Valor Mortis requires a Windows 11 gaming PC with a 64-bit processor, 16 GB of memory, a DirectX 12 graphics card and an SSD. AMD’s official hardware listing places the minimum at a Ryzen 7 3700X paired with a Radeon RX 6700. Its recommended tier moves to a Ryzen 7 7700 and Radeon RX 7900 GRE. Both tiers list the same memory, operating-system, DirectX and storage requirements.
These are published compatibility specifications, not a benchmark result. AMD does not state the resolution, graphics preset or frame-rate target attached to either tier, so the recommended list should not be treated as a promise of a particular number of frames per second.

AMD describes Valor Mortis as a first-person action soulslike from the creators of Ghostrunner. The hardware page does not provide Intel processor or graphics-card equivalents, so an Intel-based or mixed-brand PC must be judged by its exact model rather than by an assumed one-to-one comparison.
What the minimum specification tells you
The minimum row is the starting point for compatibility. A computer that falls below one or more of those listed parts is outside the published specification; that does not establish that the game will never launch, only that AMD has not listed that configuration as supported. Conversely, meeting every minimum item is not a guarantee of a specific frame rate, visual preset or loading time.
Windows 11 and 64-bit computing
Windows 11 is required in both tiers, along with a 64-bit processor and 64-bit operating system. A 32-bit Windows installation cannot satisfy that requirement even if the physical processor is capable of 64-bit operation. To check, open Settings > System > About and read “System type.” It should identify a 64-bit operating system and processor.
Processor baseline
The listed minimum processor is the AMD Ryzen 7 3700X. This is a desktop CPU model, not a generic “Ryzen 7” class. Older or lower-tier chips should not be assumed equivalent from the family name alone. Check the complete model number in Windows before deciding that a replacement is needed.
Graphics baseline
The minimum graphics card is the AMD Radeon RX 6700. Integrated graphics and cards with a similar-sounding name are not confirmed substitutes by the listing. A desktop card’s suitability also depends on the power supply, case clearance and required power connectors.
Memory, graphics API and drive
The specification calls for 16 GB of RAM, DirectX 12 and an SSD with 50 GB available. Because the same values appear in the recommended row, buying more memory or a larger drive is not required by AMD’s published recommended tier. Extra capacity can still be useful for Windows, updates and other games, but that is practical headroom rather than an additional Valor Mortis requirement.
How the recommended tier differs
The recommended configuration raises only the processor and graphics-card class. The Ryzen 7 7700 is the recommended CPU, while the Radeon RX 7900 GRE is the recommended GPU. Windows 11, 64-bit operation, 16 GB of RAM, DirectX 12 and the SSD space remain unchanged.
That pattern matters when planning an upgrade. If your machine already meets the minimum row, replacing every component is unnecessary on the evidence available. Compare your exact CPU and GPU first. If one is below the minimum, address that component; if both meet the minimum, wait for independent performance testing or the final game documentation before spending money solely to chase the word “recommended.”

Rank #2
- Chipset: AMD RX 7600
- Memory: 8GB GDDR6
- XFX SWFT Dual Fan Cooling Solution
- Boost Clock: Up to 2655 MHz
- Check Windows edition and architecture: Go to Settings > System > About. Confirm Windows 11 and a 64-bit system type.
- Identify the processor: In the same About page, read “Processor.” Record the full model, including its generation or series number.
- Identify the graphics card: Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager, select Performance, then choose each GPU entry. On systems with integrated and discrete graphics, record both names and determine which one your games use.
- Confirm memory: In Task Manager’s Performance > Memory view, check the installed amount. Windows may show a slightly smaller usable figure because it reserves some memory for hardware.
- Confirm DirectX: Press Windows key + R, enter
dxdiag, and press Enter. The System tab reports the installed DirectX version. The Display tabs show the active graphics device and driver information. - Check the SSD and free space: Open Settings > System > Storage or File Explorer > This PC. Identify whether the destination drive is solid-state and verify that at least the listed free capacity is available before installation.
Write down the model names rather than comparing only brands. For example, “Radeon” identifies a product family, while the RX 6700 and RX 7900 GRE are the specific models AMD named.
How to interpret performance expectations
AMD does not attach a resolution, quality preset or frame-rate target to either requirement row. Therefore, the published information cannot answer whether the minimum system is intended for 1080p, whether the recommended tier targets 60 frames per second, or how features such as ray tracing affect performance.
Until the developer or final store documentation supplies those details, treat the two rows as hardware thresholds rather than performance guarantees. Your result can also vary with graphics settings, driver versions, background applications, cooling and the game’s eventual patches. Independent benchmarks may eventually provide useful frame-rate data, but they should be identified by their test resolution, preset and system configuration.

