The vivo T4 Ultra has the stronger listed hardware: a higher-tier processor, 90W wired charging, and a 3x periscope telephoto camera. The vivo V40 answers with a 50MP ultra-wide camera, a 50MP autofocus selfie camera, a slightly larger display, and a higher listed water-ingress rating. Neither is a universal winner, and no current price difference can be stated. The vivo India listings checked on 7 October 2026 showed the two phones in different storage configurations, and neither listing was available to buy.

Cameras: what each setup is designed to do
The two phones take different routes to versatility. The V40 spreads its emphasis across a wide main camera, a wide-angle lens with a higher stated resolution than the T4 Ultra’s, and a 50MP selfie camera. The T4 Ultra adds optical telephoto reach, which the V40 does not list at all.

Rear camera
On paper, the V40’s 50MP ultra-wide camera has more resolution than the T4 Ultra’s 8MP ultra-wide. The T4 Ultra’s 50MP 3x periscope lens is the main reason to pick it if you photograph distant subjects, since it offers a longer optical reach than either wide lens. Megapixel counts alone do not determine image quality, and no side-by-side photo test was established for this comparison.
Selfie camera
The V40’s 50MP autofocus selfie camera is higher-resolution than the T4 Ultra’s 32MP front camera. As with the rear cameras, resolution is a specification, not a verdict on how the photos look.
The “10x telephoto macro” claim
vivo markets a 10x telephoto macro capability on the T4 Ultra. According to vivo’s own footnote, the 10x figure relies on software zoom beyond the optical 3x periscope lens. Treat it as a zoom mode with digital magnification, not as a second optical telephoto lens.

Performance and software
The T4 Ultra uses MediaTek’s Dimensity 9300+, which vivo lists as the higher-tier chip of the two. The V40 uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 3. Spec sheets do not establish real-world speed, gaming frame rates, or heat behaviour for either phone, so the chip difference should be read as a listed hardware difference only.
On software, the T4 Ultra’s launch specification lists Android 15 with Funtouch OS 15, while the V40’s lists Android 14 with Funtouch OS 14. vivo’s June 2025 announcement for the T4 Ultra promises three Android OS upgrades and four years of security patches. The vivo India sources checked do not state a comparable support period for the V40, so do not assume the two phones receive identical update windows.
Battery, charging, durability and weight
Battery and charging
Both phones list a 5500mAh typical battery capacity. Capacity alone does not determine how long a phone lasts, and no independent endurance test was established for either model, so the specifications do not show which one lasts longer.

Charging is where the listed numbers differ: 80W for the V40 and 90W for the T4 Ultra. Those are rated maximums. The speed you see depends on the adapter, cable, battery temperature and charge level.
Water and dust protection
The V40’s product page advertises IP68, and the T4 Ultra’s specifications list IP64. The first digit covers dust, and both phones carry a 6 there, meaning dust-tight under the test standard. The second digit covers water: 8 indicates submersion under conditions the manufacturer specifies, while 4 indicates protection against splashing. Ratings come from laboratory testing under defined conditions. They do not mean the phone is protected against every kind of liquid exposure, and they can weaken with wear.
Weight
The V40 weighs 190g according to vivo’s specifications, and the T4 Ultra weighs 192g in Meteor Grey and 193g in Phoenix Gold. The difference is small enough that the two phones will feel similar in hand.

Display
Both phones share a 2800 × 1260 resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The V40 has the larger screen at 6.78 inches against the T4 Ultra’s 6.67 inches. Neither listing establishes brightness or colour accuracy, so do not treat the screen size as a quality difference.

There is no current, like-for-like price difference to report. The two phones were not checked in the same storage configuration, and neither listing was available to buy on the day of the check.

- vivo V40 8GB/128GB: the vivo India e-store listing displayed a ₹39,999 MRP and was marked unavailable.
Those two prices belong to different storage tiers and unavailable inventory, so subtracting one from the other gives a number that does not reflect what a buyer would pay.

Launch prices for the T4 Ultra
vivo announced the T4 Ultra in June 2025 with three configurations: ₹37,999 for 8GB/256GB, ₹39,999 for 12GB/256GB, and ₹41,999 for 12GB/512GB, with sales beginning 18 June 2025. These were launch prices, not current street prices. The sources checked did not give a V40 launch price, so a launch-to-launch comparison is not possible either.
How to compare prices fairly
- Pick one storage configuration for each phone. The vivo India listings checked were 8GB/256GB for the T4 Ultra and 8GB/128GB for the V40, so the first step is to match them or compare each phone at its own tier.
- Open the current listing for each phone on the vivo India e-store and on the retailers you plan to use, and confirm stock status on the same day.
- Record the selling price, not the MRP, and note any bank or exchange offers separately, since they change the effective price.
- Compare the matched prices only when both listings are in stock. If one is unavailable, the gap between the two is not a usable figure.
Which phone suits which buyer
- Choose the vivo T4 Ultra if you want the higher-tier listed processor, the faster 90W rated charging, newer launch software, the stated 3x optical periscope telephoto lens, or the published Android and security update promise.
- Choose the vivo V40 if you shoot a lot of wide group scenes or selfies and want the higher-resolution ultra-wide and front cameras, a slightly larger display, or the IP68 rating that vivo advertises.
- Before you buy either, confirm the storage tier you need, check that the listing is in stock, and compare the selling price on the same day. Those three checks matter more than any single spec in this table.
This is a comparison of listed hardware. It does not rank the phones on camera quality, battery life, or performance.
Official launch details for the T4 Ultra are in the vivo India newsroom announcement, and the V40’s full specifications are on the vivo India V40 specifications page.
