Vega announced on October 6, 2026, that Scott Simkin had joined the company as Chief Marketing Officer. Vega links the appointment to its launch of Vega II and its ambition to define what it calls a “post-SIEM” era—a category position, not an established industry consensus.

What Vega announced

Vega said Simkin would lead its marketing as the company promotes its cyber defense platform and shapes its category narrative. The appointment was announced alongside Vega II. The company’s release describes Simkin as having held marketing roles at Palo Alto Networks and CrowdStrike, including work on Cortex, Falcon, and Falcon Next-Gen SIEM. That career history is based on Vega’s announcement.

Vega also attributes a statement of more than $600 million in annual recurring revenue for CrowdStrike Falcon Next-Gen SIEM to CrowdStrike. The figure appears in Vega’s release; it is not independently verified here and should not be read as a figure confirmed by CrowdStrike.

What “post-SIEM” means in Vega’s pitch

Vega is presenting its Security Analytics Mesh as a way to work across data lakes, object storage, security tools, and existing SIEMs, supporting detection, triage, investigation, and optimization. The company describes this model as part of cyber defense beyond the traditional SIEM. Its release does not establish that the platform replaces every SIEM or that the approach is faster, cheaper, or more effective than alternatives.

Simkin framed the question behind the pitch this way: “For three years, CISOs have asked me the same question about AI in their SOC: isn’t this just an iteration on the SIEM? They were right, and Vega is the answer.” The statement reflects Simkin’s account of conversations, not a representative survey of security leaders. Vega co-founder and CEO Shay Sandler described the company’s ambition: “Once a generation, a company changes how security gets done. For Cyber Defense in the age of AI, that company is Vega.” Both are claims and opinions from the company’s announcement.

What the announcement does—and does not—show

The appointment signals that Vega intends to invest in communicating a distinct position around AI-era security operations and its Vega II offering. The release provides the company’s description of its product and strategy, but does not independently demonstrate product capabilities, customer adoption, market leadership, or comparative performance.

Vega’s company materials say it was founded in 2024. Its announcement reports $185 million raised and names Accel, Cyberstarts, Redpoint, and CRV as backers; those funding and investor details are company-reported. For a buyer assessing the “post-SIEM” proposition, practical questions include where data is stored and whether it must be moved or ingested, which tools and sources are supported, what tasks are automated, and how accuracy, cost, performance, and human oversight are measured.
