Start with a customer question, not a posting schedule
Choose a useful question your video can answer: What makes this product distinctive? What happens during a tour? What should a visitor expect at the tasting room? Those are sensible creative starting points, not proven formulas for growth.

Choose a clear purpose
- Introduce the distillery: explain its history, location, or production approach using accurate, verifiable details.
- Set expectations for a visit: show the visitor experience and direct viewers to current information about tours, hours, reservations, and age requirements.
- Explain a product: identify the product accurately and keep its description consistent with the approved label.
Before filming, decide what action you want an interested viewer to take, such as visiting a tour-information page or making a qualified inquiry. A video can support that journey, but the sources summarized here do not establish that any one subject, platform, or cadence will increase customer reach.

Decide whether the video is an alcohol advertisement
For U.S. federal guidance, the key question is not whether a video is called “content” or posted organically. TTB’s Alcohol Beverage Advertising FAQ defines advertising to include a statement, illustration, or depiction that is in, or calculated to induce sales in, interstate or foreign commerce, or disseminated by mail. TTB Industry Circular 2024-1, dated October 30, 2024, says the advertising regulations apply to advertisements in any medium, including social media.

A product-focused video, a paid creator placement, a product link, or third-party material reposted or liked by an industry member may therefore be part of an advertisement. TTB says influencer work carried out on behalf of an alcohol-industry member to induce sales is subject to its advertising rules, and material an industry member reposts or likes can become part of its advertising. Review the whole post and its context, rather than only the spoken script.
Make the advertising review part of production
- Identify the responsible advertiser. Establish who is responsible for the content and who will review it before publication.
- Review every element. Check spoken claims, captions, on-screen text, product and label imagery, links, creator disclosures, and any reposted material together.
- Check applicable product information. For distilled spirits, TTB’s listed mandatory information generally includes the responsible advertiser’s contact information, class and type, alcohol content by volume, and certain neutral-spirit disclosures when applicable. The actual product and applicable exceptions matter; do not assume every product has identical requirements.
- Confirm the rules that apply to the specific publication. The federal guidance here is not a substitute for checking current regulations, state and local law, platform rules, and the product’s approved label.
Keep required information easy to find and claims accurate
TTB says mandatory information in an advertisement must be conspicuous, readily legible, and apparent. When a platform’s space is constrained, a clearly named link may lead directly to the required product information. That link should take viewers straight to information that is legible and conspicuous, without requiring an account, sign-in, or extra navigation. A link does not make misleading content acceptable: the advertisement itself still needs enough product context not to mislead.

- Make on-screen text large and readable on a phone, and leave it visible long enough to read.
- Keep product identity, production descriptions, and any statements about the bottle consistent with the approved label and actual product.
- Avoid health, therapeutic, or implied-effect claims. Do not suggest that drinking produces a health benefit or a particular personal effect.
- Check that captions, thumbnails, creator scripts, and landing-page copy do not introduce claims absent from the main video.
Use creators, reposts, and AI visuals carefully
Paid or sponsored creator content
If a creator is working on behalf of an alcohol-industry member to induce sales, TTB advertising rules apply. Treat the creator’s statements, product shots, captions, and destination links as parts of the review. Agree in advance on accurate product descriptions and review the final published version, not just a draft script.

TTB says material an industry member reposts or likes can become part of its advertising. Do not assume that sharing a customer’s or creator’s post removes the need for review. Consider the content and the context in which the business amplifies it.

AI-generated imagery
AI does not create an exception to advertising requirements. TTB’s guidance dated March 2, 2026, says an AI-generated depiction of a product label must reproduce the approved label. Check generated bottle and label images against the real approved product depiction; reject visuals that misrepresent what is in the bottle. Review all AI-assisted copy and imagery for misleading product, health, or effect claims as well.
Measure what happens after publication
Because the official guidance cited here does not establish which video tactics increase reach, visits, or revenue, treat performance as a question for your own audience. Pick one business outcome before publishing—for example, qualified visitor inquiries or tour bookings—and decide how you will recognize it.

- Record the measurement period and the outcome you are tracking. Keep the period consistent when comparing similar campaigns.
