The VANKYO Performance H500R’s clearest advantage is built-in Roku TV: you can stream supported apps without plugging in a separate streaming player. VANKYO also advertises native 1080p resolution and 330 ANSI lumens, but those are specifications—not independent measurements of picture quality. The evidence does not establish a separate “hidden extra” feature.
What the H500R is—and what “built-in Roku” means
The H500R is an LCD projector with an LED light source and Roku TV integrated into the device. VANKYO says it provides access to apps including Netflix and YouTube, so ordinary supported streaming does not require a separate Roku player. Roku activation does require an internet connection and a Roku account; the manual says activation is free, while some channels may require payment and availability can vary by region. VANKYO’s product page and the H500R manual describe the platform and activation.

The “hidden extra” in the headline is not supported as an undisclosed hardware feature. The substantiated differentiator is Roku integration, which simplifies streaming setup but does not remove the need for internet access or a Roku account.

These figures describe listed features, not demonstrated results. ProjectorCentral’s listing also gives 330 ANSI lumens and 1920 × 1080 resolution, but it is a specification listing rather than an independent brightness or image-quality test. How it handles streaming and mirroring
Use the Roku platform for supported streaming apps rather than assuming wireless screen mirroring will work for every service. The manual specifically warns that copyrighted content from Hulu, Disney+ and similar services cannot be mirrored or cast wirelessly, and directs users to the corresponding Roku channel where available. That warning reflects the manual’s stated guidance; it should not be read as a universal claim about every app, region or future service policy.
VANKYO lists wireless mirroring as a feature, but the distinction matters: mirroring a device screen and playing a service through its Roku app are different routes. Check whether the app you need is available for Roku in your region before buying.

Room size, placement and picture expectations
VANKYO advertises a 40–150-inch image range. The manual recommends an 80-inch image at about 2.2 metres (7.22 feet) and says a dark environment improves clarity. The advertised maximum is not a promise that the image will remain equally bright or clear at every size; 330 ANSI lumens is the manufacturer’s claimed output, not an independent measurement at a particular screen size.

VANKYO lists a projection distance of 1.1–3.3 metres, while the manual’s chart extends to about 4.1 metres for its largest indicated size. Use the manual’s size-and-distance guidance to plan your room rather than treating one distance range as universal. The projector supports front, rear and ceiling installation and has a 1/4-inch mounting point; VANKYO says the screw is not included.

Setup features and connections
Auto focus and auto keystone are intended to make positioning easier, and the manufacturer also lists manual/electric adjustment. These features do not establish that setup is instantaneous or that the resulting image will be perfectly rectangular in every placement. The available sources do not provide independent evaluations of focus, keystone performance, input lag or speaker quality.
For external equipment, the listed HDMI 1.4 port, USB 2.0 port and audio output provide wired connection options, while dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.2 provide wireless connectivity. The built-in pair of 5W speakers may be convenient for basic viewing, but listed wattage alone cannot establish loudness or sound quality.

Price and availability are inconsistent snapshots
On October 7, 2026, VANKYO’s product page displayed $199.99 and said the projector would be available soon. ProjectorCentral listed a $198 MSRP and the status “Shipping” when accessed the same date. These conflicting listings do not establish current stock or the price a buyer will actually pay; check the retailer’s live listing before ordering. The launch announcement, dated October 15, 2025, described a Walmart-first launch, but it is manufacturer-provided promotional material rather than independent verification of current availability. Who should consider the H500R?
A plausible fit
- You want a projector with Roku built in and prefer not to connect a separate streaming player.
- Your room can be darkened, and you can place the projector at a distance appropriate for your desired image size.
- You value built-in focus and keystone adjustments, basic onboard audio and common wired connections.
Reasons to pause
- You need independently verified brightness or image quality: the available figures are specifications, not independent test results.
- You expect a large image to stay bright in a lit room; the advertised size range does not guarantee that outcome.
- You rely on wireless mirroring for copyrighted streaming apps; the manual warns that this route may be blocked for named services.
- You need certainty about current stock or price; the two listings accessed October 7, 2026 conflict.
Verdict
The H500R’s practical selling point is straightforward: Roku TV is built in, alongside a manufacturer-listed 1080p panel, automatic setup adjustments and basic connectivity. It may suit a dark-room viewer who wants an all-in-one streaming projector, but the specifications alone cannot establish real-world brightness, image quality or audio performance. Treat the price and availability as retailer-specific snapshots and verify them before purchase.
