corresponding support duration, so these sources do not establish a like-for-like support comparison.

At the time of access, vivo India displayed ₹35,999 for a selected V40e 8GB+256GB variant and ₹42,999 for a selected S2 8GB+128GB variant. - Choose the S2 if you prioritize the larger, higher-resolution listed display, greater nominal battery capacity, or vivo’s stated OS and security update terms.
- Choose the V40e if a dedicated rear ultra-wide camera, autofocus on the front camera, or higher listed charging wattage matters more to you.
- Compare current same-storage prices if cost is the deciding factor. The captured store prices refer to different storage capacities, so they do not show a fair premium for equivalent memory.
- Check carrier compatibility if you depend on 5G. The S2 listing names India bands, but compatibility depends on your carrier’s local band deployment and the exact model variant.
For durability, vivo lists IP64 for the V40e and claims IP68/IP69 for the S2; vivo cautions that water resistance is not permanent. Treat the ratings as manufacturer specifications, not a reason to expose either phone deliberately to water.
