The board elected him on September 30, according to Vertex’s Form 8-K. The company says his enterprise AI, data and cloud experience will support its AI-first strategy; the appointment itself does not establish that Vertex’s products or business results have improved.
Appointment dates and board term
Vertex’s board elected Saha on September 30, 2026, following a recommendation from its Nominating and Governance Committee. Vertex announced the appointment and filed its Form 8-K on October 1. His board service is scheduled to take effect October 7, 2026. Vertex announcement · Form 8-K
The filing names Saha a Class II director and sets the term to expire at Vertex’s 2028 Annual Meeting of Stockholders, unless his service ends sooner or until a successor is duly elected and qualified. For this seat, “Class II” identifies the director class and its scheduled term endpoint; the filing does not, by itself, establish details about the company’s full board-class structure.
Vertex says its board determined Saha is independent under applicable Nasdaq listing standards and SEC rules. This is the board’s stated determination under those standards.

Vertex CEO Christopher Young said, “Debanjan’s experience at the forefront of several major technological transitions, including cloud and now AI, brings the unique perspective that we need to meet the moment.” Young also said that as companies embed AI in business systems, Saha’s insight would be valuable as Vertex builds an AI-first company and helps customers change how indirect tax and compliance work gets done.

These are the views expressed by the company and its incoming director in the announcement, not independent evidence of customer outcomes or product performance.
What changes in the board snapshot
Vertex said the appointment would expand its board from nine to ten members, eight of them independent. Those figures describe the company’s announcement-date board snapshot, not an independently verified measure of board effectiveness. Vertex’s leadership page provides broader background on its current leadership and directors, but the appointment-specific term and independence determination are set out in the Form 8-K.
