Operation Guns is the focused Contra-style choice, while Emergency Meeting is the Among Us option. Emerald Diorama is a substantial collaboration with 12 characters and 16 weapons, but it is free and should be judged separately from the paid packs.
There is no evidence-based answer that one DLC has the universally “best” characters. Character quality, balance and enjoyment are not established by the publisher’s counts. Your best first purchase depends on the franchise you like, the breadth of content you want, the platform or subscription edition you use and the current price in your local store.

At a glance: documented content in each expansion
The figures below are statements from poncle’s official FAQs and platform FAQs, not independent gameplay tests. A larger roster or weapon list measures breadth; it does not prove that the characters are stronger or more enjoyable.

| Ode to Castlevania | Castlevania collaboration; paid | 20+ | 40+ | Publisher describes a large crossover and says content can be mixed with other DLC and free updates; a stage count is not stated in the FAQ | 30+ new tracks plus several dozen original Castlevania tracks |
| Operation Guns | Contra collaboration; paid | 11 | 22: 11 base weapons and 11 evolutions | One large stage, one bonus stage, 30 in-game unlocks and a six-chapter Adventure | Not stated in the cited FAQ |
| Emergency Meeting | Among Us collaboration; paid | 9 | 15: seven base weapons, seven evolutions and one additional weapon | Polus Replica stage, 20 in-game unlocks and an Adventure | Six new tracks |

| Emerald Diorama | SaGa Emerald Beyond collaboration; free | 12 | 16 | Local co-op; the publisher says its content can be mixed with anything else you own | Remixed music |
Because official pages reviewed for Moonspell and Foscari do not enumerate their rosters or item totals, a complete numerical ranking of all five paid DLCs would be misleading. Castlevania leads only on the documented crossover figures available here.

Ode to Castlevania: the clear breadth leader
Ode to Castlevania launched on October 31, 2024, as poncle’s collaboration with Konami. Its defining advantage is scale: it is the only pack in this comparison with an official claim above twenty playable characters and above forty weapons. It also adds a large amount of music, combining new Vampire Survivors tracks with original Castlevania material.
poncle’s FAQ describes the pack as a celebration of the Castlevania series and says, “20+ new playable characters are joining forces with The Survivors in Vampire Survivors: Ode to Castlevania.” The wording is from poncle’s FAQ; it is not an independently measured roster audit.
Who should choose it
- Players who want the most documented character and weapon variety in one purchase.
- Castlevania fans who value recognizable music and licensed atmosphere as much as mechanics.
- Local co-op groups that want to combine the pack with characters, weapons and stages from other DLC or free updates.
Its scale does not establish that every character is better balanced or more powerful than those in another expansion. If your priority is a specific franchise rather than maximum volume, Operation Guns or Emergency Meeting may be a better fit even though their documented rosters are smaller.
Operation Guns: the Contra-focused choice
Operation Guns is the Konami collaboration built around Contra. Its identity is more concentrated than Castlevania’s: the weapons, characters and presentation are aimed at players who want a run-and-gun military theme rather than gothic fantasy.
The pack includes the NeoGaluga setting, a large main stage and a bonus stage. Its six-chapter Adventure provides a structured route through the content, while the unlock system gives completion-oriented players objectives beyond simply starting a standard run.

Why its weapon structure matters
The official breakdown distinguishes base weapons from their evolutions. That makes the total useful for understanding how much of the arsenal is new without pretending that every entry is a completely separate play style. Players who enjoy building a run around recognizable firearms and evolution paths will get a clearer thematic package here than from a general-purpose roster expansion.
Best fit
Choose Operation Guns first if Contra is the licensed series you actually want to play, if a defined Adventure is more important to you than the largest possible roster, or if you prefer a military action aesthetic. It is not the documented volume winner, but it is the most direct answer for that particular theme.
Emergency Meeting: the Among Us experiment
Emergency Meeting is poncle’s collaboration with Innersloth and uses the Among Us universe. Its stage, Polus Replica, and its presentation make it the most overtly social and science-fiction-themed option in the paid lineup.
The official FAQ separates the weapon total into seven base weapons, seven evolutions and one extra weapon included “just for fun.” It also lists an Adventure, twenty in-game unlocks and six new tracks. Local co-op is supported, so the pack can work well for a group already familiar with Among Us references.
Who gets the most from it
- Among Us fans who want the licensed setting more than the largest content count.
- Players who prefer a compact, clearly themed expansion with an Adventure and explicit unlock targets.
- Local co-op players looking for a lighter contrast to the darker tone of the base game and other collaborations.
The smaller documented roster is not a verdict on character quality. It simply means this pack is a narrower franchise package than Castlevania.

