Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteVisible may offer an outage credit after major service disruptions, but the amount often won’t match Verizon’s—especially if you’re comparing a prepaid-style credit to a postpaid bill credit.
If you’ve seen Visible credit you, but it wasn’t as much as Verizon’s customers received, you’re not imagining things. The two brands handle credits differently based on billing type, timing, and how much of your specific service window was affected.

Visible and Verizon are related, but they’re not the same billing product. Visible is an MVNO that sells service under its own billing rules, while Verizon’s postpaid customers are billed directly by Verizon.

That difference alone can produce different-looking credits even when the outage was the same event and the same underlying network was affected.
Credit type and billing model
In practice, you’ll usually see one of these approaches:
- Prorated credit: A credit equal to a portion of your service price for the affected days/hours.
- Account credit or refund: A flat credit applied to your account balance.
- Postpaid bill credit: A credit applied to a monthly invoice for customers billed directly by the carrier.
Even when both are “make-goods,” the calculation method can be different enough that the posted amount isn’t comparable line-by-line.
Different outage definitions
Carriers often define “affected” in a way that isn’t obvious to customers. Two people in the same city can get different service impact due to device models, tower reach, congestion, or account-level provisioning.
Visible may also consider only the portion of the cycle that overlaps the outage window for your plan, while Verizon may credit more broadly for the month.
Timing and how credits apply to your cycle
Because Visible is prepaid-style, credits often land as an adjustment to your account for an upcoming or current renewal cycle. If Verizon applied a credit against an already-issued invoice, their customer may see a larger dollar figure even if the “real” time credited is similar.
Prerequisites before you compare credits
Before you compare what Visible gave you versus Verizon’s reports, gather the items below. You’ll use them to make a clean, defensible calculation.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →- Your Visible plan price (the amount you pay per month or per renewal cycle).
- Your Visible renewal/billing dates for the cycle affected by the outage.
- The outage window you’re referencing (start time and end time, or at least the date(s) you were affected).
- Visible credit details: the exact credit amount, the date it posted, and where it appears in your account.
- Proof of impact (optional but helpful): screenshots of “SOS/No Service,” speed-test failures, or outage notices you received.
If you don’t know the outage hours precisely, use the public window you trust (carrier status page posts, major outage coverage), but note that your request will be stronger if you can narrow it.
How to verify what Visible actually credited you
Your goal is to confirm three things: the credit amount, the credit cycle it applied to, and whether it was a service credit versus a different type of adjustment.

Check in the Visible app and account
Open the Visible app, then review your account activity/plan details for recent adjustments. If you see a line item labeled like a credit, adjustment, or make-good, record:
- Credit dollar amount
- Date/time it posted
Use your payment history as a cross-check
Compare your recent renewal charges to when the credit posted. For example, if you paid for a month on the 10th and the credit applied to the next renewal, the displayed amount can look “smaller” than a Verizon bill credit that offset the current invoice.
Calculate a prorated credit (so you have a fair baseline)
Once you know your Visible plan price and the outage window, you can compute a straightforward prorated credit. Even if Visible doesn’t calculate exactly this way, it gives you a reasonable baseline for what a “more than a one-day outage” should mean in dollars.
Proration formula
Use this simple approach:
| Value | How to compute |
|---|---|
| Daily rate | Plan Price ÷ 30
(30-day month assumption)
|
| Affected days | Number of days your service was impacted within your billing cycle |
| Prorated credit | Daily rate × Affected days |
Worked example (adjust with your numbers)
Say you pay $35/month on Visible. Your daily rate is 35 ÷ 30 = $1.17/day (rounded).
If the outage window affected you for 2.5 days of your billing cycle, a prorated baseline is 1.17 × 2.5 = $2.93. If Visible credited you only $0.50–$1.00, that may be hard to reconcile unless Visible’s internal criteria judged a smaller window.
If Visible credited you for $2.93 (or close), you may be comparing it to Verizon’s postpaid credit in a way that makes amounts look different even when time credited is similar.
Compare Visible vs Verizon using the same outage window
When people say “Visible isn’t as much as Verizon,” the comparison usually fails because they aren’t using the same measurement unit (days affected, monthly invoice amount, or bill cycle overlap).
Build a like-for-like comparison table
Use this checklist. It keeps you honest and makes it easier to escalate:
| Category | Visible (what you need) | Verizon postpaid (what you need) |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly service price | Your Visible plan price | Customer’s Verizon monthly bill amount |
| Billing timing | Visible renewal dates | Verizon invoice month that got credited |
| Affected duration | Hours/days you were without service | Hours/days Verizon credited (month overlap or outage window) |
| Type of credit | Prorated credit vs flat account credit | Bill credit vs other adjustment |
Expect different dollar amounts even for similar impact
Example: if Verizon’s bill credit offsets an entire monthly invoice line item, the dollar number can be larger than a Visible prepaid proration that only covers a sliver of a cycle. That doesn’t automatically mean Visible shorted you—it means the math is different.

