On the India listings captured on 7 October 2026, the vivo V40 Pro in 12GB/512GB is priced at ₹60,999, while the Motorola Edge 70 Pro Plus 5G in 12GB/256GB is displayed at ₹47,999 against an MRP of ₹84,999. The gap is ₹13,000 on paper, but the two phones are not sold with the same storage, so this is not a like-for-like price difference. The sections below separate what each manufacturer confirms from what comes only from third-party comparison pages, so you can judge the phones on the details that are actually established.
Motorola’s India product family calls this model “motorola edge 70 pro plus”. Comparison sites often write it as “Motorola Edge 70 Pro + 5G” or “Motorola Edge 70 Pro Plus 5G”. These are the same device name in different styles. Prices, offers and stock change often, so treat every figure here as a snapshot from that date.

What each price actually buys
The two manufacturer listings do not offer matching configurations, so the price comparison has to be read configuration by configuration.

The ₹13,000 gap is not a like-for-like difference
Subtracting ₹47,999 from ₹60,999 gives ₹13,000, but that compares 256GB against 512GB. A buyer who wants 512GB of storage on the Motorola would need a configuration that was not captured in the same snapshot, so no direct price for that comparison exists here. Likewise, a buyer who wants 256GB storage has no official vivo price for that tier in the captured data, so the vivo’s lowest-tier cost is not established.

Third-party prices disagree with the manufacturer pages
91mobiles shows the Motorola at ₹47,920 and the vivo at ₹54,999, and Gadgets Now shows yet other values. The vivo variant behind the ₹54,999 figure is not stated. These third-party numbers do not match the official pages captured, so they should not be combined with manufacturer prices as if they came from one synchronised price survey. Before you buy, confirm the checkout price, the exact storage variant, the seller and the date of the offer.

The Motorola support specifications page that surfaced in research belongs to the Motorola Edge 70 Pro, a differently named model. Its specifications and update claims do not transfer to the Pro Plus, and this article does not use them.

On the vivo side, the 6.78-inch 120Hz AMOLED panel at 2800 × 1260 is a manufacturer-listed specification. The Motorola’s 6.8-inch Extreme AMOLED panel appears only on comparison pages, so treat it as a secondary claim until an exact-model Motorola page confirms it.

The chip names are the bigger caution. The Dimensity 9200+ and the Dimensity 8500 Extreme are different platforms, but a chip name does not establish how a phone performs when it runs games, multitasks or stays hot for an hour. 91mobiles reports benchmark, battery-life, rating and review scores for these phones. The testing method behind those scores is not transparent in the sources reviewed, so they should be read as that outlet’s results rather than as settled proof that one phone is faster or better. No directly comparable head-to-head test was verified for this article.
Battery and charging
The vivo lists a 5,500mAh battery with 80W charging. Gadgets Now gives the Motorola 6,500mAh and 90W charging, but those figures were not confirmed by the Motorola family listing. On the basis of the captured sources, the Motorola appears to have the larger battery and faster charging, but that is a secondary claim. Check the battery capacity and charging rating on the Motorola India product page for the exact model before you rely on it, since battery life also depends on screen, chip and software, which were not tested here.

Cameras: what is verified and what is not
The vivo’s camera roles are officially listed: a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilisation, a 50MP wide-angle camera, and a 50MP telephoto portrait camera with 2× optical zoom. These are the lens roles you can count on from the vivo’s own listing.

Three 50MP sensors do not show which lens does what, and megapixel counts do not prove image quality. The sensor size, lens design, processing and low-light behaviour decide the results, and none of those were compared under controlled conditions in the sources reviewed.

Software and update support
vivo’s listed baseline is Android 14 with Funtouch OS 14. The vivo listing reviewed does not state how many future Android upgrades or security updates it will receive, so that promise cannot be assumed from the listing.
Comparison pages list the Motorola on Android 16 and give update periods, but no official Pro Plus confirmation was located. Software version and update commitments change over time, so check the Motorola India product page and the vivo India page on the day you buy.
Which phone fits which buyer
- You need 512GB of storage. The vivo 12GB/512GB is the only 512GB option among the two captured listings, and it costs ₹60,999 on that date. Choose it if the extra storage matters more than the price gap.
- You want 256GB storage and the lowest captured price. The Motorola 12GB/256GB listing at ₹47,999 is the cheaper of the two captured official prices, provided the price holds at checkout.
- Portrait and telephoto shooting matter. The vivo’s 2× optical telephoto is a verified manufacturer specification. The Motorola’s camera roles need an exact-model check before you can compare them.
- Battery endurance and charging speed matter most. The comparison pages favour the Motorola on paper, but the figures are secondary and unconfirmed. Verify them before deciding.
- Long software support is a priority. Neither phone’s update commitment is confirmed by an official page in the sources reviewed, so check both manufacturers’ current pages before you buy.
Before you buy
- Confirm the exact model name, the storage variant and the RAM variant on the seller’s page.
- Check the checkout price, not the listed or display price, and note the date and any bank or coupon conditions.
- Confirm the seller and whether it is the manufacturer or a marketplace reseller, along with the warranty terms.
- Verify that the regional model is the India variant you are buying.
vivo describes the V40 Pro as having “undergone over 70 rigorous tests to ensure reliable performance”, a statement on the vivo India product page. It is the manufacturer’s own claim and has not been independently verified as a durability result.