Emerald Diorama: substantial content that costs nothing
Emerald Diorama is a collaboration with SaGa Emerald Beyond, made with Square Enix. poncle identifies it as free on all platforms listed in its FAQ, so it should not be placed in a paid price-per-content ranking.
The collaboration adds twelve characters and sixteen weapons, remixed music and local co-op. Its content can be mixed with anything else you own, making it an easy first download for both new and existing players. The publisher also says Xbox Game Pass players can claim it.
Why the free status changes the buying decision
If you already own Vampire Survivors, Emerald Diorama is the obvious no-cost way to add another themed set of characters and weapons. If you are deciding which paid pack to buy, treat Emerald Diorama as a bonus alongside that purchase rather than as a competitor whose free price makes the paid expansions poor value.
Moonspell and Foscari: important paid expansions without comparable counts
Legacy of the Moonspell and Tides of the Foscari are the first two DLC expansions identified in poncle’s Nintendo Switch FAQ. The PlayStation FAQ lists both as PSN DLC, and the Apple Arcade edition Vampire Survivors+ includes both expansions with the base game and free updates.
The official pages reviewed for this comparison do not give verified character, weapon, stage, Adventure or music totals for either pack. Do not infer their size from release order, reputation or prices, and do not call Castlevania the winner across all five paid packs on a complete quantitative basis. The defensible claim is narrower: Castlevania is the largest documented crossover in the official figures available here.

When to consider them
- Choose Moonspell or Foscari when you want the original Vampire Survivors setting rather than a licensed crossover.
- Use the store listing on your own platform to inspect the current description and price, because the cited FAQs do not provide a comparable content inventory.
- If you subscribe to Apple Arcade, check the included Vampire Survivors+ edition before buying a separate copy or expansion.
Which DLC should you buy first?
Use the following decision framework instead of treating the character count as a quality score.
| Your priority | Most logical first choice | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Maximum documented roster and weapon breadth | Ode to Castlevania | It has the largest official crossover figures in this comparison and an unusually large music package. |
| Castlevania atmosphere and music | Ode to Castlevania | The collaboration is built specifically as a Castlevania celebration with original series tracks. |
| Contra theme and structured action Adventure | Operation Guns | Its NeoGaluga setting, bonus stage and chapter-based Adventure are tailored to that franchise. |
| Among Us theme and local co-op novelty | Emergency Meeting | Polus Replica, the Among Us presentation and co-op support are the central appeal. |
| More content without another purchase | Emerald Diorama | The SaGa collaboration is free and still adds a documented roster, weapons and remixed music. |
| Original Vampire Survivors expansions | Moonspell or Foscari | These are the established non-crossover expansions, but the official pages reviewed do not provide count-based comparisons. |
For most buyers choosing one paid crossover, Castlevania is the safest breadth recommendation. For a fan of Contra or Among Us, the licensed theme can outweigh the numerical difference. For a budget-conscious player, claim Emerald Diorama first and then decide whether a paid pack adds a setting you specifically want.

Availability is not identical across every store or edition. Check the DLC listing on the device you will use rather than assuming that ownership transfers to every platform.
| Pack or edition | Documented availability | Important limitation |
|---|---|---|
| Ode to Castlevania | Steam, Xbox, PlayStation 4 and 5, Nintendo Switch, Android and iOS | Not available on Apple Arcade; the FAQ says Xbox Game Pass includes only the base game. |
| Operation Guns | Steam, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, mobile and PlayStation | The FAQ’s PlayStation wording includes a 2024 launch reference; confirm present store availability. |
| Emergency Meeting | Steam, Xbox, mobile and Nintendo Switch | Verify the current listing because platform catalogues and launch timing can change. |
| Emerald Diorama | Steam, Xbox, PlayStation 4 and 5, Nintendo Switch, Android, iOS and Epic Games Store | Excluded from Apple Arcade; the FAQ says it can be claimed by Xbox Game Pass players. |
| Moonspell and Foscari | PlayStation Network; both included in Vampire Survivors+ on Apple Arcade | In the Apple Arcade arrangement described by poncle, collaborative DLCs are not included. |
| Epic Games Store | All five paid DLCs are sold separately | poncle says to check the local market for the exact amount. |
Apple Arcade is therefore a special case. Vampire Survivors+ includes the base game, Moonspell, Foscari and free updates, while the collaborative packs described above are outside that subscription arrangement. A subscription edition is not equivalent to owning every paid DLC.

How to install and recover DLC on mobile
poncle’s mobile DLC troubleshooting FAQ says the game may download the latest DLC after an update when you launch it. The first launch after updating should therefore be online if you expect newly released content to appear.
- Update Vampire Survivors through your mobile store.
- Launch the game while connected to the internet so the latest DLC data can download.
- Wait for the download to finish before closing the game or switching to offline play.
- If you lose connectivity later, continue using content that was already downloaded.
- Reconnect for future updates. Previously downloaded content may remain usable offline, but the FAQ does not promise permanent access to future downloads, and older content may not offer the best experience on a newer game version.
If a purchased pack does not appear, first verify that you are using the same platform account that made the purchase, finish any pending game update, restart after the content download and check the store’s installed-add-ons page. Do not assume that an Apple Arcade subscription or a base-game entitlement includes collaborative DLC.
What the numbers can—and cannot—tell you
Character and weapon totals are useful when estimating how much material a pack adds. Stage count, Adventure structure, unlocks and music help distinguish a broad expansion from a tightly themed one. They cannot answer whether a character is balanced, whether a weapon fits your preferred build or whether a particular Adventure is more entertaining. Those judgments require hands-on play and are not established by the publisher’s inclusion lists.
The most reliable conclusion is therefore conditional. Castlevania is the documented scale leader; Operation Guns and Emergency Meeting are theme-first choices with clearly stated but smaller packages; Emerald Diorama is free additional content; and Moonspell and Foscari remain valid paid options whose detailed official counts are not available in the pages used for this comparison.
