There is no official ranking of VALORANT’s greatest rivalries. The clearest stories in the documented record are Fnatic–LOUD, LOUD–DRX and Fnatic–DRX: matchups shaped by international stakes, repeat meetings and, in Fnatic–LOUD’s case, dramatic reversals. They are not equally established, and the available evidence does not support a confident five-pair ranking. Here is what makes these three stand out—and what remains uncertain about the rest.
How to judge an iconic VALORANT rivalry
“Most iconic” is a judgment, not a VCT award or official list. A rivalry earns its place through more than a close score: repeated consequential meetings, results that swing between teams, tournament stakes, a memorable moment, and a story that persists across seasons all matter. A short, spectacular series can be more memorable than a longer matchup, while a regional identity can give repeated games extra meaning.

Riot says the VALORANT Champions Tour launched in 2021. In a 2023 feature, Riot also reported that players from 32 countries had finished in the top four of at least one of the first nine global tournaments. That is a historical snapshot, not a current total, but it helps explain why international matchups became part of the game’s identity.

1. Fnatic vs. LOUD: a final, a comeback and a rematch
The strongest rivalry in this selection is built around two high-stakes reversals. In the 2023 LOCK//IN final, Fnatic took a 2–0 lead, then LOUD won the next two maps to force a decider. On Icebox, Fnatic came back from 3–11, tied the map at 11–11 and won 14–12, taking the series 3–2. Fnatic’s account of the LOCK//IN final captures the scale of the turnaround.

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
The final was not the end of the story. At Champions 2023, LOUD won the opening playoff meeting 2–0, then defeated Fnatic 2–1 in the lower bracket to eliminate them. Riot’s Champions 2023 recap documents both results. That sequence—Fnatic’s championship win followed by LOUD’s two playoff wins—makes this more than a famous single map: it is a compact arc of revenge and reversal.
2. LOUD vs. DRX: Brazil meets Korea
Riot explicitly describes LOUD–DRX as an unlikely rivalry between the best of Brazil and the best of Korea. The teams met repeatedly on international stages, and DRX in-game leader Stax adopted LOUD’s “vamos” rallying cry. Riot’s 2023 feature points to the Champions group-stage meeting as a rematch of the teams’ LOCK//IN semifinal. Riot’s feature on VALORANT’s global competition is the basis for this regional framing.

Unlike Fnatic–LOUD, the defining thread here is not one comeback or elimination in the available account. It is the repeated collision of two regional powers—and the way a shared chant became part of the matchup’s character. As Leo Faria, Riot’s Global Head of VALORANT Esports, put it: “Regional rivalries just make esports more interesting.”
3. Fnatic vs. DRX: repeated meetings at the top level
Fnatic and DRX have met across multiple major events, but the specific score sequence available here comes from a Fnatic community post rather than an official tournament results page. The post, dated 6 August 2024, lists DRX winning 2–1 at Champions 2022, Fnatic winning 2–1 at Champions 2023, and Fnatic winning 2–0 at Red Bull Home Ground #4. The community post’s match list supports the recurring-opponent narrative; it should not be mistaken for an official VCT record or a complete head-to-head history.

Even with that attribution caveat, the list suggests a useful kind of rivalry: familiar opponents meeting again at high-level events, with results that are not entirely one-sided. It has less of a single defining moment in the available evidence than Fnatic–LOUD, but its repeat-season thread is clear.

Other matchups may deserve a place in a broader ranking, but the evidence here does not establish two more with comparable confidence. OpTic Gaming–LOUD appears in fan discussion, yet a complete head-to-head record and a defining account of its significance are not established by the available official sources. Sentinels–Fnatic and other pairings surfaced as candidates too, without enough primary-source detail to justify presenting them as proven top-five selections.

Leaving those slots open is more useful than turning a subjective list into false certainty. A more comprehensive ranking would need verified match records and tournament context for each additional candidate, then a consistent standard for weighing longevity against spectacle and stakes.