If your graphics card is below the minimum
Start with the GPU model. Check the card against the named Radeon requirement, then verify the rest of the platform: power-supply wattage and connectors, case length, motherboard slot and monitor connection. A card that meets a specification on paper may not fit a compact case or have adequate power delivery.
If your processor is below the minimum
Check the motherboard socket and firmware support before selecting a newer CPU. A processor upgrade can require a BIOS update, new cooling hardware or a different motherboard. Do not assume that a higher product number from another generation is compatible with your existing board.
If the PC meets the minimum row
Do not upgrade solely because the recommended row is higher. First decide what experience you want and wait for measured performance information that states the target resolution and settings. If you do upgrade, prioritize the component that is closest to your intended workload and confirm platform compatibility before ordering.
Laptops and prebuilt desktops
Laptop GPU names can include power limits and chassis-specific versions, so the model label alone may not predict desktop-card performance. Most laptop processors and graphics devices are not user-replaceable. On a prebuilt desktop, check the exact installed parts rather than the advertised series name, and verify the power supply and cooling before changing hardware.
Storage and installation planning
The requirement is for 50 GB available on an SSD, not merely a 50 GB drive. Available space is the free capacity remaining after Windows and other files are counted. Leave additional room for operating-system updates, shader caches and game patches; AMD does not specify how much extra space those items will consume.

Install the game on the SSD itself. Moving only a shortcut or launcher does not change the drive that stores the game files. If you have multiple drives, use Windows storage settings or the installer’s library-location control to select the SSD with sufficient free space.

The installer says the system is unsupported
Recheck Windows edition and architecture first, then confirm the exact CPU and GPU models. A 64-bit processor running a 32-bit operating system still fails the operating-system requirement. Update Windows and graphics drivers through the normal manufacturer-supported channels, and compare the final game listing in case the requirements have changed.
The game installs but runs poorly
Meeting the minimum list does not define a frame-rate target. Close unnecessary background applications, use the latest stable graphics driver and test lower in-game settings if available. Record the resolution, preset and observed behavior before seeking support; those details make a performance report actionable.

Free space on the destination SSD, remove or move unused files, and retry the installation. Do not count cloud-only files or capacity on another drive unless the installer is configured to use that drive.
DirectX or driver errors appear
Run dxdiag to capture the DirectX and display-device information, install pending Windows updates, and obtain a current driver for the installed GPU. Avoid downloading unofficial “DirectX fixes” from unknown sites.
Before installing: a concise checklist
- Windows 11 is installed and the system type is 64-bit.
- Your CPU model is at least the minimum named in the official table, or you understand that a lower model is outside the published specification.
- Your active gaming GPU is at least the minimum named model.
- At least 16 GB of system memory is installed.
- DirectX 12 is available.
- An SSD has the required free capacity.
- Your power supply, case and cooling can support the installed hardware.
- You have checked the final store listing for any revised requirements.
What to verify when the final listing appears
The AMD page leaves several practical questions open: Intel CPU and GPU equivalents, target resolutions, graphics presets, frame-rate targets and whether later updates alter the storage figure. Check the final official listing for those details rather than converting AMD’s two rows into unsupported performance claims.
For now, the safest reading is straightforward: compare your exact PC components with AMD’s minimum row for baseline compatibility, and use the recommended CPU and GPU as a higher hardware target without assuming a guaranteed frame rate.
