Visa’s release provides actual results but no analyst-consensus estimate, so it does not establish that earnings beat expectations.
What Visa reported for fiscal Q3 2026
Visa’s fiscal third quarter covered the three months ended June 30, 2026. Its July 28 earnings release reported the following results:

These are Visa’s reported figures. The release does not provide an analyst-consensus estimate, so the results alone cannot confirm an earnings “beat.” A beat requires comparing actual results with a specified, attributable consensus estimate.

GAAP EPS is the company’s earnings measure prepared under generally accepted accounting principles. Visa’s non-GAAP figure excludes special items and related tax effects listed in the release. The two figures should be labeled separately: the $3.32 adjusted measure is not a replacement for the $2.97 GAAP result.

What Visa’s payment activity says—and does not say
For the three months ended June 30, Visa reported constant-dollar payments-volume growth of 10%, total cross-border-volume growth of 13%, and 71.7 billion processed transactions, up 10% year over year. These figures describe different parts of Visa’s network activity, not interchangeable measures of consumer spending.
- Payments volume: The value of payments processed on Visa’s network; Visa reported 10% constant-dollar growth for the quarter.
- Cross-border volume: A subset of payment activity involving cross-border transactions; Visa reported 13% constant-dollar growth for the quarter.
- Processed transactions: Transaction count rather than payment value; Visa reported 71.7 billion, up 10% year over year.
Visa management also gave an interim U.S. snapshot on its April 28 earnings call: through April 21, 2026, U.S. payments volume was up 9% year over year in constant dollars, with credit up 10% and debit up 8%. That dated snapshot is not the same period as the full fiscal Q3 figures.

Visa CEO Ryan McInerney characterized Q3 spending as resilient, saying: “Consumer and business spending remains resilient.” That is management’s assessment, not an independent measure of all household expenditure. Visa’s network data can indicate activity processed through its network, but it does not establish a broad “credit card culture boom” or capture every form of consumer spending.

What the $20 billion repurchase authorization means
Visa announced a new $20.0 billion multi-year Class A share-repurchase authorization on April 28, 2026, alongside its fiscal Q2 results. An authorization permits the company to buy shares over time; it is not a statement that Visa spent $20 billion in Q3 or will buy that amount immediately.

During fiscal Q3, Visa repurchased about 14.5 million Class A shares for $4.9 billion. As of June 30, the company reported $28.4 billion in remaining authorized funds across its repurchase programs. That total reflects remaining capacity across programs, not just the April authorization.

The results show year-over-year growth in revenue, EPS, payment volume, cross-border volume, and transactions. But the available company disclosures do not establish a dated share-price move or prove that any immediate market reaction was caused by earnings. They also do not establish an analyst-estimate beat. A claim that the stock “jumped” or that earnings triggered a particular move requires a price source, a defined comparison window, and attributable consensus data.
