Village in the Shade separates free game updates from purchasable DLC. The publisher says Patch 1.20 is a free update and available; Patch 2 was planned as another free update for October 27, 2026, while paid DLC was planned for Spring 2027. Those later dates and details are announcements, not confirmation that the content has since been released. The publisher’s announcements are the source for these plans.
Free updates and paid DLC are different things
The publisher describes a plan to release both free updates and purchasable DLC. Updates add content or changes to the game without a separate purchase; DLC is additional content the publisher intends to sell. In the publisher’s announcement, Patch 1.20 is explicitly identified as the first free update.

Some update additions may still require progress inside the game, and an item that must be bought with in-game availability is not the same as paid DLC. For example, Patch 1.20’s camping furniture becomes available for purchase at the General Store after a game milestone, but the patch itself is free.

What Patch 1.20 adds
Camping furniture
The update adds a camping furniture series of 11 items. Obtain the Pheasant Hunting Permit first; after that, the items become purchasable from the General Store.

New animals
Silkie Chickens and Mallards are available from Chinana’s stall after you reach Autumn of the first year. This is a separate progression requirement from the camping furniture unlock.
Quality-of-life changes and fixes
Patch 1.20 also includes improvements and bug fixes. The publisher lists improved livestock behavior, more weeds eaten by ducks in paddies based on affection, and a display for scarecrow duration. It also describes continuous loading and unloading for processing machines while holding the button, plus fixes for issues including spawning beneath buildings under construction and event display problems.

Deluxe Edition digital extras
The publisher’s Deluxe Edition announcement describes two digital extras: the Touring Kagatsu Artbook and the original soundtrack, Sounds from the Shade. The soundtrack contains all 38 in-game tracks and is credited to Kazuya Takasu and ZIZZ STUDIO. Both extras were also announced as available for separate purchase.
