FPT says it will add a practical artificial-intelligence application assessment to entry-level recruitment requirements starting in 2026. The company has described the capability it wants—using AI in real work and producing measurable improvement—but has not published the test provider, format, duration, scoring system, pass mark, software environment or preparation guide.
What FPT announced
At FPT Leader Talk 2026 at Foreign Trade University, FPT chief human-resources officer Chu Quang Huy said the company had added a practical AI-application assessment for entry-level candidates beginning in 2026. That wording establishes a test for fresh graduates and other entry-level applicants; it does not show that every experienced-hire, internal-transfer or specialist recruitment process uses the same assessment.

Huy contrasted the new requirement with FPT’s earlier entry-level screening. He said that 10–15 years ago, candidates were mainly assessed on English proficiency, logical reasoning and general aptitude. AI application has now been added as a distinct expectation as the company changes how it defines job readiness.

FPT is drawing a line between having tried a chatbot and being able to use AI responsibly in a workplace. Its stated expectation is that employees can integrate AI into workflows, increase productivity and deliver results that can be measured. In FPT’s words, “Having used AI does not necessarily mean someone can apply the technology effectively at work.”
#1 Best Overall
Nguyen Xuan Phong, FPT’s AI Transformation Director, identifies three capabilities behind that standard:
Domain expertise
A candidate must understand the business or technical problem before asking an AI system to help. That includes knowing the relevant terminology, constraints, quality criteria and what a useful answer would look like.
AI fluency
Applicants are expected to know how to formulate useful requests, choose or use appropriate AI tools and evaluate the resulting output. This is broader than memorizing prompt formulas: tool selection and verification matter as much as wording.

Human judgment
People remain responsible for identifying the problem, checking results, recognizing risks and making the final decision. FPT’s description puts accuracy, privacy, security and other consequences ahead of blindly accepting generated content.
Does every new FPT hire have to take it?
Not on the evidence currently available. The public announcement specifically refers to entry-level recruitment requirements. It does not state that the assessment applies to experienced hires, contractors, internal transfers or every FPT business unit. Until FPT publishes a broader policy, candidates should read “new hires” in this announcement as entry-level applicants rather than a universal company-wide rule.
What will be on the test?
FPT has not released a syllabus or sample questions. The announcement does not identify a vendor, question types, test length, scoring method, pass threshold, candidate volume or software environment. There is therefore no reliable basis for claiming that the assessment is a standardized prompt-engineering exam, a multiple-choice test or a particular vendor certification.
The safest interpretation is a practical exercise aligned with the competencies FPT has named. A task could plausibly require a candidate to apply an AI tool to a domain problem, explain the workflow, inspect the output and justify a final decision, but FPT has not confirmed those mechanics. Treat any unofficial “leaked” format or assumed score as unverified.

- Choose a real domain task. Work on something connected to the role you want—such as summarizing technical material, drafting a customer-response workflow, analyzing a spreadsheet or generating test cases—rather than practicing disconnected chatbot prompts.
- Document the workflow. Record the problem, the information supplied to the tool, the instructions used, the checks performed and the human decisions that followed. This demonstrates a repeatable process rather than a one-off answer.
- Measure the improvement. Track a defensible before-and-after measure, such as turnaround time, error count, coverage of test cases or the amount of manual work removed. Do not claim productivity gains you cannot demonstrate.
- Audit every output. Check facts against authoritative material, look for omissions and plausible-sounding errors, and test whether the result meets the task’s quality requirements.
- Review risk controls. Practice spotting personal or confidential data, security weaknesses, biased recommendations, copyright concerns and situations where an AI output should not be used without expert review.
- Strengthen subject knowledge. FPT explicitly treats domain expertise, AI fluency and human judgment as a combination. Generic familiarity with chatbots cannot substitute for understanding the work itself.
Because FPT says requirements can change within months, preparation should be continuous. Learn how tools behave, but keep updating the underlying domain skills and your method for validating results.
Where CASAN fits
FPT describes CASAN as a five-level AI-transformation framework:
| Level | FPT’s description |
|---|---|
| 1 | Familiarization with AI |
| 2 | Using AI to improve individual capability |
| 3 | Workflow standardization |
| 4 | Process automation |
| 5 | AI integration into the enterprise operating model |
CASAN indicates the direction of FPT’s transformation ambitions, but the company has not said that the entry-level assessment assigns a CASAN level or uses the framework as its scoring rubric.
Related skills architecture is not proof of the test format
In January 2026, FPT Software separately described a unified skills architecture intended to provide a common skills language across recruitment, workforce planning, learning and delivery operations. It said assessments linked to job profiles were planned for a later phase. That announcement supplies organizational context, but it does not establish that the new entry-level AI assessment uses that architecture, shares its scoring model or has already reached that later phase.
What candidates should watch for next
- A named assessment provider or testing platform.
- Official instructions covering duration, permitted tools, data handling and the test environment.
- A published competency rubric, score or pass threshold.
- Different requirements for entry-level, experienced and internal candidates.
- Sample tasks or an official preparation guide.
Until those items appear, applicants should prepare for demonstrated workplace use of AI rather than for a presumed list of prompt tricks. The announcement establishes the capability FPT values, not a fully specified standardized examination.
