Availability depends on the customer’s plan, postpaid status and enrollment. The same loyalty program can waive activation and upgrade fees, return 3% in Verizon Dollars and provide access to Verizon Shine promotions.
Which Verizon perks are free?
The complimentary safety tier includes three services. Digital Secure helps protect connected devices from malicious websites and known vulnerabilities. Verizon Family provides location sharing and Safe Walk features, while Call Filter identifies and blocks spam calls. Verizon is also offering one month of Digital Secure Premium as a free test drive; that trial is separate from the ongoing complimentary tier and may have its own enrollment terms.

How Verizon Family and Safe Walk work
Location sharing and check-ins
Verizon Family lets members share locations and review selected calling and texting activity. Verizon’s support description allows sharing with up to five members. Safe Walk can share a member’s location with designated emergency contacts and send an SOS alert when help is needed.
Safe Walk is not a 911 replacement
The free service has a critical limitation: Verizon’s FAQ states, “Safe Walk SOS (free service) doesn’t contact 911.” An SOS can notify the people configured as contacts, but it does not create an emergency-services call. Families should keep ordinary emergency-calling methods available and explain that distinction to children and other users before relying on the feature.

Why location tools matter to families
In a Morning Consult survey of 2,000 parents and caregivers conducted Sept. 20–24, 2024 on Verizon’s behalf, 63% said they felt anxious when they could not readily see a loved one’s location. That is survey data, not a measurement of every family’s experience, but it explains the practical appeal of location sharing and check-in tools.
What Family Plus adds
Verizon Family Plus is not simply another name for the free tier. It is a separate eligible-plan upgrade or paid option that adds capabilities such as driving insights, roadside assistance and advanced parental controls. The exact price and eligibility depend on the Verizon plan and the account’s offer terms, so check the plan-perks area before assuming those features are included.

How to claim the six-month Google AI Pro offer
- Open the My Verizon app or website and sign in as the account manager.
- Open the account’s products, plan or perks section and look for the Google AI Pro offer.
- Start enrollment from that Verizon listing rather than subscribing directly through Google, so the promotional entitlement is attached to the eligible line or account.
- Complete the Google account setup shown during enrollment and note the date the six-month period ends.
- If sharing the benefit, create or select a Google Family Group. Google’s FAQ says the family manager can add up to five other people.
Eligibility is limited to customers covered by Verizon’s offer, and the benefit lasts six months rather than indefinitely. Review the renewal terms displayed during activation so you know what happens after the promotional period.

Verizon reported one million families enrolled in Verizon Family in a March 30, 2026 milestone article. It also reported 360 million automatic updates and 251 million personal check-ins during the prior year. Verizon said the underlying data were dated Nov. 24, 2025, and that one of the figures was extrapolated over 365 days, so the numbers should be read as Verizon’s reported usage totals rather than an independently audited measure.

Where the Gizmo Watch fits
The Verizon Gizmo Watch is the company’s phone-free smartwatch for children. It is designed to connect directly with Verizon Family management, making it the most relevant hardware companion to these family features. Before buying, confirm the current model, required watch line or plan, compatibility with the family-management app, seller and total service cost. Verizon’s cited announcement does not establish a current price or battery-life comparison, so those details should not be assumed from the free-perks offer.

- Confirm that the account is postpaid when a benefit requires postpaid eligibility.
- Open My Verizon and verify which lines or plans display each perk.
- Read whether an offer is a continuing inclusion, a one-month trial or a six-month promotion.
- For Safe Walk, configure contacts and remember that the free SOS service does not contact 911.
- For Family Plus, verify the separate charge or plan requirement before enabling advanced features.
- Record the Google AI Pro promotion’s end date and any post-promotion billing terms.
Together, these offers make Verizon’s free package most useful for households that want basic device protection, spam-call screening, location sharing and a limited AI subscription without adding each service separately. The value depends on eligibility and enrollment, while Family Plus and hardware such as the Gizmo Watch remain separate decisions.