How to request a make-good from Visible when the credit seems too small
If your calculated prorated baseline is meaningfully higher than your posted credit, you can request a review. Don’t ask “why is it smaller?”—ask for a correction based on your outage window and cycle.
What to prepare before you contact support
- Your Visible phone number
- The outage date(s) and approximate times you were affected
- Your billing cycle dates (renewal start/end)
- Your plan price
- The credit amount shown in your account
- Your prorated calculation (even a screenshot of your math)
What to say (a concise request that support can act on)
Use language like:
“I received an outage credit of $X on DATE. Based on my plan price of $Y/month and the outage window of Z hours that overlapped my billing cycle, a prorated credit would be approximately $W. Can you review why my credit was lower and apply any additional make-good if eligible?”
This frames the issue as a calculation discrepancy, which is easier for agents to route.
Escalation paths that usually work
If the first agent can’t help, ask for a supervisor or “billing adjustments review.” If the chat doesn’t resolve it, check whether Visible offers a case number and request follow-up in writing through your account email.
Keep a timeline: request date, ticket/case number, and every response you receive.
When Visible may legitimately credit less (common scenarios)
Even if Verizon customers received a larger bill credit, Visible may credit less due to how it determines “affected time.” These are the most frequent causes.
Your plan cycle overlap was smaller
Visible credits may only apply to the portion of your current cycle that overlaps the outage window. If you renewed shortly after the worst period ended, your prorated credit will look smaller.
Your device wasn’t actually impacted consistently
If your phone briefly recovered during the outage or only lost service for a subset of hours, Visible may have internal signals (network logs) indicating partial impact.

Credit caps or different make-good policies
Some providers apply caps or minimums. For instance, a policy might guarantee a minimum credit but not exceed a certain amount per line—even during longer outages. That can make Visible look smaller than Verizon, depending on how Verizon structures its bill credits.
Different service tiers or add-ons
If you paid for add-ons (like premium support, extra lines, or plan differences), credits may only apply to base service time.
What to do if no credit appears
If Visible offered an outage credit publicly but your account shows none, act early. Delays can happen, but you shouldn’t wait indefinitely.
Confirm whether credits are automatic
Some make-goods are automatic for accounts that show impact signals. Others require you to file a request within a set window. If you’re not sure, check your Visible account notifications and recent messages, then contact support with your outage date and line number.

Document your outage window
Provide dates and times. Even if you can’t be exact to the minute, state “from approximately 1:00–5:30 PM local time” so support can compare to their internal outage tracking.

If you’re denied an adjustment after a solid proration argument, you still have options—some are financial, some are network-risk related.
Switch carriers with a service-quality plan
Before switching, compare network reliability history in your specific area and decide how much outage risk you’re willing to tolerate. If outages are common where you live/work, prepaid MVNO credits won’t fix the root issue.
Move to a plan where bill credits are more visible
Postpaid billing sometimes makes credits easier to track because they offset an invoice line item. If you want clearer, larger credits tied to invoices, you may prefer a postpaid structure—but you’ll need to weigh monthly cost differences.

Troubleshooting: credit posted but it looks wrong
If Visible posted a credit but it doesn’t match what you expected, you can investigate methodically.
Step 1: Verify the credit amount and where it applied
Confirm whether it reduced your current renewal or your next renewal. The same dollar amount can look different depending on when you paid.
Step 2: Recalculate your proration with the correct affected window
If you estimated “2 days” but the actual overlap was closer to “1 day and 6 hours,” your prorated baseline drops. Re-run the math with your best outage window estimate.

Step 3: Check for multiple adjustments
Sometimes you’ll see more than one adjustment line (e.g., credit + fee adjustment). If you only look at the largest line item, you may miss the total make-good.
Step 4: Ask support to confirm their outage-impact logic
You don’t need to argue emotionally. Ask: “Can you confirm how many hours/days you applied for my line, and which billing cycle it reduced?” A transparent answer helps you either accept the credit or request the difference.
FAQs
Does Visible always match Verizon’s outage credits?
No. Visible and Verizon can apply different make-good formulas because Visible is billed under its own prepaid-style system and may prorate differently based on how your line overlapped the outage window.
What if Verizon customers got a larger credit but I still got service?
Credits are often determined by network impact signals and billing-cycle overlap. Even during the same outage event, some lines experience partial disruption. If your service was usable for most of the window, a smaller credit may be expected.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →How long does an outage credit take to post on Visible?
There isn’t one universal timeline. Many credits post within days after the event, but delays can happen depending on internal verification. If nothing appears after a reasonable period, contact support and reference your outage dates.
Should I ask for the difference or just accept the posted credit?
If your prorated calculation is close (within a small tolerance), acceptance is usually reasonable. If your credit is far below the prorated baseline for the outage hours that overlap your billing cycle, request a review using your numbers.
Will my credit reset my plan or extend my service?
Usually credits adjust your account balance or renewal amount rather than “extending service” like an add-on. The exact behavior depends on how Visible applied the make-good to your cycle—check the credit posting details.
Bottom Line
Visible can offer an outage credit that’s smaller than Verizon’s even when the underlying outage affects the same network—because the billing model and credit math aren’t identical. Your job is to compare using the same outage window and calculate a prorated baseline from your Visible plan price.
If the numbers don’t reconcile, document your cycle overlap and request a billing adjustment review with a clear prorated calculation. That turns a complaint into a solvable case.
