Neither Verizon 5G Home nor AT&T Internet Air is a reliable nationwide winner. Both deliver home internet over a cellular network, but availability, price and performance depend on your exact address. Check eligibility with both providers, compare the checkout totals, and judge performance locally—especially during busy hours—before choosing.

Check whether service is actually available at your home
Enter your service address on each provider’s site. General 5G coverage does not establish that either company will offer fixed home internet there: AT&T says Internet Air is not available everywhere, and Verizon says 5G Home is not offered at every location with 5G Ultra Wideband coverage. Use the address check for the service, not a cellular coverage map alone. AT&T availability; Verizon availability

Compare the real monthly cost, not just the headline
AT&T Internet Air
AT&T advertises Internet Air from $55 per month plus taxes and fees. That offer requires AutoPay and paperless billing, and the page notes that availability is limited. Check the current quote for your address and confirm the amount due after any qualifying billing requirements.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteVerizon 5G Home
Verizon offers three tiers, but its page uses dynamic pricing and may show promotional or discount-dependent prices. Your address, AutoPay and possible mobile bundling can affect the quote. Compare the amount you qualify for and what it becomes after any promotion; do not treat a displayed teaser as a universal standard rate.

For either service, compare the same things: monthly base price, taxes and fees, required discounts, promotion duration and whether a qualifying mobile plan is needed. Verizon’s published base-rate guarantee is three years for 5G Home, four for Plus and five for Ultimate; it applies to the then-current base monthly rate, not other charges, discounts, promotions, perks or third-party services.
Understand what the speed claims do—and do not—tell you
Verizon publishes plan-specific download ceilings: up to 100 Mbps for 5G Home, 150 Mbps for 5G Home Plus and 300 Mbps for 5G Home Ultimate. These are provider claims, not independent test results, and Verizon says speeds vary with cellular-network factors.

- DUAL-BAND WIFI 6 ROUTER: Wi-Fi 6(802.11ax) technology achieves faster speeds, greater capacity and reduced network congestion compared to the previous gen. All WiFi routers require a separate modem. Dual-Band WiFi routers do not support the 6 GHz band.
- AX1800: Enjoy smoother and more stable streaming, gaming, downloading with 1.8 Gbps total bandwidth (up to 1200 Mbps on 5 GHz and up to 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz). Performance varies by conditions, distance to devices, and obstacles such as walls.
- CONNECT MORE DEVICES: Wi-Fi 6 technology communicates more data to more devices simultaneously using revolutionary OFDMA technology
- EXTENSIVE COVERAGE: Achieve the strong, reliable WiFi coverage with Archer AX1800 as it focuses signal strength to your devices far away using Beamforming technology, 4 high-gain antennas and an advanced front-end module (FEM) chipset
- OUR CYBERSECURITY COMMITMENT: TP-Link is a signatory of the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s (CISA) Secure-by-Design pledge. This device is designed, built, and maintained, with advanced security as a core requirement.
AT&T’s reviewed residential Internet Air pages do not give a numeric speed range that can be compared directly with Verizon’s tier ceilings. That absence is not evidence that AT&T is slower or faster. Neither provider’s marketing page establishes the speeds or reliability you will get inside a particular home.
Fixed wireless depends on local cellular conditions, so performance can differ between nearby homes and change over time. If you can try a service before relying on it, check download and upload speeds, latency, and consistency at the times your household is online—particularly evenings. Consider video calls, gaming, large uploads and simultaneous streaming, not just a single download result.

Know how “unlimited” data and congestion rules work
AT&T’s network-management disclosure
AT&T advertises unlimited data and no overage charges, but that does not mean speeds are guaranteed at all times. The company says it may temporarily slow speeds when the network is busy. It also says that, in rare cases where a customer’s usage contributes to congestion, it may greatly reduce that customer’s speed for at least 30 minutes.
Verizon’s usage restrictions
Verizon directs customers to its customer agreement for usage restrictions. Review the current agreement for the service and plan you are considering; the plan page does not establish a directly comparable congestion threshold.

Consider the equipment and video features
Both services provide the core gateway, so the comparison does not require buying a generic modem. AT&T includes its All-Fi Hub and advertises self-setup at no charge. Verizon includes its router/gateway and retains ownership, so return it when disconnecting. Verizon describes HD and 4K distinctions across tiers, but those labels do not guarantee a particular viewing experience if the local connection is congested or inconsistent. Check the plan details for the exact video features. ;
A practical way to choose
- Check both addresses. Confirm that each provider accepts your exact service location.
- Get current checkout quotes. Record the monthly cost, taxes and fees, required AutoPay or mobile discounts, and how long any promotion lasts.
- Match plan features to your use. Compare Verizon’s stated speed ceilings and video-tier descriptions with your household’s needs, while recognizing that AT&T’s reviewed pages do not publish a matching residential speed range.
- Read the network-management terms. Account for AT&T’s congestion disclosures and Verizon’s customer-agreement restrictions.
- Judge local performance if possible. Evaluate real download and upload speeds, latency and busy-hour consistency before making either service your only connection.
When a wired connection may be the better alternative
If cable or fiber is available at your address, compare it separately. This comparison does not establish that either fixed-wireless service will outperform a wired option. Availability and actual performance should decide whether 5G home internet is a fit for your household.
