How the runs are structured
Vampire Survivors: continuous survival
Vampire Survivors is described by its developer, poncle, as a time-survival game with minimalistic gameplay and roguelite elements. You move through a run, gather experience and add weapons and upgrades as enemy pressure grows. Gold earned in play can be spent on upgrades that help later survivors. Its Steam listing does not promise a standard run length, so it is not directly comparable to a timed target for Brotato. Steam store listing.

Brotato: timed waves and shop breaks
Brotato divides a run into arena waves. Blobfish’s Steam listing states that waves last 20 to 90 seconds and describes runs as under 30 minutes. Between waves, you spend collected materials in a shop, giving the game a regular pause for choosing items and adjusting your build. These are publisher-stated specifications, not independently measured averages. Steam store listing.

Vampire Survivors builds momentum during play
Weapons and upgrades accumulate as the run continues, so much of the build develops while you are already fighting. The Steam description frames the goal as surviving hordes and becoming the “bullet hell.” The listing supports mouse, keyboard, controller and touch input. It presents a continuous action loop rather than a sequence of shop decisions.

Brotato asks you to plan between fights
Brotato combines character traits, items and loadouts of up to six weapons. Auto-firing is the default, with manual aiming available as an option. Co-op and platform availability
Both Steam listings document local co-op for up to four players. The Vampire Survivors Steam listing also lists online co-op. Features can vary by platform, so confirm the specific storefront listing for the version you plan to play.

Prices and add-ons depend on the store
When the listed store pages were checked on October 7, 2026, Steam displayed a US$4.99 base price for each game. PlayStation Canada displayed Vampire Survivors at CA$5.99, while Xbox UK listed Brotato from £4.19. These are storefront displays from that date, not universal or guaranteed current prices; country, currency and sales affect what you see. Check your local store before buying.
The Steam pages also showed optional add-ons. For Vampire Survivors, listed examples included Legacy of the Moonspell, Tides of the Foscari, Emergency Meeting, Operation Guns and Ode to Castlevania.
