The vivo V70 costs more than the V40 in India. On the most like-for-like configuration, 8GB+256GB, vivo’s India store listed the V40 at ₹42,999 and the V70 at ₹59,999 when prices were checked on 7 October 2026, a gap of ₹17,000. The V70 has the newer listed processor, a larger battery, faster charging and a telephoto camera. The V40 has the larger screen.
Price difference by configuration
The two phones are not sold at identical prices across every memory and storage option, so a single headline gap can mislead. The table below lists only the prices that vivo India’s official pages showed on 7 October 2026. Prices and stock can change, and they apply only to vivo’s India storefront.

The cleanest comparison is 8GB+256GB, where the V70 is ₹17,000 higher than the V40. That difference is simple arithmetic on the two listed prices, not a figure vivo published. The V70’s 12GB+256GB price comes from a different official page than its 8GB+256GB price, so do not treat the two V70 prices as one ladder without checking the current store.

What the differences mean for buyers
Screen size
The V40’s listed display is 6.78 inches, and the V70’s is 6.59 inches. A buyer who wants the bigger screen gets it with the V40, and the V70 gives up a little diagonal in exchange for its other upgrades. The resolutions are close, at 2800 × 1260 and 2750 × 1260.

Cameras
The V40 lists a main and a wide-angle rear camera. The V70 adds a dedicated telephoto lens and an 8MP ultra-wide lens. If you shoot a lot of zoomed portraits or want a dedicated telephoto option, the V70’s listing shows the more complete camera system. Megapixel counts and feature names do not establish which phone takes better photos, so this comparison makes no claim on image quality.
Battery and charging
vivo rates the V70 at 6500mAh and the V40 at 5500mAh, and lists charging at 90W for the V70 and 80W for the V40. Those are the ratings on paper. This article does not include screen-on time tests or charging-duration measurements, so it cannot say how much longer either phone will last in daily use or how fast either one charges in practice.

Which phone fits which priorities
- Choose the V40 if your budget is tight, you want the bigger 6.78-inch screen, and a main-plus-wide rear camera setup covers your needs.
- Choose the V70 if you want the larger listed battery, faster charging, a telephoto lens and the newer processor, and you can pay about ₹17,000 more for the 8GB+256GB configuration.
- Check the configuration first if you need more than 8GB of memory or 256GB of storage. The V40 is listed with 12GB+512GB, while the V70 is listed with 12GB+256GB.

Both phones are listed with a case and a protective film. The V40’s box list names a USB power adapter, and the V70’s list names a charger. Neither listing treats a case or screen protector as required, so buy one only if you want it.
