Vesta says its loan-origination platform lets mortgage lenders assign work to staff or AI agents, with the aim of automating parts of the process while keeping lenders responsible for lending decisions.
What Vesta does
Founded in 2020 by Mike Yu and Devon Yang, Vesta sells a loan origination system (LOS) for mortgage lenders. An LOS manages the work and information involved in processing a mortgage from application through funding. Vesta describes its platform as AI-native: teams can route tasks to employees or agents, classify and extract information from documents, run automated checks, and use assistants to answer questions or make loan-file changes. The company says agent actions and reasoning are recorded in an audit trail; these are vendor-described capabilities, not an independent assessment of performance or audit implementation. How the funding round is structured
TechCrunch reported that Conversion Capital led the $30 million round. The report also names Vesta customers Pennymac and New American Funding as investors, alongside Citi Ventures and Andreessen Horowitz. It puts Vesta’s total funding to date at $85 million. These details are reported by TechCrunch; a separate primary financing announcement was not identified. TechCrunch’s report

How lenders can use the agents
Vesta’s proposed model allows lenders to expand agent responsibility in stages rather than handing over a whole workflow at once. CEO Mike Yu told TechCrunch that customers may start with a person approving an agent’s work, then let the agent handle a portion of loans, and expand its role over time. Yu also said some lenders use agents to make underwriting decisions. He emphasized that lenders remain responsible for underwriting decisions regardless of which software they use.

That accountability is a key distinction: an agent may support or perform a step, but the lender still owns the lending decision. For a lender evaluating the platform, the practical questions include how exceptions are escalated, what staff can review or override, and what the audit trail records.
What adoption and outcome claims show
Verus Mortgage Capital
Vesta announced that Verus Mortgage Capital went live on its platform in July 2026, replacing its legacy LOS. The announcement says Vesta’s document intelligence, a task-resolving agent, and a loan assistant were live in production. These are claims from Vesta and Verus, not an independent evaluation of operating results. Vesta’s announcement
New American Funding
Vesta and New American Funding announced a partnership on July 15, 2026. Their stated plan is a phased rollout in 2027 covering workflows across underwriting, processing, and funding. That announcement describes a planned deployment, not a completed rollout. Vesta’s announcement
Pennymac and other reported metrics
Vesta’s website says Pennymac reported a 25% reduction in operational cost to originate on its fourth-quarter 2025 earnings call. Vesta’s LOS page also presents 50% efficiency gains for loan officers and a reduction in processing time from 14.5 to 11 hours. The definitions and underlying data are not supplied alongside those figures, so they should not be treated as directly comparable lender-wide benchmarks. Vesta’s LOS information
Rank #3
TechCrunch attributed to Yu claims of 12× year-over-year revenue growth and less than 5% market share. Those are CEO-reported figures, not audited financial statements or independently established market-share measurements. Yu also told TechCrunch that U.S. mortgages take around 40 days to close and cost around $11,000 per loan; the report does not establish a methodology for those estimates, so they should not be read as universal industry measurements. Where Vesta fits in the mortgage software market
TechCrunch names ICE Mortgage Technology as a traditional mortgage-software competitor and Xpanse as an AI-native competitor. Yu argues that legacy systems were not designed for agents and that adding agents to them is difficult. That is Vesta’s competitive position, not proof that its system is superior.
Rank #4
A useful comparison should look beyond the AI label. Lenders can assess which loan stages and tasks are covered, how the system integrates with existing tools, how exceptions move between agents and staff, what controls and audit records are available, whether a deployment is live or planned, and whether outcome measures are independently defined. The available information does not establish a neutral head-to-head comparison.

What the $30 million means
The round gives Vesta new capital to expand its product and business, according to TechCrunch’s account of the announcement. Yu told the outlet that the company was still below 5% market share and wanted to staff up, pursue the market, and invest in new product lines. The funding and adoption announcements indicate that Vesta is pursuing lender adoption, but they do not by themselves establish how much time or cost its software will save across the industry.
