Verbindingsassistentie kan in iOS 27 mobiele data naast wifi gebruiken wanneer wifi zwak, druk of niet met internet verbonden is. Je vindt de schakelaar via Instellingen > Wifi. De functie kan je mobiele dataverbruik verhogen, maar Apple publiceert geen vaste hoeveelheid of snelheidstest.
Wat doet Verbindingsassistentie?
Als Verbindingsassistentie aanstaat, gebruikt de iPhone mobiele data samen met wifi om de internetverbinding betrouwbaar te houden wanneer wifi zwak is, druk bezet is of geen internetverbinding heeft. Apple noemt onder meer thuis, cafés, luchthavens en stadions als mogelijke situaties. Apple beschrijft op zijn algemene iOS 27-pagina ook dat de iPhone automatisch de beste wifi- of mobiele verbinding kiest en soepeler schakelt. Dat is een bredere beschrijving van iOS 27. Apple legt niet precies uit hoe die claim technisch samenhangt met de afzonderlijke schakelaar Verbindingsassistentie.

Verbindingsassistentie aan- of uitzetten
- Werk je iPhone bij naar de nieuwste iOS-versie.
- Open Instellingen > Wifi en controleer of wifi aanstaat.
- Scrol omlaag naar Verbindingsassistentie.
- Zet de schakelaar aan of uit.
Wil je wifi voor een specifiek netwerk altijd gebruiken, bijvoorbeeld vanwege een routerconfiguratie voor advertentieblokkering, dan adviseert Apple Verbindingsassistentie voor dat netwerk uit te schakelen. Raadpleeg Apple’s instructies voor de betreffende netwerkinstelling.

Wat verandert er ten opzichte van Wifi-assistentie?
Verbindingsassistentie vervangt de oudere instelling Wifi-assistentie, die bij de mobiele-data-instellingen stond. Volgens Apple hangt de beginstand na het bijwerken af van de oude instelling: stond Wifi-assistentie aan, dan staat Verbindingsassistentie standaard aan; stond die uit, dan kun je Verbindingsassistentie zelf inschakelen. Controleer de instelling na de update als je wilt weten wat op jouw iPhone geldt.
Gebruikt Verbindingsassistentie extra mobiele data?
Dat kan. Omdat de functie mobiele data kan gebruiken naast wifi, kan het mobiele dataverbruik toenemen. Hoeveel extra data dat oplevert, hangt af van het gebruik en de omstandigheden; Apple noemt geen vaste hoeveelheid, percentage of benchmark. De iPhone-handleiding vermeldt dat je het mobiele dataverbruik van Verbindingsassistentie kunt bekijken en de teller kunt resetten, maar beschrijft hier geen vaste hoeveelheid verbruik. Wanneer wordt de functie niet gebruikt?
- Bij internationaal roamen.
- Wanneer de mobiele Weinig data-modus is ingeschakeld.
- In sommige apps van derden die audio of video streamen. Apple noemt deze apps niet bij naam.
Deze uitzonderingen zijn volgens Apple van toepassing op Verbindingsassistentie; ze zeggen op zichzelf niets over andere manieren waarop een app of iPhone mobiele data gebruikt.
Voor wie is uitschakelen het overwegen waard?
Als je mobiele databundel beperkt is of je wifi om een specifieke reden via een bepaalde routerconfiguratie wilt gebruiken, kan uitschakelen passend zijn. Je verliest dan het gebruik van deze functie om mobiele data naast zwakke of onbruikbare wifi in te zetten. Je kunt de schakelaar later weer aanpassen via Instellingen > Wifi.
