The only like-for-like pair is 8 GB + 128 GB, where the V60e is ₹5,000 lower. The V60e’s 12 GB + 256 GB price cannot be compared directly with the V40’s 8 GB + 128 GB price, because the memory and storage differ.
What the differences mean in use
A spec sheet tells you what the manufacturer built into each phone. It does not tell you how the phone performs, so read each difference as a question to test rather than a verdict.

The V60e’s listed typical capacity is 6,500 mAh against 5,500 mAh for the V40, and its charging rating is 90 W against 80 W. A larger battery usually lasts longer between charges, but battery life also depends on the processor, display settings and how you use the phone. Vivo’s ratings also do not state how long a full charge takes in practice. If you charge often, the V60e’s specifications point in its favour, but you should check independent battery tests before assuming a real-world gap.

Cameras
The two phones are built around different camera ideas. The V40 uses two 50 MP rear cameras, both listed as ZEISS-branded, with the main lens having optical image stabilisation (OIS). The V60e uses a 200 MP main camera with OIS and an 8 MP wide-angle lens, and it has no second 50 MP lens. A higher megapixel count does not guarantee sharper or better-lit photos, because sensor size, processing and lens quality matter as much. Choose the V40 if you rely on a wide-angle lens for group or landscape shots. Choose the V60e if you mainly want the main camera and do not need a wide lens of comparable quality.
Front cameras differ only in name: the V40 lists a 50 MP AF selfie camera, and the V60e lists a 50 MP Eye AF camera. The published specifications do not describe how their autofocus behaves in practice.

Vivo’s India spec page lists Android 14 with Funtouch OS 14 for the V40 and Android 15 for the V60e. The specifications do not state how many future Android or security updates either phone will receive. Check Vivo’s current update commitment for each model before you buy if long support matters to you.

Where the specifications stop
There are no independent real-world tests behind this comparison. Performance, battery endurance, camera output and update support are not established by spec sheets or store listings. For those questions, look for independent reviews that test each phone under the same conditions, and read the camera samples yourself where possible.
Vivo’s V60e specification page also says that “certain product specifications, parameters, and parts may change due to reasons like changes in processes, measurement methods, material supplies, or production batches,” and that “vivo may update the descriptions on this page accordingly without giving any prior notice.” Treat the table as the current published values, and check the page again before you rely on any single figure.
Quick Recap
Which one to choose
- Choose the V60e if you want the lower price at 8 GB + 128 GB, a larger listed battery, faster charging, and a main camera with 200 MP resolution.
- Choose the V40 if you want two 50 MP ZEISS-branded rear cameras including a wide-angle lens, or if you prioritise the higher stated display resolution.
- Choose by storage if you need 12 GB of RAM or 512 GB of storage. The V40 is the only model here listed with 512 GB, while the V60e’s 12 GB option is 256 GB.
- Do not decide on specifications alone if performance or camera quality matters most. Compare independent test results first.
How to check the price before you buy
- Open the exact configuration on Vivo India’s online store and confirm the RAM and storage match what you want.
- Check whether the model is listed as available or unavailable, since the V40 8 GB + 256 GB listing showed ₹42,999 in an unavailable state.
- Compare the same configuration across sellers, and confirm whether the price includes offers or only the base listing price.
- Check the price again on the day you buy, because the listings used here are not dated.
