Valor Mortis has 24 side quests in the PC launch build (Steam build 25907482). They span ten regions and include six achievement-linked quests, seven quests with choice-dependent outcomes, 17 Monster Hunt drawings, and seven Oathbound emblems. Most quests remain available after their story chapter, but complete The Choir during Chapter 10: Shackled while Napoleon’s prison is open.
Use the checklist below to find every starting point, gather required items, understand branch consequences, and track the rewards that matter for completion and future access.

Scope and the safest way to use this checklist
This count is for the PC launch build of Valor Mortis, Steam build 25907482, datamined on October 13, 2026 and reported by MetaBot on October 15. Console versions or later patches may alter quest flags, so treat this as a launch-build checklist rather than a universal count for every edition.
PowerPyx reports that side quests generally remain available after the main story moves on. The practical exception is The Choir: its jail area exists temporarily during Chapter 10: Shackled. MetaBot’s data does not formally mark a quest as missable, so the conservative approach is to finish The Choir before leaving that chapter.

- When a quest appears, record its region and the item or event needed to advance it.
- Keep Amber, catalysts, gifts, and achievement progress in separate notes; a quest can be complete even when its collectible set is not.
- Before making a life-or-death choice, create a save if your platform allows it. The Mice and Adjutant branches have different long-term effects.
- Revisit earlier regions after unlocking university transmutations or other traversal abilities; several objectives are deliberately gated.

Quests with precise routes or unusual prerequisites
An Unheard Farewell: elevator shaft and the Adjutant’s choice
The objective is not complete when you first speak with the Adjutant Sous-Officier. First unblock the elevator. Ride it to the top, take the lift down, and jump onto the ledge halfway through the shaft. Burn the wall there, defeat the soldier in the concealed area, and take the notes.
When you report what happened, telling the truth triggers a catalyst follow-up after resting. Lying still gives the Sleight of Hand Amber, then sends you to a Remnant’s Return in the scouts’ cave. PC Gamer notes that either answer awards Sleight of Hand, while MetaBot’s launch-build data records Lucky Shot or Sleight of Hand depending on the outcome and says Sleight of Hand has no other known source. Players pursuing every Amber should decide this branch before committing.

The Emissary: return after the university
Take the emissary seal from the abandoned camp when you find it, but do not expect to finish immediately. The poison clouds block the return route until you learn Shield Transmutation at the university later in the campaign. PC Gamer explicitly identifies that transmutation as the requirement for crossing the clouds. Once equipped, go back through the hazard and complete the hand-in for Perfect Copy Amber.
The Scarecrow: three evidence points
Search by the cross and tree for the medallion, then enter the house near Fields and check upstairs for the drawing note. Return both pieces as instructed. The final echo is not in the house: climb into the nearby barn’s hayloft to trigger it and finish the quest.
Mummy and Daddy: preserve later Mice assistance
Bring cheese to the Mice’s parents and use the music box to calm them if you want to keep later Mice-related help and gifts available. Killing the parents changes the journal to say that the Mice will never aid William again. That consequence is more important than the immediate completion reward, so make this decision before attacking.

Monster Hunt: drawings, not kills
This quest requires all 17 Mice monster drawings, not merely defeating 17 enemies. The documented list includes the Volunteer, Sphinx, Eternal Guard, General Lothaire, and an unknown monstrosity. Keep a separate 17-slot tally; ordinary quest completion will not reveal which drawing is missing.

The Oathbound: seven named emblems
Search the bodies of seven named Eternal Guards for emblems: Bastien Beaufort, Severin Susse, Adrien Casell, Jean Pierre Polnaire, Étienne Vauclair, Lucien Lafontaine, and Valen Duroc. The quest spans multiple regions and concludes in the fortress chamber, so do not assume that finding the first emblem starts or completes the objective.
Missable content and timing rules
The Choir is the safe missable to prioritize
Enter the warden’s quarters during Chapter 10: Shackled, while Napoleon’s prison is active. PowerPyx calls this the only missable side quest because the jail area is temporary. MetaBot’s quest data does not officially flag any quest as missable, which explains the apparent disagreement between guides. Completing it during the chapter avoids both interpretations.

Other quests generally remain available
PowerPyx’s broader guidance is that side quests usually stay accessible after the story advances. The checklist therefore does not require a rigid chapter-by-chapter speedrun. Revisit earlier regions after unlocking traversal or transmutation abilities, especially for The Emissary.

MetaBot reports a 0.2% Steam unlock rate for both Monster Hunt and The Oathbound, indicating how easy it is to finish the surrounding quests while missing the associated collection. Track the 17 drawings and seven emblems independently from the 24 quest names.

How rewards and choices differ
The major Amber rewards are Lucky Shot or Sleight of Hand, Tomorrow’s Promise, Bottomless Well, Perfect Copy, and Bountiful Harvest. Catalyst payouts range from 1,500 for Lullaby to 6,000 for The Choir; the table records each cited amount so you can plan upgrades without treating an unlisted quest as secretly rewarding materials.
Sleeping Beauty has a 2,000- or 3,000-Catalyst outcome and also grants Distilled Transmutation Material. Misericorde gives two Remnant’s Return items, while Laudanum provides a Mythic Catalyst Clot. For branch planning, weigh four things: whether an Amber is exclusive, the catalyst or material payout, achievement progress, and whether the decision removes future Mice assistance.

Recovery and troubleshooting
- Quest marker is inactive: check the table for a story, item, or ability gate. The Emissary cannot be crossed until Shield Transmutation is learned.
- You cannot find the next evidence piece: revisit the exact vertical spaces. An Unheard Farewell uses a mid-shaft ledge; The Scarecrow ends in a barn hayloft; The Emissary returns through poison clouds.
- An achievement did not unlock: verify the collection count rather than only the quest journal. Monster Hunt needs 17 drawings and The Oathbound needs seven named emblems.
- The Choir disappeared: if Chapter 10’s prison window has closed, the quest may no longer be reachable on that save. Use a pre-chapter save where available; otherwise, a new playthrough may be required.
- Mice stop helping: this follows the documented consequence of killing Mummy and Daddy. It is not a bug; calming them with the music box is the preservation route.
Quick completion order
- Complete ordinary regional quests as you encounter them, recording any required key, toy, seal, note, or manifest.
- Delay The Emissary hand-in until Shield Transmutation is available, then return immediately.
- During Chapter 10: Shackled, finish The Choir before leaving Napoleon’s prison.
- Before final cleanup, count all 17 Monster Hunt drawings and seven Oathbound emblems.
- Resolve the Adjutant and Mice choices according to whether you value Amber exclusivity or continued assistance more.
